I would fully support Capital Punishment if it were not for the media whipping up hate to get a good story on the supposed killer/rapist/badperson, even if they are not guilty, this can ruins peoples lives, they get piles of hatemail for the rest of their life. In the US and UK (I don't know about other places) you are innocent until proven guilty, yet even the jury listen to the radio/read the newspaper, so they are immediately pre-judging the accused, even if their is barely any evidence. Also, the justice system is so fucked I wouldn't trust people sending them off to their deaths. Another point; if you make the death penalty a punishment for lesser crimes, like money laundering and such, you just make a bigger problem by making murder equal to lesser crimes. This happened in the smuggling boom of 18th and 19th century England. They made smuggling punishable by hanging, the same as murder, so the smugglers were just like "****, the feds are tailing me, I will get hanged, might as well kill these fuckers, if i don't, I get killed, if i try and fail, i get killed, so **** it!!". Also, making the death penalty a punishment for lesser crimes only pushers the crimes up for the crime syndicates, for they won't care the punishment. An average offender might care, but they won't. EDIT: Yet I still do believe some people need to have their belly cut open and force fed their own intestines for the **** they do.
