A young Lothar and Hughes d’Amaury speaking with a Knight of the Spur in their early years.
The young Hughes Augustus d’Amaury, had long watched his elder brother enroll his efforts into the retinue of the Imperial Guard and squireship to the Sir Carolus of the Dragon Knights. The youth knew in his heart that perhaps it was not his path to enter into martial service directly, for he wished to walk alongside the head of his family stride by stride but in a different journey, one of his own unique making. It was then, Hughes, in prayer knew that his service was to not only his Emperor, but to GOD himself. The cloth did not appeal to him, however he sought service to Her Most Holy Mother Church and the mission of the Faithful.
It was then, within the lands of the Empire, he spotted a man of armour and cloth, adorned with the cross of GOD upon his cape. Something called to the boy, a whisper ever so faint within his mind, but roaring in a scream within his heart. There had been three constants within his life, his brother Lothar, their mentor and protector Launfal, and the walls of GOD which he prayed within every day. He looked then, to their family scribe and begged a message be penned to all those of the faith who would read its words.
It read:
Good Blessings Upon You,
It has been a long and tiresome journey from home, arriving within these lands with my brothers and learning the ways of the realm. I, Hughes Augustus of d’Amaury write to any who would listen, seeking service to both the Empire and Church. It is my hope that I might fight beside men who, like me, seek to root out the evils who prey upon the innocent and reunite their souls with GOD or banish them to the hells as just punishment. To protect and shield GOD’s faithful and guide them to his embrace with a fervour so ignited within my heart by his love for us is my goal.
If you find it within you to take upon one seeking a righteous and glorious path, walking in tandem with mankind and GOD, please send a missive to me so that I might learn, serve, and carry out the will of GOD, according to his will.
Walk with GOD,
Hughes Augustus d’Amaury
