A letter is sent to the governing body of the High Elves within Haelun'or.

“To the Az’Elgus of Haelun’or, the White City,

We, the sons of Urguan, address this letter to you as a matter of grave importance. We tire of waiting and putting great effort into a cause that has become vastly more problematic as time has passed. In the early years, it was said that Yemekar himself, the divine creator, gifted unto the hands of the Dwedmar, the knowledge of the great anvils. For years we have guarded these relics and utilized them for the greater good of the realm, never once straying from our goal of preserving a world in which all mortal races may live, with peace in mind if they so wish.

Yet, there are those few who have wronged us as time has passed. The Orkos, the Umros and now so too that of your own kin. Through assaulting a Lord of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and stealing an artifact of most sacred importance to the Kirka Dverja, we would usually consider such a betrayal an act of war. Your kind have sought peace in the past however and for that, we are for the next seven elven days, allowing channels for diplomacy to resume.

Our demands are simple. Return the artifact to the hands of its rightful and true owners or by the next week, prepare to see the white city burn and the decapitated heads of your people sit high above the battlements of Kal’Ithrun. If you dishonour our requests and prove your kind so consumed with greed that you would be damned to Khorvad’s unholy halls, you will find no mercy at our hands. Our campaign will never cease for you will rue the day that you ever chose to cross us. Your lands will be surrounded, your forests burned within the great dwarven war machine, as you will wish and pray every second of what existence you have left, that you had only seen wisdom earlier.

The blood of your people will run deep into the grounds of the great world that Yemekar bestowed upon us. For those Dwedmar who fall, Dungrimm will guide them to the halls of Khaz’a’Dentrumm. Yet for every dwarf lost, they will slay over a dozen Az’Elger, whose souls will be cast into the endless void, to wander for all eternity. Your line will end, what footprints you left upon the world erased from knowledge. Your lands will be left desolate and ruined, sacked of all prior greatness. Yet our divine retribution shall be spoken of in tales and song, until the end of time.

You have seven elven days to comply. Do as we say, and you will have preserved peace. Relations over time will be healed and slowly, we will begin to reestablish historical bridges of diplomacy. If however, we have not received the artifact by the seventh day, we will accept no compromise, making invasion inevitable. Your days left alive will be numbered. Know that this is the last and final warning you shall receive.”

May Ogradhad enlighten you to make the wise decision.

((If this is to end in a warclaim, please could one of the leaders of the High Elves send me a forum PM and we’ll discuss terms, etc. Also, please could both sides leave OOC bickering out of this conflict entirely. Credits to Zezimus for helping me write this.))

((Ultimatum already means final))

((Yes, although we've given Ultimatums in the past. They were not acted upon.  This is the final one we will be doing.))

((Ultimatum already means final))

((It has two definitions, one meaning explicitly final, the other just meaning a diplomatic statement. So a "Final 'diplomatic statement'" is fine.

Anyways, I really enjoyed reading this. One of the best written things I've read in quite a time.))

A letter is sent in return, to the governing body of the Kingdom of Urguan.

"Leaders of the Kingdom of Urguan.

The state of Haelun’or does not, nor ever has held possession of your sacred Golemancy Anvil. It is hidden from both nations alike, by an independent individual that happens to be Mali’aheral. This has been made clear to your leaders on many occasions, yet in your desire for war you continue to ignore this fact. You threaten our people with death, demanding we hand over a relic we do not possess. Numerous times we allowed your kind to peacefully enter our walls and search for your Anvil, yet it was not found. Countless more times your soldiers forced your way in, butchering our people in search of it and yet still finding nothing.

It became obvious long ago that no Anvils of magical nature are within Lin’evaral’s walls, yet you continue using this as an excuse for bloodshed. Many of our citizens do not even know the identity of the High Elven Golemancer, so do not speak of fixing relations when you continue to spill blood for no purpose. It should have become clear long ago that razing Lin’everal and killing its citizens will get you no closer to finding your relic than any of your other attempts have.

