  1. I disagree. LOTC still has a good population but it's a lot less centralised than before. The community spirit once held by these former leaders is extinguished, giving the server a much quieter, almost anarchic feel. Don't get me wrong, it's still huge, but it definitely feels different to back when I last played two years ago.

  3. Won't lie, the map is just generic as a whole, so here's my pennies in suggestion for biomes alone. More diversity of biomes. One thing that particularly irks me is the desert continent of Korvassa, of which only the northern half is remotely desert, and barely even feels like a desert because it's so small that literally everything is packed together. This irritates me even more when I see that the desert's creator clearly based it off the incredible and ambient desert of Varant from Gothic 3, which Korvassa is NOTHING like. If Korvassa is to be more like Varant, the entire continent must be a gigantic, sparse desert. None of this Thyra here, Marsumar there crap. At best, the entire continent must have two cities, and must be particularly open and possibly harsh to navigate. One thing that I've noticed is that the Wildlands and northernmost part of Arcas in particular, are partially locked off from Arcas by a series of mountain ranges to make access difficult. This tells me the GM's can create a similarly inhospitable land, just with one massive desert. Come on. It's not hard. If I were given the opportunity, I'd honestly help myself. Furthermore, of the parts of Arcas that are Plains and forests, I see an incredible lack of diversity amongst those types. It's all generic green crap most of the time. What I'd like to see more of is something that is currently happening to Lorraine, where instead of the bog standard oak tree crap, we diversify with Spruces, Dark Oaks, Birches, etc. Take Oblivion for example. It's not all green forests. Some, like the Colovian Highlands, have a more rugged terrain, and what trees exist are extensively spread out. The Gold Coast, with a perpetual autumn feel as all the trees are gold and brown, Blackwood, which is a giant marsh with huge trees that could easily be Jungle or Spruce trees, but without being a Swamp. The Nibenay Basin, which itself is the stereotypical forests we see in LOTC, but takes influences from all the others to avoid being so generic.

[!] Posters would be plastered around major Imperial cities, including but not limited to Ves, Adria, Curon and Helena: "Join the Arcadian Expedition!", below including a copy of the aforementioned posters emphasising the immense wealth and treasure at stake.

  6. One thing I'll say is that banditry is too PvP focused, with not enough focus ON RP, encouraging cheesing from goon factions such as Flays or Reivers, without actually contributing to RP, which in turn moves LOTC away from an RP server to a simple PvP anarchy server.
  7. Theodosius would throw his sword aside "If the Emperor is not to be of the Horenian line, and to be some elected Dwarven puppet, then I want no part of this "Empire"."
  8. *the boy would hear of the news of the declaration of war upon the Empire, and would laugh* "Well, it looks like I was right after all then!"
  9. I don't know whether this will lead to anarchy or an actually good system. Only time will tell I guess.

  12. This is likely a response which has been reiterated a thousand times over, but I will say it again. Lack of content. I know, I know, the ST is in disarray, and recruitment has been slow, but the map has just become stale without any flavour to give to it. Now, I know there are SOME events being planned at certain dates to help keep things in order, which is nice, but I can’t help but feel almost as if the damage has already been done. Many players have already burned themselves out on things like warclaims and simultaneous RP to the extent where many of them, myself included have genuinely become disillusioned with LOTC as a whole. It’s just a huge let-down honestly, and I’m concerned if the community will be able to make a recovery, because from what I can see, there is a lot of bad faith in staff as a result of failed promises, forgone story-lines and trigger happy removal of lore outright, which has led to no end of frustration.
  13. Except that rules can be subjectively interpreted, and to teach CRP selectively in full to each player would be impossible without staff grinding to a halt. New players learn the rules just fine in the experiences I've seen. The only grievances are that some players are unable to properly acclimate and end up leaving. But I call that sorting the wheat from the chaff. Overall, if you want to teach players yourself, be my guest, but a drop of water will not change the taste or colour of an ocean.
  14. Because giving new players a crash course in a system that is, to the staff, too flexible to teach properly, to the extent where when these players actually experience any form of transient RP, they'll be completely hit out of the blue, is an amazing idea. Honestly, I'd call this a silly proposition. Why do we need to focus so much on player individuality and waste staff time when we could set up a 'buddy' system of sorts, and allow vetted, trustworthy players to help these new people, and show them the ropes of how an actual interaction works. Staff are, at least in my opinion, too much interacting with the mechanics of the server itself, to actually be able to give an informal education on how to function when these new players are on the ground. But those are just my thoughts.

Nay, for it is but I who be a heathen! I cry out for redemption, and am I greeted with aingeal? I am greeted with the truth of my vision, That I find myself in paradise eternal Where neither be life’s burden nor mistral I have been given rapture as my perdition! Come I to the beach, shipwrecked with sighs and forlorn cries And I am at peace, as the seagulls fly above I stare upwards to see perched on the tree a lonely dove, And I am at peace, having said to the world my honest goodbyes.
