II. THE FRIENDSHIP OF SAINTS

The second PAINT THE SAINT night of the PARADISIAN COURT was once more hosted by Her Excellency, Hedwig of Warsovia, in the Hand of Horen. Following the success of the last session, the Lady Chamberlain sees fit to instate the artistic session as a yearly event, for the population of the great kingdom of Aaun to revel in artistry and embrace their creativity.

Whilst the challenge of guessing Saint Godwin with descriptive clues bloomed fruitful art pieces, this session posed an intriguing question: OUT OF ALL OF THE CANONIST SAINTS, WHO WOULD END UP BEING GREAT FRIENDS? Purely theoretical, courtiers had the chance to group together saints based on their own justifications as to, if they were alive at the same time, whether or not they would be good friends. Additionally, they were handed a paper list of all of the saints; the choice of who they would pick being fully theirs. Once more did the attendees grab their paint brushes with eagerness, ready to unleash their artisan personas.  The results of Paint the Saint night will be showcased below.

The first PAINT THE SAINT night of the PARADISIAN COURT was hosted last saints day in the depths of the Hand of Horen. Hosted by Lady Hedwig of Warsovia, the twist on the usual art nights put on by courts of yore was inspired by the apostolic nature of the Kingdom of Aaun. Instead of painting whatever came to mind, courtiers would have a chance to use their Canonist knowledge to guess a saint based on three descriptive clues. Then, with those clues, one will paint an interpretation of the saint. The clues were as followed:

• He is one of the sons of Exalted Horen.
• The patron saint of the Heartlanders.
• A diocese is currently named after him.

As one could guess, this session’s saint was SAINT GODWIN. A key figure in Aaunic society as its first king, it was only appropriate that the night should pay tribute to him. Everyone present took to their canvases and paint brushes in the instant, and began to work on their masterpieces. The results of Paint the Saint night will be showcased below.

THE ROYAL COURT OF 1972

TO OUR ESTEEMED REALM,

Long has it been since the last Royal Court was hosted within the HAND OF HOREN. This time has allowed Our Apostolic Kingdom to rebuild what was lost during the turbulent reign of Our royal nephew, King Edmund II. Many things have since changed. We have returned triumphant from the war waged against the League of Veletz and their allies, in which we fought alongside our Canonist brethren of the Grand Covenant. We have released the WESTMARCH from the tyrannical and faithless grip of the Stassions, uniting the Lowlands under one crown. We have laid the foundation for Our new Royal Government which after years of dormancy has come into fruition.

Thus do We hereby proclaim that in the year of our Lord 1972, all subjects of the Kingdom of Aaun are summoned to come forth and attend the first proper session of THE APOSTOLIC COURT OF AAUN.

From lowly carrier pigeons to exotic parrots, her menagerie has grown quite impressive over the last few years.

Now, in coming months of her fifteenth name-day, Lady Jazlowiecki wishes to open the doors of NOWA WARSOVIA for the denizens of Aaun and her allies to meet her birds, and learn more about the different species that reside in the local area of Langkette. Those who will attend will have the chance to hold the birds and gain more knowledge in how these birds can be used for things such as sending letters, in hunts and much more. Perhaps one will have their future told, a sign from a flap of a wing, that brings either peace or havoc to those present...

This is my first newsletter, and I have decided to gather all the events that have happened in Our Kingdom of Aaun, even during the dark times of War. This letter will also inform readers on vacant positions of the Royal Court.

I have chosen to make this short and simple, so I do not distract people from their necessary duties.

     The Royal Baptism of the two Alstions, children of King John, were baptized in the Chapel of our Lady of Paradisius by Frantzisko Bishop Buron. Prince Charles, The Lord Alba, a mere toddler, and Princess Royal Josephine an infant.

     A witness reports a sheep almost eating King John’s hair during the event.

                             MERRYWEATHER MERRY SWAP

      The Aaunic Court and citizens alike of Aaun join together in merry festivities. These festivities include, galas, gift exchanging, and treat tasting, all which celebrate the lively spirit of Krugsmas. The people who signed up for the Merryweather swap - ran by the Lord Mayor Boon, received their gifts in the tavern together.

     CLOSING STATEMENT

This is the end of the newsletter, in the year of our Lord, 1955. Our Aaunic Court has planned very good events, and there are bound to be more in the future.

INTRODUCTION

As such jolly, though joyous times befall upon our beloved Nation the Chamberlain and the Alba Council saw it was time to host a ball. Despite the brutal times that have befallen us, we host such an event to uplift the spirits of many.

We ask that everyone in attendance wear Red and Green to symbolize the primary colors of Tuvmas. We invite our allies the covenant of five to join us in these festivities.

Guests are ushered into the Whitespires walls and arrive at the Tuvmas-like wonderland, greeted by carolers and warm Tuvmas beverages and trinkets to kick off the festive spirit.

Royal Tuvmas Address by King John I
Gathering in the grand hall as His Royal Majesty, King John I delivers a heartfelt Tuvmas address, expressing gratitude, sharing Tuvmas traditions, and invoking the spirit of joy within our nation.

Twilight Ice Skating Extravaganza
As the Royal Tuvmas Address concludes and the night begins to fall, guests and citizens are once again ushered outside of the palace to enjoy a magical ice skating session under the twinkling Tuvmas lights, creating a picturesque winter scene.

Twinkling Midnight Ballroom
The night culminates in a grand ballroom celebration, featuring a mix of Tuvmas classics and contemporary tunes, allowing guests to dance the night away in Aaunic style. The final dance shall be the Golden Dragon, a traditional Aaunic dance.

EVENT ITINERARY
           A Festive Cookie Exchange
           To begin the event, and as guests begin to filter in, all are welcomed to bring and exchange
           Krugsmas-themed cookies. 

           The Krugsmas Best-Dressed Contest
           The Lady Chamberlain shall then host a pageant and act as part of a panel of judges to determine
           the man and woman that best exemplify the holiday spirit. At its conclusion, the Queen will give a
           personal award to the winning pair, and they shall act as the opening dancers for the Evening Gala.

           Attendees are encouraged to pair up for the evening set of three songs; the first traditionally
           long-standing couples, and the latter two shall, in the Krugsmas spirit, make introductions or learn
           about those that one has not previously met.

           As the night winds down, a Krugsmas Champagne bottle provided by Boon and Bane will be
           popped open by the royal couple, before wines will be put out for tastings, paired with traditional

INTRODUCTION
Wardship, a venerable institution that has withstood the test of time, has played a crucial role for centuries in imparting not only formal education but also invaluable life lessons to individuals in their formative years. This time-honoured practice serves a dual purpose, benefiting both the mentor assuming the role and the ward placed under their guidance.

The essence of Wardship transcends mere academic instruction, extending into the realms of mentorship and personal development. Through this age-old tradition, experienced individuals take on the responsibility of guiding and shaping the lives of those younger and less experienced. This mentor-mentee relationship is founded on the principles of knowledge transfer, character building, and fostering a sense of responsibility.

EXPECTATIONS

In the tradition of wardship, wards bear significant expectations, emphasising their need to be proactive and supportive. The success of the mentor-ward relationship relies on the ward's commitment to embody their mentor's virtues. This symbiotic relationship underscores the ward's role in upholding their mentor's principles. Wards actively engage in learning practical skills associated with their role, ensuring a comprehensive understanding. It is incumbent upon wards to ensure their mentorship journey doesn't burden mentors. They must seek guidance, complete tasks diligently, and show eagerness to learn, reinforcing mutual respect. This reciprocal dynamic contributes to the mentor's satisfaction, fostering a positive mentorship atmosphere. In essence, wardship demands active engagement and commitment from both parties, with wards playing a pivotal role in sustaining this venerable tradition.