Your bloodthirsty incursions into our land try our patience, and your continued threats of death and destruction leave us no option but to support this Golemancer. If you would kill countless people to steal an item they do not even possess, perhaps you do not deserve your relic at all. A meeting has been held with the independent Golemancer, and it has been agreed upon that you leave us no choice but to propose the following ultimatum of our own.

We, the Mali'aheral, were on the verge of restoring the former good relationship between the Silver Enclave of Haelun'or and the Kingdom of Urguan. Following the proceedings with the Scriberfolk, a blood oath of peace and mutual trust was sworn between the Mali'aheral, the entire cabinet of the Kingdom of Urguan and former Grand King Thorin Grandaxe. Upon Thorin Grandaxe retiring from power, it seems as if this peace immediately became null, before any distrust between the Mali'aheral and bortu was fostered. Thus, the Enclave of Haelun'or proposes the alliance that was being drafted when Grand King Thorin Grandaxe left power:

1) The Mali'aheral will take in and teach a number of the bortu Golemancy, as was planned beforehand.

2) Should the mali’aheral desire mundane materials, such as iron, wood, stone, or even gold, the Grand Kingdom will be the city's primary supplier through fair trade.

3) Subjects of the Grand Kingdom who come to our city for the purpose of perusing the Eternal library may do so, as long as they’re properly supervised, and follow set rules and laws. This is an extraordinary privilege.

In return for these, any bad blood between the Mali'aheral and bortuan will immediately cease.

If you refuse this proposed truce or break it after acceptance, the following will transgress. You have held us accountable for the actions of independent Mali’aheral, so note that this truce applies to independent bortu as well as the Kingdom of Urguan. This we regret, but through your actions you have forced our hand.

1) The Golemancer will distribute golemantic knowledge to the entirety of Anthos. One hundred and twenty eight tomes exactly will be sold to any interested party. They will contain details on both the magical and smithing aspects of golemancy and Golemancy as a whole will become the most well-known and widespread form of quasi-arcanic magic in our world.

2) The Golemancer will distribute runesmithing knowledge to every interested party in the same fashion as the distribution of golemancy. The Mali'aheral Golemancer still has the original tome garnered from the Scriberfolk, containing every single aspect of their runic knowledge. The bortuan maintain their monopoly of runic magic due to their supposed inability to naturally connect to the void. This monopoly will no longer take place, through methods that will be seen by all if this truce is denied.

3) The Golemancer will auction no less than fifteen golems to interested parties across the face of Anthos.

4) The Golemancer will split the Thahnic anvil into multiple pieces, auctioning each piece off to the highest bidder. Following studies, we have come to the conclusion that the enchantment will remain intact in each piece, albeit weakened. This enchantment is still enough for the creation of golems.

In the process of making a fortune in the useless metal that other races utilize in transactions, the Golemancer will purchase soldiers as well as create an army to fight alongside us during this ill-begotten war. We will prosper in your misery whether you do or do not take the city we labored to build. None of the items nor information spoken of is housed within Lin’evaral’s walls, so do not presume further violence will be capable of preventing these responses from occurring.

We expect your prompt response."

Ellsia wonders how SILLIR'ILUME knows runesmithing, for only Farren and Dormin know that. She also doubts you can even self-teach runesmithing or golemancy, due to the nature of those, knows golems can be killed, and that anvil pieces too expensive for the dwarven kingdom to boy couldn't really be bought by many other parties who wouldn't most likely give it back.

Meanwhile Bowman reads it, and notices that it basically states that the high elven golemancer owns the anvil.

((Silir'ume was initially taught golemsmithing by Salamandra (who learned in Aegis), as was Farren. If Silir'ume's source of knowledge is invalid, then so is Farren's. Seeing as all surviving dwarven golemancers were taught by Farren...))

A letter is sent in reply

“Az’Elgus of Haelun’or,

It is clear that your quest for greater knowledge and power has dimmed sound judgement. There is no negotiation with those who would seek to deceive and stray us away from the path of righteousness. Our demand was simple. Return to us the artifact that rightfully belonged to our halls and so allow peace to ensue. Instead, offered in return, were threats of surrendering the balance of the world and putting the art of golemancy into the hands of evil.

