On the mages issue:

Mages get to wear armour at any time they want for a PVP fight. However, they should provide a "well written and rp'ed magic combat emote which shows their ability to use magic in a fight". In other words, if a Mage provides a good rp emote which allows them to fight with their magic, they are be allowed to auto-armour.

In the general issue:

In a PVP fight, your skin or your name does not determine whether you are wearing armour or not. It would be the physical armour that would determine whether you are. In an RP fight, you cannot just say you are wearing armour without having it on MCly. Therefore, this should continue over to PVP and general RP as well. If you emote having armour on beforehand, your skin shows armour, or your name says you are armoured, you must emote before putting on physical armour. I will quote a recommendation which I find suitable here: "Think about what you are doing. (Aka, having armour on in your skin so that you can auto-armour) Take away that, and test the rules again to see if you are breaking any. (Auto-armouring while not having a skin with armour)"

Conclusion: Mages can auto armour when showing proper magic combat emotes, but anyone else must physically have the armour on beforehand, and cannot auto-armour.

Edit: Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to go in depth of this issue.

Honestly, I never understood why you dont just wear the armor. Are people that picky to deserve a place on a TLC show "What you wear?", armor benefits trumps the silly aesthetics. Either walk around with armor on or take your risks, acknowledge which locations that you go to might beg for better defense, pick to wear it or not. Do not auto-armor under any circumstance.

Mechanical Standard tho?

You guys are not GMs, you can not say "it is in the rules that i can auto armour" because more than 1 GM has told me that AutoArmour isn't allowed in any case, whether it be on your skin or your a mage, you cannot auto armor. Mages use swords to represent their magic, as magic is no more powerful than a sword, so auto-armouring makes no sense. If a mage wants to have armour to represent their magic, have armour on before the RP fight.

Also, RP Items =/= MC items.

Are you serious?

Maybe you should have learned by now that GMs will give you different responses. It's been this way for almost 2 years. Or maybe you should avoid GM shopping.

Lol you are severely misinformed on the rules and the way GMs work.

Every GM has their own personal decisions on the rules, it causes a lot of drama but it's just the way things work and I don't see a conclusion coming in to solve this any time soon.   It depends what GM you talk too that will determine what you are currently attempting is allowed or not.

You are wrong Both sword and armour are used to represent magic

Except that it is in the rules...

  • Given the somewhat ambiguous nature of magical strength and abilities, magic users must now follow the PVP default rule. Eventually, a magic plugin should fill this void, but until then, one must rely on standard MC mechanics to PVP fight. Deviating from PVP default exclusively for magic users once more creates an ulterior motive for learning magic, and also causes some of the problems which PVP default has evidently solved otherwise. This however does not stop you from roleplaying your mc weapons as magic. For instance, say you were using a bow as a bow. You do not have to literally rp it as a bow. You can rp it as a form of evocation. And remember this is only temporary until the magic plugin is released. Since magic, melee and ranged combat are of equal strengths, mages just need to get their hands on a sword and some armour until we get a magic plugin.

I am not going to walk around wearing armor all the time, because my character doesn't even own armor in RP. If I get into a fight for whatever reason, her druid magic makes her fully capable of defending herself. While I would prefer an RP fight, if I need to PvP I intend to use armor and a sword to represent my character's abilities, which is perfectly fair. This would inevitably result in 'auto-armoring' because she's not actually wearing armor in RP. The minecraft armor is just there as a stand-in for magic.

PvP is supposed to make everything fair and chill, right? So what's the big deal if someone wants to put the minecraft armor on for a PvP fight, but leave it off otherwise? It's not like it's actually fun for anyone to just slaughter an unarmored opponent.

Yes so true so many people are demanding we do things MCly but when some people do (like us mages) Some cry and make a fuss of it as they have to fight us fair now even if its PVP

I agree with allowing everyone to auto-armor if they hold the items in their inventory. After all, these items are there IC'ly by the official rules.

Look at that Sorted.

If you want to fight mages, either do it in RP or let them use MC mechanics the same as anyone else. Similarly, if people have armor in their inventory, represented on their skin, and RP their character as wearing armor, then let them feel pretty while not PvPing and just put the MC armor on for a fight. It's not hurting anyone.

Why do I care what he thinks? I'm repeating what two, TWO, GMs told me.

This is what Ever told me on Mages

Aswell Xirkys told me that Mc Items =/= RP Items and that RPing armour doesn't mean you have it on MCly.
