  4. Norlandic Lead Mine Expedition 17 SA A drawing of the valley where the mine is located, from the perspective of base camp. Organised by: Viktor Eldrsson, hunter of Varhelm Tannon, Head Ranger of Elysium Aims of the Expedition To explore a newly discovered abandoned mine in the foot of a valley far northwest, and to set up a base camp nearby to aid future expeditions. The Team Viktor Eldrsson - leader, scout, guide, camp builder, lookout Tannon - co-leader, scout, guide, excavator, mine explorer Melkor Frey - camp builder, lead excavator, mine explorer Orris Vallei'onn - camp builder, excavator, mine explorer Audry Sanguine - camp builder, excavator Agmaer Vildr - camp builder, excavator Valen Dreth - camp builder Ninskeeq-Ungri - camp builder Vilnoth Auth'rukt - camp builder Lorrick Al-Wahdi - medical, reporter Kryst - lookout, medical, caretaker Alexandra Snowell - child Preparation After Viktor's discovery of the mine, Viktor and Tannon visited the site during The First Seed, 17 SA, in order to map the safest and least taxing route to the valley, work out the best way to approach the collapsed entrance, and see if any more surface entrances existed. Unfortunately, no other entrances were found, though traces of lead were identified in the area. A call was made throughout Norland for all those able-bodied to assemble in the Ashwood Tavern on the 7th of The Grand Harvest for an expedition to the abandoned mine. All financing and equipment was self-sourced by the organisers and participants - no support was requested from any other person, organisation, or nation outside of those who attended. This included food provisions, material for building a base camp, armour, weapons, and pickaxes. Timing 7th of The Grand Harvest - gathering and briefing at the Ashwood Tavern 8th of The Grand Harvest - early departure from Varhelm, arrival and setup of base camp 9th of The Grand Harvest - first mine excursion 10th of The Grand Harvest - second mine excursion 11th of The Grand Harvest - departure from base camp, arrival in Varhelm Travel The group departed on foot from Varhelm's north-west gate, Viktor leading the vanguard with Tannon keeping the rear in check. Most group supplies were carried by the stronger members of the expedition, while others carried their own personal baggage, or helped keep a look out for hostile wildlife. Base camp was set up at the foot of the valley the mine was located in. After dealing with a sudden bear attack and resting otherwise peacefully through the night, some members returned to Varhelm, while the rest trekked northward to the mine itself. Minor casualties were sustained from the attack, but were patched up quickly. The First Mine Excursion Upon arrival at the mine, Viktor and Tannon noted that some of the rubble around the collapsed entrance had shifted since their last visit. This had exposed a point in the rocks that would provide an easy approach to digging out the entrance. With help from Melkor Frey's experience and leadership in excavation, he, Tannon and Orris made good headway into the rubble, until the floor collapsed beneath Tannon and Orris, the two men falling into a small chamber below. A medium-sized boulder fell near the opening, with any further displacement possibly trapping them inside. Thankfully, those outside the mine were able to move the boulder without disturbing any other rocks. Upon lighting a torch, Orrin discovered a swarm of spiders, each roughly the size of a halfling's head. The species was unable to be identified. They retreated from the sudden burst of flame, either deeper into the mines or out into the snow, where they would bury themselves in cracks in the mountains; as such, these spiders are assumed to be incredibly light-sensitive from how long they have lived in the darkness of the mine. Some were burnt as the torch lit their webs on fire, though Orris quickly extinguished his flames before they burnt the wooden supports nearby, relighting his next torch carefully before he and Tannon delved deeper. A small room would be found not far in, containing two wooden stools, a small log-campfire, and a pile of ropes. At the behest of Orris, the duo used the ropes to exit the mine with the aid of those at the entrance, before the group retreated to base camp to reconsider their options. Upon reaching base camp, the group found a bear within one of the tents, eating away at some of the food supplies left there. The encounter did not turn violent, as the bear fled at the sight of so many armed people approaching. The rest of the evening was spent planning, eating, and resting for the next day's attempt. No casualties were sustained from the events of this day. The Second Mine Excursion The ones to descend into the mine on the second day were Orris, Tannon, Audry Sanguine, and Melkor. Orris led, once again holding a torch as his light