Your offer of knowledge was miniscule in comparison to the powers of the ancient dwarven arts. Yet you sought to lay sin upon the world and create an army of golems if we did not adhere to your heinous demands. Golemancy belonged to those who once preserved it. Instead, we were forced to destroy the anvils that bound the powers of the craft to a few.

Your power now lies merely within knowledge. Petty threats are not enough to save your kin from the wrath of the gods. If you are so wise as you appear to think yourselves, why does it please you so to take what is not yours by right? Under our order, the golems were utilized as a force of good. For years we, the children of Urguan, sought only balance amongst Yemekar’s creations. Yet when this knowledge fell into your hands, you did not commit the rightful act, in returning it to us. Instead, your kind, filled with avarice in their hearts, took the opportunity to seize such power for themselves.

As such, our demands have changed. Your claim is that you, the Silver Enclave of Haelun’or, do not possess the art of golemancy. Instead, it is within the hands of these individuals who you are now affiliated with. If this is indeed the case, we would ask that these individuals be named specifically for the purpose of limiting the spread of golemancy. In addition, the original copies of the books of Ancient Dwarven knowledge must be returned intact to the libraries of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. Lest this is to be carried out swiftly, our intentions remain the same.

If you know to tread carefully, we may yet reach a settlement that will restore peace between our troubled kin. That now is for your council alone to decide.”

((You should know more than anyone Dreek that we're not doing this out of animosity. This isn't to ruin anyone's role play or because we don't like anyone who belongs to the High Elven nation. This is simply a result of the fact that we're trying to repossess the art of golemancy - a. Because we'd prefer if golemancy was kept as something unique to dwarven role play, to provide something different about our culture and b. The dwarven religion demands that golem anvils and all sacred artifacts are kept within the hands of the dwarven nation. The fact that you've chosen to criticise us in a public thread is frankly a little rude.))

Another letter is sent to the governing body of the High Elves within Haelun'or.

“To the Az’Elgus of Haelun’or,

I am writing to inform you that from this date onwards, I, Morgrim Grandaxe, son of Valen, High Prophet of the Kirkja Dverga, will be taking over negotiations with the Silver Enclave, on behalf of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. I would therefore wish to detail that our current terms upon the matter of a lasting peace stand and are understood to be as such."

  • All original copies of the texts from Khaz’Ardol are to be returned intact to the Grand Kingdom of Urguan’s libraries.

  • The names of those individuals who bear knowledge or have practised golemancy in the past are to be listed and delivered to the Grand King and his Lord’s Council as a means of limiting the spread of golemancy in the future. In return, the Grand Kingdom of Urguan’s promise is that no harm will come to those individuals, providing they are willing to attend negotiations so that some form of an agreement may be reached upon where the future of golemancy now lies.

  • In future, any original copies of knowledge or artifacts possessed or acquired by the Silver Enclave or the city of Haelun’or, pertaining to dwarven history or dwarven knowledge, are to be delivered back to the Grand Kingdom of Urguan without delay.

  • In future, no copies of the tomes upon ancient dwarven knowledge, includings the arts of golemancy and runesmithing, will be sold to any other party or individual without the full consent of the Grand King and his Lord’s Council.

  • In return for the acceptance of these terms, all hostilities between the High Elves of Haelun’or and the Dwarves of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan will cease immediately. Any Dwarf or High Elf who breaks this truce will be stripped of all rank and title and be judged by a court consisting of representatives of both the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and the Silver Enclave of Haelun'or.

"If these terms are considered unsatisfactory in any way, you may make any amendments or alterations to what is currently proposed. When the final treaty has been drafted and agreed upon, it is to be signed by the heads of state of both the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and the Silver Enclave of Haelun’or. If the terms are at any time found to have been broken, this treaty will be nullified and further hostilities may well ensue.

By Yemekar’s grace, may these terms bring us ever closer towards a lasting and peaceful resolution to this conflict. Only then may we avert the course of war. You have until the end of the elven week to consider your response.

- High Prophet Morgrim Grandaxe, son of Valen.”
