While it is true, and I do believe that the average citizen of the Empire wishes for nothing more than to live a fulfilling and prosperous life, it must also be noted that a noble spirit has the potential to embody every man and woman in the whole of the realm. There comes a time when blissful contentment is not enough, and action must be taken to turn the wheels of progress. The Holy Orenian Empire is a country with a tremendous amount of potential. Although already great, it is my belief that this nation can be even greater than it is today. It is thus why I, a private citizen of Adunian descent who has lived in the countryside for some years, have been moved to stand for election to the House of Commons in order to represent people of the Right-Bank District and make a change. It must be noted that never before have I held a government posting of any sort. As a private businesswoman and artisan, the accumulation of wealth and the spread of beauty has been my life’s work. As the mother and guardian of several young children, the procurement of a comfortable life for myself and for my family is all that I have ever desired. I am content with the state of my private life, having been blessed by God with a wonderful life thus far. To me, the bickering of the political arena holds no appeal. The serene countryside of the southeast is my home, and has been for quite some time. I find myself wanting for little. And yet, having observed such for quite some time, a number of ideas have come to mind which I wish to propose in His Imperial Majesty’s Diet. I believe them to be sound ones, although the voters shall decide whether they are or not. MANIFESTO: Funding the Improvement of Rural Roads and the Aesthetics of the Countryside: This would entail the creation of a fund to be administered by the Ministry of the Interior. If elected, I would seek to draft a bill with the intention of hiring architects to design schematics for rural infrastructure projects such as aesthetically pleasing military outposts, roads, parks, etc. Defending the Personal Liberties and Rights of the Individual: Whether they be of common or noble stock, it is important to protect the right of all Orenian citizens to live in freedom. If elected, I will always look out for these rights and the ability of Orenian men and women to chart their own destinies. Supporting the Preservation of History and Culture: Through supporting the presence of private institutions such as the NGS, the La Fleur Production Company, Penton-Napier Publishing, and others, I hope to further the Ministry’s goal of cultural regeneration within the Holy Orenian Empire. The Revitalization and Expansion of the Henry’s Wharf Seaport: If elected, I hope to pass legislation that will create an infrastructure to better utilize the Empire’s primary sea port, in the hopes of better facilitating maritime traffic and trade. The potential for such is limitless. In providing this guidance, we hope to turn our sea port into a thriving center of trade once more. Reinstitution of the Petrine Laurel: In my youth, the Imperial government awarded the brightest minds of our generation with the Petrine Laurel, an accolade of the utmost prestige that honored our scholars and artisans. If elected, I will draft legislation to reinstate an unbiased, independent committee from across Orenian society to award the Petrine Laurel once more. Modernization of the Lex Arcana: This current book of law within the ORC is an utterly outdated part of the Orenian legal codex. If elected, I hope to liberalize, update, and modernize the Lex Arcana and the magic laws which govern the Empire. 13th of Deep Cold 22 SA | 1819 IC "To the Society's Circle of the NGS: It is hard to condense the events of an entire year onto a single roll of parchment, but I wished to write to inform this body of the many strides we have made toward charting these lands over the past several months. The Attenlund is a beautiful place, to be sure. Rugged, wet, and uncharted, it is a magnificent frontier which awaits only those of great fortitude who might seek to delve into its depths. While Vice President Dilvyn has written to inform the Circle of our specific gains thus far, I in turn wish to write from the perspective of an anthropologist and naturalist. They are quaint, these runestones which we have sought to decode, yet... I feel as though if only we can crack that which lies beneath, we may come one step closer to understanding the history of Almaris for the benefit of all descendant kind. We have had to endure a number of trials and tribulations. Life on the frontier is not like life in any civilized country. While there is authority out here in the form of the expeditionary leaders, that authority is often exercised with a firm hand. It is a necessity for our survival, although I must admit that I would have preferred on a much more personal level to have gone it alone or delved into the wilds unilaterally. Yet, our pursuit of the knowledge which we seek about Almarisian origins remains unhindered. I hope to write next time in order to describe the habits and culture of the Swamp Trolls which Dilvyn has described in his report, in addition to the other native tribes of this region. It is my solemn hope that cooler heads might repeat the mistakes of the past when engaging in First Contact situations, the worst of which which led to the Scyfling War and Frost Troll genocide. An outcome of conflict has never been to the benefit of any side involved, and I believe that it is important to ensure that this does not happen again. I wholly and truly believe that the Lord of the Craft is isn’t some major NL who’s always in the spotlight, waging wars or making things all about their character’s own personal legacy. Rather, I believe that there are many Lords of the Craft. These people are the ones who strive to build others up, putting others ahead of themselves and endeavoring to add to the world at large in ways that are often considered to be “outside of the box.” There is no one Lord of the Craft. There are many, and they are the people who bring a smile to the faces of their own personal friend groups, their nation communities, and the server at large both IRPly and OOCly. These people may not be the most recognized because they don’t play emperors, kings, or princes. Sometimes they do. But these people bear names that tend to be remembered fondly and make people feel good when they hear them. I’m sure there’s many others who I don’t know or haven’t met yet, but!