source. Viktor, Lorrick, Kryst and Alexandra remained on standby at the entrance. The wooden supports on the inside of the mine were in much worse shape than those exposed to the outside, and parts of the mineshaft were partially collapsed. As the group continued, they used wood they had as improvised supports to stabilise the mine while they were inside. Within the walls were many mineral deposits containing shiny, black rock, identified as lead. This confirmed that the mine had indeed been primarily used for lead. As the mine opened up into another room with old, rustic furniture strewn across the floor, Orris' torch shone upon a huge spider-beast, almost half of the elf's size. Melkor leapt forth and slew it quickly, allowing the group to fully enter the room. There were many other spiders lurking in the darker corners, but they appeared more passive than the smaller ones from the entrance. Unfortunately, this room was as far as the group could go - the mine further on was collapsed beyond repair with what tools the expedition had at its disposal. While the group tried crawling through some of the larger openings, and digging away at some of the rocks blocking the paths, in the end nothing could be pursued further by those present. As spiders continued to retreat from the light of Orris' torch, it was noted that they were able to scurry much deeper into the rocks, so there must be a good amount more left to explore. With no more options left for the mine group, and smoke starting to build up from the torch, they deemed it reasonable to return above ground, bringing some spoils with them. The loot was divided equally between all those present before returning to base camp and officially concluding their time at the mine. No casualties were sustained from the events of this day. Return All in attendance had been made familiar with the route back, so they departed in their own smaller, separate groups, while Viktor and Melkor remained behind to tidy up base camp, making their own departures later. To the organisers' current knowledge, everyone returned to Varhelm safely. [!] A roughly drawn map of the terrain is attached with a line showing the path taken to base camp, and the location of the mine. [OOC stuff below. Please be aware this report has not been made public IRP yet - will update this warning once it is! For now, if Viktor hasn't handed this report to you IRP, L]
  5. Picture taken by Mason! Within the cradle of Norlandic lands, lies the swirling, icy freshwaters that many tributaries of the northern wilds feed into. It is an ancient place which thrives in wildlife and has served dutifully for the colonists of Nyrheim which aptly founded their capital besides the bountiful waters. Though, the newcomers to Almaris have stirred dangers from the deep, where ancient subterranean caves have felt the imbalance within the environs of the area, culminating in vicious, sufferable assaults all across the coastline that has seen many in the Kingdom of Norland, hurt and wounded. Year 17 of the Second Age, has witnessed yet another momentous battle that involved even brave warriors from Clan Lur of Krugmar tested their valor and strength to great success against a ferocious serpentine creature that intrepid uruks such as Turge’Ram wrestle and defeat the creature with conviction, aided no kind by those like Galenus Amaricius , Yarrow , Kaja and Levian’Tol Grandaxe and numerous others that aided well. Though. The adventuring spirit and the mettle of battle can never really be quelled so simply, for more dangers seem to lurk and now, direct danger would arise to the coastal settlements like Varhelm and Elysium. It all came back to the question, from mysterious blizzards and deadly attacks out in the waters. What lurks in Lake Eada?

  7. Ajax Frostbeard in his usual stint of writing has composed a new song! Posting it quickly in the tavern hall in Urguan's mountain holme he returns to his home to make additional copies, wishing to send them out to the other nations of the world. His hopes are this song can become popular enough and be enjoyed outside the kingdom as well. The Indomitable Cavalryman I'm Haenseti, I'm Norlan Im a Holy Oren son Charging Khazadmar across the plain I'm the lancer on a dun I'm an Uruk on the run I'm a Horseman here to bring you pain. Was with Verthaik and the 7th 16-06 or was it 7? Countless Urguan footmen i did hew And the tears and tribulation Of that proud dwardmari nation Them I know because I was riding with them too And I ate rations on the run, Riding with the Uruk hun In the distant redrock steppe while in their prime Whether coalition, or sedition, in these wars' painful attrition I had burned down your village in the night And I knew the Fierce Sultan, and rode their swift arabians Harassing heavy northmen upon their heavy drafts. And yet I rode the Pereshan against the