TYPES OF WARDS

The term "ward" encompasses a diverse array of roles, constituting an umbrella term that spans various ways individuals can serve under someone. Examples include Ladies-In-Waiting, Maids of Honor, Assistants to Council Members, and more. Maids of Honor serve the Queen, while Ladies-In-Waiting serve the other lady royals. Despite the distinct nature of each role, common expectations persist across all wards. Whether one is in a traditional or administrative capacity, the fundamental principles of being proactive, supportive, and embodying the virtues of their mentor remain consistent. The universality of these expectations underscores the overarching commitment required from individuals serving in any wardship role, emphasising the enduring and versatile nature of the concept.

The stewardship of this refined court is entrusted to the distinguished Lady Chamberlain, Clementine Francisca of Salia. Under her governance, and with the gracious blessing of Her Majesty, the courts are poised not only to function but to flourish, and to ascend to become something great. 

May this proclamation resonate with the regality befitting our court, and may the Paradisian Court thrive and prosper under the illustrious reign of Queen-Consort Amelia  of Middelan.

HEAD TO ALL COURTS

The Queen-Consort of Aaun is the pillar of the Courts; all members below shall fall in line and align themselves to be above her expectations. The Queen-Consort shall hold and forever have direct authority over the structure, culture, function, and traditions of the Paradisian Court. The Queen though has constant and direct power, in case of her absence, Lady Alba shall hold this authority in her stead.

HEAD TO THE COUNCIL OF ALBA

Whoever assumes the position of Lady Chamberlain shall be appointed and considered the senior most member of the Alba Council. They have bestowed the task of managing the court in the interests of the Consorts, aiding in its functioning and growth. Despite the weight of the responsibilities, this member must be competent and well versed in court etiquettes, and be able to command authority and show great leadership skills, considering they shall lead the Paradisian Court.

The Council of Alba comprises women of grace, intellect, and unwavering dedication, each chosen for their outstanding capabilities and commitment to the court's wellbeing. Under the wise guidance of the Lady Chamberlain, these esteemed ladies play a pivotal role in managing the intricate tapestry of courtly affairs, ensuring a harmonious environment within the courtly precincts.

Head to the Office of Household

The Majordomo is a highly respected member of the court who manages the grand palace and all its affairs. They work closely with other council members to ensure the smooth functioning of the court. In addition to being the keeper of the palace keys, they supervise the servantry and welcome new courtiers and nobility into the court. The Majordomo is an expert in court etiquette and is responsible for organising courtiers on the proper decorum to observe. They are also responsible for designing and implementing court education programs.

Positions within the Office of  Household,

The Court Chaplain [Father Frantzisko | Nescaffier] - The Chaplain, normally the Archbishop of Albarosa or the Bishop of Buron or Gelimar, will be in charge of managing all religious matters concerning the palace's courtiers. They must be certified by the church and will have a variety of responsibilities, including organising charities, baptisms, prayers, and rites of maturity. The Chaplain will also be available to provide religious advice to the court when needed, and is critical in ensuring that the court's religious needs are met and that the courtiers have a trusted figure to turn to for guidance.

The Royal Confessor [Father Leofric | MCVDK] - The Royal Confessor, normally but not always the priest in charge of the Chapel of Our Lady of Paradisus, acts as the personal confessor and confidante of His and Her Majesty’s Royal Household. They give advice, both personal and religious, to the Queen, and act too as a steward of the court’s morality in the eyes of the Mother Church.

Mistress of the Robes [Parisa Monet | Sefardi] - Just as the Principal Secretary personally waits upon His Majesty, the Mistress of the Robes is the foremost handmaid of the Queen. She manages the daily schedule of Her Majesty the Queen, as well as 

The Keeper of the Crown Jewels [Daniel Gale | Aehmi] - The Keeper of the Crown Jewels is essential within the court, as their primary responsibility is to ensure the preservation and protection of the Royal Regalia collection. Their duties are fulfilling the documentation of the collection, as well as the pursuit of expanding it. The Keeper of the Crown Jewels plays a crucial role in upholding the integrity and historical significance of the Royal Regalia, thereby contributing to the preservation of the monarchy's cultural heritage.

Governor/Governess - Court governors and governesses are responsible for caring for and educating the children of the court and the Royal Household. They are trusted with the responsibility of providing care and guidance that will shape the future of these young individuals. To fulfil this role, they must possess not only exceptional intellect but also a great deal of patience and empathy to ensure that the children under their care receive the best possible education and upbringing advisor.
Ladies-in-Waiting, Grooms of the Privy & Maids of Honour - These courtiers are intricately crafted to serve as loyal and devoted companions to the members of the Royal Household to whom they are assigned. With their refined and sophisticated demeanour, they provide personal assistance and support to their assigned individuals, ensuring that their every need is met with the utmost care and attention.
The Servantry - The Hand of Horen relies on the diligent work of its servantry to maintain its smooth operation. All servants must ensure that the halls of the palace are kept in impeccable condition. It is expected that both butlers and maids remain available at all times to cater to any events taking place within the Hand. They must be prepared to provide their services, as required, in a timely and efficient manner.

The Grand Reveller is  responsible for the upkeep and designing of the event schedule. Their duties may also include Hosting events outside the court, overseeing productions at the renowned theatre The Plane, and managing events during the Aaunic social season. The multifaceted nature of their role necessitates extensive knowledge of creative arts such as theatre, music, and dance, as these are essential components in delivering exceptional and engaging entertainment experiences.

Given the importance of the Grand Reveller role, it is fundamental that they possess a deep understanding of the creative arts, this includes staying up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in theatre, music, and dance.

The Master of the Hunt [Stefano Montelliano | Sebbysc] - The individual appointed as the Master of the Hunt holds the crucial responsibility of efficiently managing the Royal hunts and private artillery. The position demands an elite level of expertise in the art of hunting and the maintenance of the royal woods to ensure that the Royal Family can indulge in the sport whenever they desire.

The Revellers - As expert event planners, revellers are responsible for meticulously orchestrating gatherings and ceremonies of diverse scales, ranging from courtly affairs to national events. The revellers' work involves a range of tasks, from conceptualising the events to coordinating with vendors and ensuring smooth execution of the event. Their work demands a unique blend of creativity, organisational skills, and attention to detail, and they take pride in delivering events that are memorable and meaningful for all stakeholders involved.
Division of the Arts - In the past, the organisation was divided into three different sectors. However, it has now been restructured into a unified division that encompasses various roles. The Division comprises of skilled artists who are responsible for providing the courtiers and the royal family with personalized commissions, entertainers of the theatre and The most skilled dancers of the court,who are both responsible for performing and organizing regular productions to ensure that the plane remains vibrant and lively.

Division of Entertainment - This Division is comprised of skilled musicians, minstrels, and bards who are responsible for the management of court songs and performing at events. Their expertise and dedication ensure that the court's musical performances are of the highest quality. They are available to be called upon to perform at events as required.

Head to the Office of Enlightenment

The role of the High Curator within the court is one of great importance and responsibility. As the overseer of all publications and texts within the court, the High Curator plays a crucial role in preserving knowledge, literature, and academic pursuits. In addition to these duties, the High Curator is also responsible for the intellectual arts, culture, and history of the realm. The person selected for this role must possess a wealth of knowledge and expertise to ensure that the court remains at the forefront of knowledge and learning. The curator’s guidance is essential in fostering a thriving intellectual environment that encourages a passion for learning and academic pursuits. The duties of the High Curator are instrumental in creating an intellectual legacy that endures for future generations. 