Federal Suitican And once again blood in sand was cast. (well) I'm Haenseti, I'm Norlan Im a Holy Oren son Charging Khazadmar across the plain I'm the lancer on a dun I'm an Uruk on the run I'm a Horseman here to bring you pain. Well I've worn the Talon's Crimson If you're quiet and you'll listen You'll know that It was with him that I stood When along the ports kids cried as their mounted constable died Cut down by highwaymen's cold blood. Well I's the prancing heavy lancer when I fought beside Ruskan dancers Suffrage of Haenseti's Oren Raids. And mine was not to question why Mine was but to do or die In Elvenesse, with their Charging Light Brigade On mountain high in Rocky eden Be me Urguan be me Heathen The Traitor to the hammer I will put With A Crack Flanking Maneuver I'm a Norlan mounted trooper Striking Terror into Landsknecht men on foot. (well) I'm Haenseti, I'm Norlan Im a Holy Oren son Charging Khazadmar across the plain I'm the lancer on a dun I'm an Uruk on the run I'm a Horseman here to bring you pain. Well I knew my days are numbered As all the fortresses lumber More modern innovations then again No match for arcane fire, or Dorimnur's Cannon-shot With a swift rear guard action i retreat. No Match for Pikeman's Ire, or Hefty Golems fought Reluctant, I retire and take my leave. These days I ride as special forces On those wild Druidic horses To those southerners we give our thanks And no matter which side deployed on If you want this battle won, You'll always need me to strike at their flanks. (well) I'm Haenseti, I'm Norlan I'm a Holy Oren son Charging Khazadmar across the plain I'm the lancer on a dun I'm an Uruk on the run I'm a Horseman here to bring you pain. I'm a horseman here to bring you pain. Was with the Greenskins as they pleaded To find the wells so badly needed And The Kahazad War rams charging Oren ranks Saw high elves mount struck down in a haenseti town The Night We charged the empire down As we piled them both up like cordwood planks

  9. 13th of Snow's Maiden 3 Second Age =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= "Get en yer places, doves," Lady Alli Ambrose said, lining her youngest children beside one another at the shoulder. She adjusted Vane's collar while Vera began to whine. Off to the side was Olaf Freysson, sitting comfortably in his wheelchair. He was thumbing through his coins over and over again, only looking up to say, "Listen to your mother. And quiet down, will you?" Then, with a soft smile, he'd continue to count. Ser Jolfrey stood at the entrance to the tavern, eyes combing over the grove and the winding trails that led from the capital to the County of Leumont. From the distance came three figures: a tall man with bright white hair, his wife-to-be, and his beautiful daughter. Jolfrey went and met the man's hand in a firm handshake. "Good to see you, Cain." Jolfrey said before giving respectful glances to the young women. Cain Maddox Ambrose retracted his hand and began to lead his children upstairs, sweater already itching his neck. He smiled, "Let's get this over with..." Soon after, Asher Maddox Ambrose arrived, donned in hunting gear, giving Jolfrey a solemn nod. "Good afternoon!" He said before heading upstairs. Lucina Camien was next to arrive. "Happy Holidays, Jolfrey." She then clocked him in the arm jokingly and snickered, giving him a dazzling smile before going inside. After her was a very timid Athri Ambrose, approaching Jolfrey carefully, as if he would attack her. "It's...been a long time." Jolfrey immediately pulled her in for a hug. "It's good to see you, friend." She pulled back from his embrace, a bit more calmed, and started to go upstairs. Estelle and Alexios Ambrose arrived at the same time, bumping into one another. Estelle folded her hands in front of her. "Oh, hello!" She said cheerily. Alexios greeted her with a formal gesture. "Good day, sister. Are you ready for the festivities?" Estelle nodded, allowing Jolfrey to escort her upstairs, Alexios close behind. Last but not least was Bertrath Freysson, happily walking down the cobblestone road to meet Jolfrey at the door. He offered his hand. "'Ello, there! Nice sweater you got." Bertrath chuckled, himself having one very similar. "Name's Bertrath. You taking part in the festivities?" After finally settling down and telling quite a few...strange...stories, another Norlander arrived to paint the picture you see below. [!] A note is attached: Merry Krugmas and Happy Holidays! We may not be the least problematic family or even a simple one, but together, we wish you all good tidings! From Iron to Ice Love, The Ambrose-Freysson Family ((OOC Credits: Sweaters: @Miss_Confined Family members [from the left]: envy, Roria, neoroseo, Professorus, Pro-Head, SophiaTsu, jolfrey, recrofine, Denset_, ambretta, Tayelikel (Reetzy in spirit) Thank you everyone for attending!!!!))