Positions within the Office of Enlightenment,

Head Librarian[Witold Jazloviecki | Rohlik] - This Courtier oversees the library of the Royal Hall of St. Godwin. They protect and mentor these books of information and upkeep such books to ensure all can inform themselves of various historical events. Whomever shall be in charge must be organized, and good in management and knowledgeable on several Historical periods.

The Lady/Lord Archivist [Ser Alaric deNeurem | Paulobig] - The archivist is charged with upkeeping the more intimate ongoings of the royal household including births, special events, and changes in power. 

The Court Apothecary [VACANT] - This scholar shall be charged with all alchemical studies for the betterment of the nation, as well as overseeing other alchemists. Simply knowing alchemy itself is not enough, for the Master Alchemist ought to be capable of different types of the craft, considering its knowledge is so vast. They shall be tasked with providing regular studies for the court. 

The Court Herald [VACANT] - A retainer of the Queen not only tasked with upkeep the daily duties of the Council of Alba, but one tasked with announcing courtly initiatives, festivities, decrees, and national news to the common folk of Aaun. To meet these demands and responsibilities, the Court Herald, with the help of the Curator, shall be charged with printing a yearly newsletter detailing these very things. 

Division of Scholars - This division holds all philosophers and scribes of the Kingdom of Aaun. They are constantly at work, making regular or daily publications of their findings or research and etc.

PREFACE

Thanks to the tireless work of previous Mistresses of the Wardrobes, the Office of Cultivation, and the current Mistress, Lady Ideline, is pleased to announce an incipient project in which the styles in regions of Aaun will be reported on in delightful detail for all to study. Since the move to Aveos, Aaun has settled nicely into the picturesque standard of human civilization through the consequential work of the Lords and Ladies that reside throughout the country. 

For many years Whitespire has stood as the heart of Aaunic culture and values, but with the seeds of vassals being planted outside of the capital, Whitespire has commenced to be its own center of sprouting customs. With the relocation of Boon & Bane and the inclusion of apparel to purchase, as well as the aperture of Princess Caesonia’s boutique, the couture of Whitespire has never been more popular. 

As in all cultures, the styles of a region are dictated by those in potent positions. Whitespire, being home to the Royal Family, is first and foremost sanctioned by royal couture followed by the Crown’s vassals, the Baronies of Bourgh, Virdain, Gotfridcher, and Napoliza. All of these families have had an immense impact on the reported trends in the last decade with eminent members serving in the guard, courts, regime, or running businesses within the city or floodplains.

MEN’S FASHION

Largely overlooked by other courts, Men’s style is as consequential as their female counterparts. The couture of Whitespire is inspired predominantly by Aaun’s meager predecessor; the Harvest Confederacy. Unlike the Harvest Lord's though, Whitespire is filled with affluent men who dress with pride for their country. The garbs are composed of three key components: the cloak, the tunic, and the trousers with additional adjuncts and finaries integrated to designate the class of an individual.

Cloaks are prevalent among all of Aaun fashion but are especially present in Whitespire. There are two key styles discerned around the city, one of which is a short fur-lined cloak that is designed so the skin of the animal is faced outwards and the fur is faced inwards for warmth. These are customarily sported in the winter months or flipped the other way around in the warmer seasons for flare. Sometimes the heads of the animals are preserved so they can repose on shoulders but this is a very extravagant operation done only by the finest hunters, which are not found in Whitespire. Other cloaks are composed of wool and worn all year round. These come in all different colors with aurum embroidery. All cloaks are generally clipped together with brooches of a conventionally circular shape or otherwise fastened with tying, lacing, or clasping with natural materials such as animal bones. Moreover, if a cloak is not worn a jacket is. These jackets are tunics without sleeves or tunics that are opened in the middle and fastened with buttons. 

Tunics are the fundamental part of the men’s attire in Whitespire as they cover the chest and arms. They are cut by the hip or knee and can either have long or short sleeves. Sometimes, tunics are layered with a long sleeve below the short sleeve to create layers. The long-sleeved styles additionally bolster cuffs or extra embroideries around the wrist. Belts or leather girdles are worn on the waist and infrequently have buckles or extra fastenings to carry pouches. The dyes of the tunics range from deep purples to dark browns, but customarily, lighter colors are evaded for ease of cleaning.

A Whitespire guard off-duty

Trousers, otherwise known as pants or leggings, are worn under the tunic and down to the man’s ankles. They are ordinarily a dark gray or brown color and if excess material subsists it is bunched around the waist. On occasions, loops are sewn into the trousers for belts and pouches for carrying items with ease. Extra woven fabrics or leather are integrated from the knee to the ankle when it is cold for added protection. 

When it comes to footwear, the men of Whitespire favor the enduring appeal of leather shoes, a testament to the city's craftsmanship. These shoes, characterized by their durability and timeless design, are often secured with meticulously crafted straps.

Finally, the more influential a person is, the more likely they are to embellish their ensemble with precious metals and gems. Gold headwear, in particular, emerges as a symbol of affluence and prestige. Those who hold positions of power or wield substantial influence in the city choose to wear circlets to formal events or to add aurum to the hems of hats.

In review, the couture of men in Whitespire consists of cloaks, tunics, and trousers. Cloaks, whether fur-lined or woolen, are adorned with brooches or ties, while tunics come in various lengths and sleeve styles. Dark trousers are paired with leather shoes to reflect the city’s craftsmanship. Influential figures opt for precious metal and gem embellishments to symbolize prestige. Overall, it encapsulates the unique blend of traditional and social hierarchy that defines Whitespire as a whole.

WOMEN’S FASHION

In Whitespire we have witnessed the natural progression, albeit fascinating evolution, of women’s trends. Clothing has become a matter of style, reflecting the social status, religious beliefs, and evolving tastes of the ladies of Whitespire. 

Regardless of ladies' regional differences, Aaunic couture exhibits a remarkable sense of unity. It is characterized by loose, flowing, and unrestrictive silhouettes, a style that transcends social classes, appealing to both commoners and nobility alike. The gowns are ankle or floor-length with trains for formal occasions. Sleeves are either fitted and heavily decorated or left to hang low and free. Sleeveless gowns are an unfitted rectangle piece of cloth with an opening for the head and worn over a chamise. 

Outdoors, women wore cloaks or mantles often lined with fur and in the colder months it was common to see ladies in gloves, hats, and other winter related accessories. Footwear is also changed between the indoors and outdoors with delicate heels worn inside, especially at court, and stronger leather shoes were far more fashionable outside. 

Furthermore, not only do both men and women don cloaks, but both men and women commonly wear armors in the city or outside the city in representation of one's strength and pride for the country. While it is frequented by men, the sight of female sets of armor are beginning to increase within the city's walls! Most famously Princess Aleksandra has donned her Merryweather family armor around the city in times of crisis whilst men like Ser Gawyn or Squire Philip have been seen in their own commissioned sets. 

A lady of the Clementine Courts

Gold embellishments are a common choice for clothing details among women, serving as a marker of status and affiliation with the Whitespirian court. For younger women, gold is ingeniously incorporated into their hairstyles, often taking the form of decorative wiring. Elaborate braids, buns, and stylized Illatian headwear like hairnets and coiffures, all find favor among noble women in the capital. For older women, veils and various styles of wimples are popular choices, exuding an air of timeless elegance. 

Brighter colors are favored by women, occasionally complemented by moody autumnal shades like mauve reds and browns. Royal purple enjoys particular popularity, though it is most frequently worn by members of the Royal Household, signifying their regal status and connection to the ruling elite. 

Finally, pins, brooches, necklaces, and other jewelry are added to elevate the look of the individual. However, a thin line is walked with this as too many embellishments are seen as overly excessive and frowned upon by older women in society.

CHILDREN’S

The world of children's couture, in contrast to its adult counterpart, is a realm that remains somewhat underdeveloped, primarily due to the fleeting nature of childhood itself. As children transition into adulthood, their clothing choices undergo a transformation, and yet, this transition is accompanied by subtle modifications to preserve the innocence and modesty that is synonymous with childhood.

When it comes to boys' attire, one can observe a distinctive style marked by longer tunics that extend beyond the knee, often featuring long sleeves for added coverage. Occasionally, these tunics are adorned with intricate embellishments, including rare touches of gold. However, it's essential to remember that children outgrow their clothing at a rapid pace, making such lavish detailing a relatively uncommon sight. To shield their legs from the elements, boys typically don various shades of stockings, and they often embrace wrap-around cloaks. These cloaks are designed with extra fabric around the shoulders, providing not only warmth but also a sanctuary for the young ones. In contrast to the ornate aurum headgear favored by adults, boys opt for simpler yet equally cozy fur-lined hats to crown their heads or nothing at all. 

On the other side of the spectrum, girls' couture closely mirrors the fashion choices of their adult counterparts. They don long, ankle-length tunics or gowns, most often in white or lighter hues, which serve as an outer layer delicately draped over darker, intricately embroidered undergowns. These undergarments often evolve with the child and are carried into adolescence. The emulation of adult style is apparent in the length of the sleeves, the tasteful addition of embellishments, and the selection of elaborate hairstyles adorned with delicate accessories, all carefully chosen to complement the wearer's age and innocence. The primary deviation lies in the use of belts, which serve as ornamental accessories rather than functional necessities, a departure from the utilitarian role they typically play in adult women's attire.

ALTRUISTIC STYLES

With each added edition of the Office of the Head Bellwether’s exploration of Aaunic styles, the esteemed Mistress of the Robes and her many lady-maids have dedicated regalia for the common person to wear in times of need or simply wants! With each new paper, two more outfits will be added to a growing collection of free garbs for the Aaunic people to revel in. 

The two styles in this edition feature classic Whitespire styles inspired by prominent figures within the community. The first of the two is for ladies and features a comfortable smock to wear under a white tunic with blue embroidery along the cusps. For extra warmth and protection against the strange weather patterns across Aveos, a cloak was added and secured with aurum brooches.

The second of the two designs is set for men’s casual wear and is a black tunic and aurum embroidery. The sleeves are a bright crimson ending with fitted gloves. A cape is also added to this to fend away the weather along with high boots and fur-lined pants.

Whitespire and all of the United Kingdom have already initiated the necessary arrangements for His Majesty’s coronation. There is a celebratory atmosphere in “New Paradisus” as preparations are ongoing. It is the aim of The Office of Entertainment to begin King Edmund’s reign with grand celebrations. – Let all Aaunites, young and old, rejoice at the couronnement of The Young King!

It is with great joy that as Court Herald that we have been afforded the privilege of announcing the itinerary for the upcoming coronation. There shall be a series of events, We urge all that can, to attend as many of the ceremonies and festivities as they are able. Long Live King Edmund! –

ORDER  OF  SERVICE :

➢ His Majesty, The King shall be Baptised in The Silver Sea. The ceremony is to be led by His Excellency, Bishop of Buron, Father Mikhael.

➢ His Majesty, shall then assemble with the members of his Royal Procession at The Hand of Horen. Once gathered His Majesty and The Royal Procession shall leave The Hand of Horen, entering Whitespire proper.

➢ They shall proceed through the city, to be observed by onlookers, until they reach The Hall of Saint Godwin, where they shall be greeted by The Lord Mayor of Whitespire and The Ward Representatives.

➢ The Royal Procession will then continue. But first, they shall take a well deserved pause to observe a play that is to be performed at The Plane, in The King’s honour. After which The Royal Procession shall continue out of the western gate and towards The Temple of The Four Exalted Prophets.

➢ All citizens of The United Kingdom of Aaun, nobles and peasants alike, and specially invited leaders of foreign, Canonist realms, shall all unite in the grand basilica to observe the official coronation of His Majesty, King Edmund II of Aaun. The rites shall be led by The High Pontiff and then followed by all the necessary statutory instruments that need to be fulfilled.

This Saint’s Year, His Majesty’s Regency Council, graced the good people of Aaun with a session of The Royal Court. Many initiatives were decreed and the many great achievements of The Regency Council were also announced. Her Majesty, The Queen-Mother, showed great initiative by leading the session and demonstrated, with the other members of the council, that The Young King’s realm has been led by the finest of Aaun. In solidarity for the excellent work that has been done by members of The Regency Council, several members were blessed with the distribution of honours & titles. 

➢ Sir Gawyn Tiber Knight Grandmaster of the Order of Paradisus, was promoted to Prince of Beaufort. A very touching honour as this was the title that was once held by his ancestors, a fine reward for all the work he has done for Aaun and her people.

➢ Sergeant Louis Haverlock, another greatly valued member of The Regency Council, was also presented with honours for his service. He has been named Count of Talentine. The Haverlock family has served the kingdom for many years now, and are more than deserving of this honour.

A special thanks should be also afforded to each member of The Regency Council, they have beckoned a new age for Aaun and her people. This despite the terrible passing of the late, great Lord of Alba, Prince Henry, may he Rest in Peace.

An honourable mention must also be made to His Majesty, King Edmund. The Young King made his first appearance before The Royal Court, during the session. He presented himself with the finest dignity, as he was led unto his throne by The Queen-Mother. He sat with kingly grace and decorum, it is clear His Majesty was born for the role of King. Long Live The King!

HE  big thing that we are currently working on is reforming The Legion into the new City Watch, which will be able to provide more security for the city. The roads to Whitespire should also be safer because of this. This also demonstrates the more peaceful nature we hope to achieve. As of now there is no need for a standing army, but a professional police force for the city. We are also working on other projects that will build a greater sense of community and showcase the city's cultures.

We were very pleased to attend the most recent lecture held at the University of Albarosa. Taught by our most pious Bishop of Buron. Described in His Excellency’s lecture were important lessons that should be understood by all nobles of the Canonist realms. His Excellency hoped to hold a discussion about the importance of nobles in the spiritual and worldly sense, which proved to be an very interesting topic He outlined how Kings are the overseers for Almighty God, more precisely: they are charged with ruling over the lands and waters as God’s worldly representatives. 

Nobles, however, are to act as their liege’s extension. They are gifted territories to manage in the name of their monarch. Their position as nobility is to simply act as the extending hands of their king, to aid in his councils, courts and other administrative institutions.

We shall offer a quote, that was said by His Excellency, that so nicely suits the theme of these Courtly Letters. The Bishop describes the role of kings, under God. Words that should be pondered upon during these upcoming coronation religious ceremonies.

The Office of Enlightenment, newly formed since the Clementine Court Reforms of 1936, is an office tasked with the development, propagation, and improvement of intellectual endeavors within the entirety of the United Kingdom of Aaun. The Office is headed by a Head Curator, currently CUNIMUND HAL’CINGEDOZ, who has a cadre of specialists including the Lord Archivist, currently SER ALARIC DENUREM; Head Librarian, currently WITOLD JAZLOWIECKI; Grand Mage, currently WILLEM WICK; Court Herald, currently RICHARD VON LEOPOLD; & the Master Alchemist with no one seated in this position as of the Imperial Year 1937.