  10. Hey All! I know that at this point most of you guys probably know me as Vortex man or something of the like. Though the funny thing is that without me promising DAENGIE to do the Norland build for next map, I probably wouldn't have come back. Its been a ton of fun, and after about a month of prebuild we finally get to show off our new capital Varhelm. Before everyone runs off to watch our video i’d like to give some credit where credit is due for this build. A big thanks to @DizPanda for helping out with the clan houses/a bunch of interiors while I was busy making Surge for everyone. Another huge thanks to @Knightie for his awesome boats he made for us. A massive thanks to@Sarah. for doing the whole palace interior, like seriously that thing is SEVEN FLOORS. And last but not least a great big thanks to our entire prebuild team, I know some times we were about to lose our minds, and others I was extremely picky about the build, but thanks for sticking it through, without you guys we wouldn’t have made our deadline. So without further adieu... Also just a little aside this is the first video I’ve properly done for a build I’ve worked on so I'm sure its pretty awful, but hey you get the idea. See you guys in Almaris!

  12. At the crack of dawn, a young Qalasheen girl waves her handkerchief from the edge of Al-Wakhrah’s docks. A sad farewell with a feeling of longing - already wanting her father to come back home. The fleet was almost out of sight, vanishing in the thick mist that blanketed the horizon. A group of men and women gathered into the captain’s quarters of the HMS Temp Thersist. The Oberdiktator sits at his desk, looking to those among him. To his left, the Caliph Faiz Kharadeen of Al-Wakhrah. To his right, Marshal Richard Revlis of The Horde of Dunamis. Across from him are some of the men and women of Hallowvale. “Gentlemen…-.” The Oberdiktator nods to everyone in attendance. “I do not call myself a conqueror. I do, however, call myself someone not to **** with!” The Oberdiktator slams his balled fist upon the desk. “My patience has been tried for too long. I restrained myself when these degenerates dared lay hand upon my business affiliates. I warned them to never disrespect the laws of our land again. And what do I get for showing patience? ****. They literally reached out and gave me a handful of their pagan ****. And what do they expect me to do with their ****? Stand there and hold it like some sort of yoctogram? SOME HECTOPASCAL? Nae, I will toss it back into their faces and put them down like the disobedient dogs they are.” “Frederick, listen.” Caliph Faiz Kharadeen speaks softly in a calm voice. “The Red Brothers are enemies of the Reich. They’re enemies to us all. While I do not condone wanton killing, Allah favors us for our cause is just. Here, come outside.” The Caliph leads the way outside as the Oberdiktator and others follow. As the fleet of ships continued on, they come towards a massive battleship with red sails emerging from the mist. Of eastern work, the ship’s grandeur was unparalleled to other naval vessels in Vailor. Though perhaps it was a bit eccentric and flamboyant in style. “What the ****…?” The Oberdiktator gawks at the ship with his voice trailing off. “Here it is, Frederick. I once served your grandfather Voron loyally. And now I give this gift to the Reich.” The Caliph smiles to the Oberdiktator, happy with his shocked reaction. “What do we call it?” He ***** an eyebrow up, looking to the Caliph. “HMS Beltran's mutinium, also known as HMS Make it Reich. It reminds me of a slantie who once served your grandfather. Perhaps one day, you will find a comrade who will display loyalty equivalent to that man.” The Oberdiktator breaks out into a smile as he pats the Caliph on the back. Others from all across the fleet gazed upon the battleship and broke out into their own individual chants representing where they were from. For the first time since the Ducal War, the men and women of what was once only Khalestine were united. Karakatua, Sutica, Al-Wakhrah, Blackwater Bay, and Hallowvale. All other faction chants were drowned out as one chant emerged victorious, unifying the people. “FIDAI FIDAI FIDAI FIDAI - FREE THE CAMELS!” The suns breaks through the mist, lighting the fleet’s way to Norland. ______________________________________________________________________ For the wanton disrespect for the laws of Vandoria and Her vassals including but not limited to attacking men and women of the military and civilians, attempted assassinations on various nobles, property damage while attempting to break and enter closed off places, attempting to incite traitorous behavior within Vandoria and her lands, attacking allies and business partners, banditing on Vandoria’s roads and marching their armies through Vandorian land, the Königreich of Vandoria has decided to purge the “Norlandese” and the Red Brothers.