In addition to the cadre of specialists, the office welcomes scholars regardless of their station or royal birth to collaborate with us. Whether individuals seek an official position, to be contracted for specific projects, or work part time for an agreed-upon period of time; we welcome those who are willing to work in cooperation either on projects initiated from the head of our office or on projects suggested by those individuals.

That we may give the clearest of details on what we intend with the phrase intellectual arts, we will give an overview of the different genres of the intellectual arts that our readers or hopeful scholars may be further encouraged to reach out to us.

Let there be no doubt that the Clementine Court does owe a great debt to the women who took the mantle of forming its structure. If not for the efforts of the former LADY ALBA, LADY MELINA-ISABEAU OF HIGH PEAK, and MISS JULIETTA HAVERLOCK, the court most surely would not have survived this nation’s transitionary period onto this new continent.

That said, we now arrive at a new day. Following the reestablishment, we on the Alban Council have had ample time to watch the functionality of the court under this formation. The structure lacks just that—structure. The majority of our courtiers have taken advantage of its lenient form, offering little to no contribution at a time when the court needs it the most.

Therefore, the Lady Chamberlain hereby offers an immediate restructuring of all responsibilities and duties to ensure that our courtiers do not grow content in their leisure and indolence. In no way is this meant to replace the foundation made by my predecessors; it is merely an improvement. 

THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE CLEMENTINE COURT

I. The Clementine Court shall receive a formative order; a chain of command so that each courtier has someone to defer to. The Council of Alba shall serve as the head of the courts, and all without a position to lead shall be categorized in their respective sects.

II. It shall be the utmost duty of the Clementine Court to redefine for our citizens what it means to be an Aaunite. A common link must be found between the Kingdom’s many cultures, and utilized to create the perfect national identity for our people to take pride in. Through establishing culture and tradition, this identity the court creates shall strive to be one based on poise, ambition, and ingenuity—all the traits that ought to be seen within our subjects.

III. In the latest organizational overhaul, our establishment is undergoing a transformation into four distinct departments to meet the demands of this new cultural mission. 

The Office of Cultivation, dedicated to the arts, will be a hub of creativity and cultural enrichment, nurturing talents in various forms of expression. 

The Office of Entertainment will focus on events, celebrating joy and revelry, ensuring that merriment and mirth are always in abundance. 

The Office of the Household will uphold the spirit of servitude, diligently attending to the needs and requirements of our esteemed patrons. 

The Office of Enlightenment will focus on intellectual pursuits, pursuing knowledge for the benefit of the kingdom and the human mind itself.

As part of this restructuring, redundant positions will be phased out, making room for more relevant roles that align with the vision and goals of each department. This reconfiguration promises to bring about greater efficiency, productivity, and a harmonious balance throughout our institution.

IV. To avoid cases similar to the one of Lady Allessandra Amador, let those who hold a position within the Clementine Court be barred from holding positions in courts outside of Aaun. Not only will this ensure that their focus remains on the duties of their position, but it will ensure that their loyalties remain to the Crown. 

V. Positions within the court shall offer citizens closer access to the royal household than is normal. Therefore, let all holding a position within the courts be subject to dark spawn testing, to ensure the safety of the crown and all who serve it.

HEAD TO ALL THE COURTS

The Queen and the Lady Alba1 are the pillars to which all its members must defer. The Consorts hold direct authority over their court's structure, culture, functions, and traditions, with the ability to appoint whomever they please. Given their respective stations, the incumbent Queen shall have more direct authority than the Lady Alba, but in the case that the Queen is absent, the Lady Alba shall hold this authority in her stead.

1) Given that there is no current Lady Alba, considering the death of HRH, Prince Henry, and the succession of HRM, Edmund I, the Viscountess of Valence shall assume the role of a Queen-Mother, while Edith of Reinmar assume the role of Dowager Queen. These are both Dowager roles, and the two shall hold such authority until a new Queen-Consort is invested.

HEAD TO THE COUNCIL OF ALBA

Whosoever takes this position shall be appointed the most senior member of the Council of Alba and given the laborious task of managing the court in the interest of the Consorts, aiding in its functioning and prosperity. Given these immense responsibilities, it is of the utmost importance that this member not only be competent in the protocol of the court, but also hold a striking sense of leadership, considering they shall hold the highest authority on the Council.

 THE COUNCIL OF ALBA

In the dawn of a new era for the Council of Alba, a transformative directive has been set in motion. Beyond merely providing counsel, members of the council are now called to take an active role in the effective management of various court departments. The expectation is for each council member to exhibit exceptional proficiency in their respective areas, ensuring that their expertise and guidance translate into tangible results. With this paradigm shift, the council's role evolves into one of active leadership, fostering a cohesive and well-structured governance. By integrating their wealth of knowledge and experience into departmental management, the council will play a vital role in fostering efficiency, collaboration, and progress within the realm. This progressive approach embodies a commitment to achieving unprecedented levels of excellence in every facet of the court's operation.

Gone are the days when this esteemed position was solely reserved for consorts of the highest standing. Instead, merit shall be the key determinant for appointing individuals to this crucial role. Candidates vying for the position must demonstrate not only a deep understanding of court protocol but also possess extensive knowledge of the needs and aspirations of the people of Aaun. A Royal Councillor must be attuned to the pulse of the realm, understanding the intricacies and challenges faced by both courtiers and citizens alike. By promoting individuals based on their competence, wisdom, and empathy, the court aims to create a more responsive and compassionate governance that addresses the genuine requirements of the realm. This transformative approach is set to enrich the fabric of the court, allowing it to function more cohesively and effectively while earning the respect and admiration of all.

Mirroring the previous requirements and duties of the Councillors of Alba, a few select Royal Advisors shall sit within the council, their duties to offer wisdom and guidance to the Consorts and Chamberlain as needed. Though they shall be required to attend the meetings of the Council, they shall hold no executive power.

HEAD TO THE OFFICE OF THE HOUSEHOLD

The Majordomo plays a pivotal role in maintaining the household's cohesion and functionality. They oversee staffing, including ladies-in-waiting/handmaids, manage the court purse, and allocate palace rooms, ensuring essential requirements are met, thus holding high precedence regarding the staff of the court. However, the Queen and Chamberlain take precedence over them if involved in the court's day-to-day running.

Those under the Majordomo's authority include;

Governors and Governesses: These courtiers are tasked with the care and education of both the children of the court and of the Royal Household. As such, they must be exceptional in intellect and know the virtue of patience.

Ladies-in-Waiting, Royal Valets & Maids of Honor: These courtiers are designed to be personal companions to whichever members of the Royal Household they are assigned to. A more detailed description of their specific duties shall be published shortly, along with a call for recruitment.

The Servantry: Though the duties of a servant have gone long overlooked, make no mistake; it is because of the servantry that the Hand of Horen remains functioning. It is the duty of all servants to maintain the halls of the palace. Butlers and maids shall remain on call at all events held within the Hand, ready and able to cater when needed.

HEAD TO THE OFFICE OF ENTERTAINMENT

The Reveller assumes the critical responsibility of organizing and designing the entertainment schedule throughout the kingdom. Their duties encompass managing events during the Aaunic social season and overseeing productions at the renowned theater, The Plane. This multifaceted role necessitates extensive knowledge of the creative arts, including theater, music, and dance, as they are crucial elements for delivering exceptional and worthy entertainment experiences.

Those within the Reveller’s authority shall be; 

The Master of the Hunt [HH, Prince Heinrich II Alstreim]: A courtier tasked with the management of the Royal hunts and private artillery. They must be skilled in the art of hunting as well as upkeep of the royal wood so that the Royal Family can hunt with ease whenever they wish to do so. 

The Court Chaplain [Bishop Mikhael of Buron]: This position shall head all religious matters concerning the courtiers of the palace. The Chaplain does not necessarily have to be the cardinal of the region, but they must be certified by the church, and responsible for organizing charities, baptisms, prayers, and rites of maturity. They may also be called upon to offer religious advice.

The Sector of Music: This general sector shall be composed of all the court's musicians, minstrels and bards. These individuals shall be tasked with composing songs for the court, and ought to be available to be called on during events.

The Sector of Theater: This sector shall encompass the entertainers of the theater, including playwrights, actors, and stagehands. To keep The Plane a lively hub of entertainment, all within this sector must be responsible for holding regular productions, the proceeds of which shall fund further entertainment. 

The Sector of Dance: This sector shall be composed of the most skilled dancers of the nation. Be they a choreographer or performer, it is imperative that courtiers of this sector be well-versed in not only ballet, but forms of dance from all over the realm. They shall be tasked with creating studies of these dances, as well as holding performances in The Plane.

HEAD TO THE OFFICE OF CULTIVATION

The Bellwether shall be charged with the culture of the court and the nation itself. They document fashion, national culture, and court decorum. Laundresses are fashion makers that work under the bellwether. The bellwether also leads fashion auctions and sales within the palace walls, which makes them also a manager of the court’s monetary expenses and profits, secondary to the Majordomo and Chamberlain.

Those within the Bellwether's authority shall be: 

The Mistress/Master of Robes [Miss Ida de Villain]: A courtier who must have a keen eye for fashion and its ongoings as they will be charged with keeping up with the trends of not only the city of Whitespire, but the nation as a whole. They shall be assigned with assistants, aptly named the Laundresses, tasked with aiding her endeavors of Aaunic couture.

The Sector of the Arts: This sector encompasses all the court’s painters, sculptors, and general artists. While upkeeping the paintings found on the walls and halls of The Hand, these courtiers will be called on to provide the Royal Household and members of the court with personal commissions.

HEAD TO THE OFFICE OF ENLIGHTENMENT

The Curator has undergone a significant update, assuming a more expansive role that now includes overseeing all publications and texts within the court. Their responsibilities have expanded to encompass the intellectual arts, working in close collaboration with the esteemed Royal Society of St. Godwin and the Northern Geographical Society (NGS). In this enhanced capacity, the Curator plays a pivotal role in curating and preserving knowledge, literature, and intellectual pursuits within the court. Their expertise and guidance contribute to fostering a thriving intellectual environment, ensuring the court remains at the forefront of knowledge and learning.

Those within the Curator’s authority shall be;

Head Librarian [Witold Jazloviecki]: This courtier is responsible for overseeing the entire library inside the Royal Hall of St. Godwin. It is an arduous task to oversee such an abundance of information, the Head Librarian must be skilled in management and have extensive knowledge of the tomes in their arsenal. Documents and works transcribed by the courts and Curator shall be sorted in the library. 

The Lady/Lord Archivist [Ser Alaric deNeurem]: The archivist is charged with upkeeping the more intimate ongoings of the royal household including births, special events, and changes in power. 

The Master Alchemist [VACANT]: This scholar shall be charged with all alchemical studies for the betterment of the nation, as well as overseeing other alchemists. Simply knowing alchemy itself is not enough, for the Master Alchemist ought to be capable of different types of the craft, considering its knowledge is so vast. They shall be tasked with providing regular studies for the court. 

The Grand Mage [Willem Wick]: This scholar is a licensed mage with extensive knowledge of multiple forms of the supernatural, aiding in the interests of the court. Similar to the Master Alchemist, the Grand Mage shall also oversee the licensing and works of other mages of the court. Both the alchemists and mages of the court shall be provided with ample room to practice their craft.

The Court Herald [Richard von Leopold]: A retainer of the Queen not only tasked with upkeep the daily duties of the Council of Alba, but one tasked with announcing courtly initiatives, festivities, decrees, and national news to the common folk of Aaun. To meet these demands and responsibilities, the Court Herald, with the help of the Curator, shall be charged with printing a yearly newsletter detailing these very things. 

The Sector of Scholars: This sector shall encompass all the philosophers and scribes of our nation. To make sure they remain productive, they shall be charged with making regular publications of their findings and discoveries.

ON THE MATTER OF WARDSHIP

Alongside the formation of a structurally sound Council of Alba, and further the Court of Aaun, the same must be done for courtly education. A system, built to uplift youths of the Kingdom by their assignment to high-standing members of the court and senior members of the Royal Household. 

This new system is broken into two distinct sects, the first of which being the Maid of Honor, given only to girls of at least five years of age of noble standing. Maids of Honor are tasked with aiding their assigned Royal companions in day-to-day life alongside their education. The male counterpart of such a position shall be known as a Royal Valet where young lords serve alongside Princes of the Household. 

The second of these two sects is the traditional Ward, with similar parameters of the Maid of Honor role whereby the recipient of such a position—regardless of gender—must be at least five years of age. However, they needn’t be of noble standing nor shall they be assigned to any person of the Royal Household. Instead, a ward will be educated by the member of the court they are paired with. In the special instance where a ward is assigned with succeeding the Grand Mage or Court Alchemist, they may ascend from wardship at the age of sixteen given the complexity of such a role. 

Members of the court are allowed three wards in total at a time, while members of the Royal Household are allowed two Maids of Honor/Royal Valets. Each of these positions are awarded to youths of the Kingdom, meaning, upon the age of majority (16-21 years of age), they may ascend to higher positions at court.

An illustrious age accompanies this new directory, representing a step towards a more efficient and dynamic Clementine Court. Together, with careful consideration and collaboration, we can secure the court's continued success and honor the legacy left by those who forged its path. In the midst of a busy day, the Lady of Alba, alongside Reverend Mother Anna Lucilla, was ushered hastily to her residence within the Hand of Horen. For nearly eight months prior the Crown Princess had been burdened with pregnancy and now that could finally see an end. 

After what seemed like weeks, night had turned to day, and many of the King’s advisors and the princess’ own ladies-in-wait had been called to witness the birth of what was sure to be a second son to secure the line of succession, however, much to the disappointment of the High Aaunic Council, a girl was brought forth. Still, the Lord and Lady Alba seemed content with the babe, more so the latter of the two.

The Lady of Alba, much to her discomfort, waddled up the winding stairs of the Hand of Horen. Accompanied by trusted guard, Gawyn Tiber, and Father Mikhael, the Lady of Alba finally made her way to her chambers near the spire’s highest floor. Soon thereafter, upon the realization that the sickness that had plagued the Crown Princess for months prior was, in fact, a much awaited pregnancy. 

Upon such a realization many of the King’s advisors and the Lady Alba’s own ladies in waiting were swiftly called to the palace, namely Lady Isabella Varoche- the crown princess’ closest confidant. After what seemed to be days the babe was born, much to the excitement of those present, a boy was presented to them.

Prior to the Season itself  the Lady of Alba shall host the ladies of Whitespire to sew and embroider handkerchiefs. This is also to be used as a time in which the young girls at the cusp of adulthood may seek advice from a senior member of Aaun’s Royal Household.

The Hunt of the Whitespirian Stag  3PM EST

Following the Lady of Alba’s soiree the lords of Whitespire are invited to join the Master of Hunt in the Aaunic countryside in search of White Stag. Representative of the nation’s ivory crown city and rumored to have roamed the forests surrounding the city for years prior to our settlement of the lands.

On this, the second month of the maturation season, the lords and ladies are invited to the Hand of Horen so that they may formally ascend to the high society among their peers. The lords and ladies will be presented by House alongside any direct relatives they have and the Patriarch and Matriarch of the House. 

Due to the overarching relaxed structure of the Aaunic Reifenia the guests are encouraged to talk amongst themselves whilst the banquet is in progress, whilst each familial unit enters and presents themselves before Her Majesty, the Queen and the Lady of Alba.

A Joust of Whitespire 3PM EST

Ladies bet items of varying values, as the men the items have been bet on are cut out of the tourney the items are pooled together. At the end the victor is given the most precious gift of the pooled bets and they are crowned the Lord and Lady of Reifenia. 

THE MONTH OF SUN’S SMILE | JULY 9

The Brawl of Minitz 4PM EST

In a tournament style, the men of the Reifenia are to be selected at random to fight against one another. The Reifenia is invited to the Minitz tavern’s fight pit. All Aaunic citizens are invited to the city to not only witness the brawl but if they wish to they may put themselves forward to participate.

The Waltz of St. Julia 4PM EST

To conclude the season a ball in traditional Johannian lavishness is to be held in the Hand of Horen. Hosted by Her Majesty, the Queen and Her Royal Highness, the Lady of Alba, the ball is simply themed in a masquerade style. Guests are encouraged to interpret the theme however they wish so long as they don a mask to conceal their identity.

Introductory Notes
Following the establishment of the Royal City of Whitespire, and the settlement of all the various cultures within one city, the Aaunic cultural identity has flourished. A distinct style has emerged from the gilded city, equipped with statement piece jewelry and intricate hair designs.  The dresses donned by ladies of Aaun are often free flowing, lacking much structure save the bodice that are oftentimes tailored and accompanied by a belt or some sort of intricate corsetry. The fashions of Whitespire are best known for their usage of gold, both in headpieces and throughout the vestments of the city’s people. 

Finally, the purpose of these pamphlets are not to dictate what the men and women of Whitespire wear, but rather to document occurring trends.

Trends of Whitespire
In contrast with the Adrian anathema, the most popular trend within Whitespire is light, or vibrant colors. There is no one color that takes the trophy for most-worn color, however, purple seems to be popular amongst the nobility and royals, whereas various shades of red seem to be popular amongst the commoners. Robes and loose silhouettes are also quite popular in Whitespire, especially amongst women, these robes are usually embroidered, and layered over a dress (see: The Lady of Alba’s Wedding Gown). Finally, as for accessories go- most women choose to go the simple route, with pearls or gold necklaces, and rosaries are equally popular amongst both sexes.

Adela-Olympe of High Peak: A Wedding Fashion Plate by Donna Vinny.

Adela of High Peak decided to go the regal route, with a lavish red coat made from velour over a fashionable white gown made from eastern silks. Ever-so modest, Adela of High Peak donned a plain veil as a way of honoring the Canonist doctrine. Finally, Adela’s head was topped with an opulent crown, adorned with sapphire and rubies. Adela of High Peak is sure to be a fashionable queen in her upcoming reign.
 

The Lord of Alba’s Wedding Attire

Henry, Lord of Alba: A Wedding Fashion Plate by Donna Vinny.

Henry, Aaunic Crown Prince, opted to wear a muted purple suit with equally fashionable light blue pants for his special day. In accordance with his Alstion lineage, he wore a deep, purple cape, embroidered with gold designs. In addition to this cape– he wore a purple sash. Uniquely, Henry opted not to wear a crown, instead sporting a simple golden circlet embellished with purple gemstones. Henry, while not as fashionable as his wife, will surely be an inspiration for male fashion in the years to come.

Mustaches and Facial Hair

In recent years, it’s become a trend amongst both the commoners and nobility of the male gender to don facial hair, with some notable examples being His Royal Majesty, James I, King of Aaun; His Royal Highness, Henry, Lord of Alba; and His Grace, Jan, Duke of Stran. Facial hair amongst men is often kept trimmed, combed, and maintained – adding a bit of scruff to the man, but not too much scruff. In particular, beards are extremely popular, however mustaches are coming into their hay day too.

Closing Notes
In closing, the Mistress of the Wardrobe would like to remind readers that the purpose of these pamphlets is not to dictate what people should wear, but rather to document the trends occurring in the capital and to encourage people to take part in them.

The rite of maturation of the Aaunic peoples.

INTRODUCTORY NOTES

For many years, on the various continents we, humanity, have inhabited, the act of maturation has been a milestone of great importance in the life of those royal and common alike. Traditionally styled as the ‘Social Season’ in heartlander culture, or the Haeseni ‘Lifstala’ and the Balianese ‘Symposia Pragma’, what’s to be known as the Aaunic Reifenia within the Aaunic realm shall replace its predecessors in the Heartlands as the nationwide rite of maturation. 

The Aaunic Reifenia is to be far shorter than those of the Heartland’s past; it shall only span over a few saint’s days, whereas those of imperial frivolity would span over an entire saint’s week. The festivities shall mostly remain within the capital, though vassals are encouraged to invite participants of the festival to their holdings throughout the realm for culturally specific events that showcase the various bustling cultures of Aaun. 

STRUCTURE & PURPOSE 

Purpose and  Proper Formalities

Purpose

The season is to reflect the decentralized style of government practiced throughout the Kingdom, and the values of familial ties are to remain at the forefront of the Reifenia and all of the accompanying events. The Reifenia itself shall be configured in a somewhat less formal style than its predecessors (The Orenian Astercalia), though the previously established etiquette of the Kingdom, and stylings of the various nobles shall be continuously in place. 

The rich culture that’s present within Aaun is encouraged to be showcased in, both, the dress of the debutantes and in private events hosted by the vassals. While the Reifenia is sure to inspire couplings across the participants, it is important to note that this is not a main focus of the season as a whole. The Aaunic Reifenia is meant to act as a season in which the youth of Aaun will begin their transition into adulthood, and to celebrate such a momentous milestone in any Aaunic person’s life. 

Proper Formalities 

It is important to keep in mind the proper etiquette put in place, and respected, throughout the realm while navigating the Aaunic Reifenia. Events of the Reifenia are to be regarded as a similar level of importance as Royal Court, and thus proper etiquette is to be followed in regards to regalia and vestments worn by Aaunic nobility. Due to the lack of publications regarding the proper etiquette of Royal Court, the stylings of each tier of nobility and royalty is laid out simply below;

Addressments of the Tiers of Nobility

Grand Prince/Princess - His/Her Serene Highness

Children of a Grand Prince are styled with the honorific His Highness alongside any subsidiary titles they hold.

Non-Royal Prince/Princess - His/Her Highness

Unlike the Grand Prince, children of a Non-Royal Prince are not styled with the honorific His/Her Highness, but instead are styled as His/Her Lord/Ladyship alongside any subsidiary titles they hold.

Duke/Duchess - His/Her Grace

Children of a Duke are styled as His/Her Lord/Ladyship alongside any subsidiary titles they hold. 

Margrave/Margravine - His/Her Lady/Lordship

In writing a Margrave is afforded the ability to sign documents using the honorific The Most Honorable. Children of a Margrave are styled as His/Her Lord/Ladyship alongside any subsidiary titles they hold. 

Count/Countess - His/Her Lord/Ladyship

In writing a Count may style himself as The Right Honorable. Children of a Count are styled as His/Her Lord/Ladyship. 

Viscount/Viscountess - His/Her Lord/Ladyship

In writing a Viscount has the right to style himself as The Right Honorable. The Viscount’s children are styled as His/Her Lord/Ladyship. 

Baron/Baroness - His/Her Lord/Ladyship

A Baron has only one honorific and signs documents with only His Lordship. The children of a Baron are styled as His/Her Lord/Ladyship. 

More detailed works regarding etiquette of the kingdom is to be published in the near future. 

THE REIFENIA

The Rite and its Structure 

The Reifenia is managed by the Mistresses of Reifenia, a tribunal composed of Her Majesty the Queen, the Lady of Alba, and a third royal member of the House of Alstion.

The rite itself is somewhat simple, lacking many formalities often seen in maturation ceremonies around the continent. The event is more akin to a banquet than presentations as noble houses are expected to arrive as familial assemblies composed of the Lord and Lady of the House, flanked by any children of the immediate or extended family (bearing the same last name) of the age of sixteen or greater. 

Upon the arrival of each house they are announced and present themselves before the Mistresses of Reifenia and join the others present at the banquet following their arrival. The congregation as a whole are welcomed to talk among themselves and intermingle at the start of the season. The inaugural event acts as both the opening ball and the presentations.

THE CLEMENTINE COURT

As it was upon its original formation, the Clementine Court, is a carefully cultivated center of the bustling cultures of the Kingdom of Aaun. The court is structured with a somewhat strict hierarchy headed by a council entitled the Council of Alba. Alongside the aid of the Lord Chamberlain, the courts are under the control of the Queen of Aaun and the Lady of Alba, the title from which the council’s name is derived. 

The Council of Alba

Similar to the High Council of Aaun, the Council of Alba are advisors to the Queen and Lady of Alba, tasked with management of their respective sects of the Royal Household. The Council is made up of a few key roles within the court, headed by the Lady Chamberlain. While most members of the council are charged with various pieces of the court’s management, some are invited to sit on the Council of Alba for their unique abilities despite not being tasked with a specific role, they are known as Councillors of Alba. 

Chamberlain | Julietta Laurelai Haverlock

Tasked with managing the courtiers in the interest of the Queen, the Chamberlain leads the court and serves as the senior most member of the Council of Alba. The Chamberlain aids the Queen and Lady of Alba in organizing events alongside the various courtiers.

Royal Councillors of Alba

Councilors of Alba are courtiers invited to sit on the council by the Queen or Lady of Alba for a wide array of reasons. Most often this role is awarded to consorts of vassals of Aaun, such as the Grand Princess of Minitz and Duchess of Stran.

Mistress of the Wardrobe | Amelia Lewes née Varoche 

An extension of the Ladies-in-Waiting tasked with management of the Royal Wardrobe, as the title states. The Mistress of the Wardrobe must have a keen eye for fashion and its ongoings as they will be charged with keeping up with the trends. Working alongside Lady Amelia, are her ladies of the wardrobe, tasked with aiding her endeavors of Aaunic couture.

Court Almoner | Father Mikhail

A priest appointed by the King, tasked with overseeing the prayers as the court travels  as well as any Canonistic proceedings abroad. The Almoner must be skilled in Canonistic matters, and have the ability to give advice to the court through the eye of God.   

Courtiers of the Palace

Under the purview of the Council of Alba are several subsidiary courtiers, each of whom have significantly more specialized tasks and roles within the royal court. 

Maids of Honour and Royal Valets

Young, unmarried Lords and Ladies tasked with aiding more senior members of court with everyday responsibilities in an attempt to not only educate the youth of Aaun in matters of state, etiquette, and life at court in addition to their traditional education. 

Ladies-in-Waiting

In most instances, upon birth, princesses will be paired with girls of similar age who will act as their Lady-in-Waiting when they’ve reached the proper age. Further, once a lady marries into the Royal Family she will not retain any title of Lady-in-Waiting and will be assigned at least one of her own. 

Master of the Hunt | Aleksander Jazloviecki 

A courtier tasked with management of the Royal hunts and private artillery. He must be skilled in the art of hunting as well as upkeep of the royal wood so that the Royal Family can hunt with ease whenever they wish to do so. 

Court Herald

A retainer of the Queen tasked with announcing courtly initiatives, festivities, and decrees to the common folk of Aaun. In addition to the initial announcement of such news from the Hand of Horen, the Court Herald shall upkeep a log of relevant courtly missives in the square of Whitespire. The Herald will also announce petitioners to HRM the King during royal court, and as such ought to be familiar with the landed nobility and its families.

Court Botanist | Eloise Veiel

A member of the courtly staff whose charge is the general upkeep of the lands surrounding the Royal City of Whitespire. They are to oversee the employment of greenskeepers to maintain the beauty of the royal gardens, as well as surveyors to locate and identify the various flora surrounding Whitespire, to be scribed and maintained in an environmental ledger. Additionally, the Court Botanist will be charged with the oversight of the annual Harvest at Whitespire and the coinciding festivities.

Court Jeweler | Felicite d'Abbassia

The court jeweler’s charge is to pen and maintain a registry of the various crown jewels in the possession of the Royal House of Alstion. Alongside her duty to uphold the pristine documents detailing the location and origins of each Alstion Crown Jewel, the court jeweler must create new jewels upon request for the ruling house. 

Court Historian | Allessandra de Vend

In part aiding the Royal Society of St. Godwin in their excursions of the Crownlands and the rich history of the ancient Aaunites and the bordering Frankish peoples, but also conducting research on the ruling House Alstion for various purposes. The court historian must be equipped with excellent skills of writing and publishing as they are expected to head many literature endeavors alongside the Council of Alba. 

The Lady Archivist | Princess Augusta Charlotte 

Working in tandem with the court historian, the lady (or on different occasions, lord) archivist is charged with upkeeping the more intimate ongoings of the royal household including births, special events, and changes in power. 

THE ROYAL COURT of Aaun

C.1927

His Royal Majesty, James Leopold of Alstion, calls the first royal court of Aaun into session on the 10th of Sun's Smile, 1927

His Royal Majesty begins with addressing the conflict surrounding the Duchy of Adria, and the deaths of Sir Bult Wick and Count Sigismund Varoche, declaring their eternal remembrance and bidding a prayer for their souls.

His Royal Majesty calls upon the names of the Count Sigismund and Sir Bult, dubbing them Knights-Immortal of Emperor Henry the Lion.

His Royal Majesty calls upon the Lord Heinrich Alstreim, Prince of Merryweather, to present himself before the court. Thanking him for his house’s unwavering loyalty, the Crown dubs him Custodian of the Immortal Order of Emperor Henry the Lion.

On the Matter of the Franks

His Royal Majesty calls upon His Grace, Sir Brandt Barclay, Duke of Minitz. His Grace addresses the court on the recent conflict with the Frankish tribe that resides on that of Minitz's Land, warning them of the recent banditting of his people.

His Royal Majesty dubs the Duke of Minitz Warden of the Franklands, allowing him to call upon brave volunteers to help pacify the pagan Franks. His Royal Highness, Prince Henry Charles is commanded to gather and arm the men under the Crown’s Aaunic Legion.

His Royal Majesty beckons the Duke to Kneel before the Crown and Her Saintly Protectors and dubs him Knight-Immortal of Emperor Henry the Lion.

Announcements

Her Royal Highness, Adeline Johanna speaks on the Royal event Schedule and The Royal Coronation is announced.

Finally the Office of the Seneschal reminds all present that properties within Whitespire are able to be leased under the Crown.

Petitions are to be taken at the court of the Coronation.

The Royal court of Ardor sees it fit to call all the subjects of the Aaunic crown to come and stand before their King and Queen in a courtly setting. All in attendance are welcome to bring forth their petitions and are invited to dine with their majesty’s after the court has ended.

During the Feast all are encouraged to bring traditional, new, homemade dishes and wines.
