What if, when there was a disagreement as to RP or PVP, a roll would ensue? The highest roller winds, and his method is chosen. NO PvP_default to ***** about and no-RP default to ***** about...Feedback?

No, no pvp zones is just another place people meta their way out of losing a pvp fight. It surely changes the pvp default rules if someone can refuse pvp for being somewhere. You want peaceful rp? I say become a monk

Heh, I've been PvPd as a monk three times :P

The idea in Tristanm's post wasn't a town with no PVP at all. Just no raids.

This mean's it'd have no nation allegiances and participate in no wars or international politics. Cloud temple City basically, except only raids and wars are restricted as opposed to all villainy.

PVP is great, great way to solve a conflict RP dispute in less than 30 seconds. Frequent raids however are just really goddamn annoying. whether we win (which we do often) or we lose.

I hope I speak true for all of us Hardcore Roleplayers..

1. No, nothing is going  change our minds. We don't like PVP. Chances are we never will.

2. We really just want to be left alone in our peace to Roleplay - in our minds, we signed up for an RP server, not PVP. (Extreme view.)

3. If this happens, it would make a huge chunk of the playerbase extremely happy, to the dis-advantage of none.

Eh, you don't speak for anyone, honestly.

I honestly do feel like I signed up for an RP server. Not a hardcore one, but a RP server. I totally get that part though. I just don't like how a single person can effectively end all RP and become the center of attention by simply typing ((PVP default))

It is just annoying when EVERYONE is RPing and you become super duper speeeshul.

I don't think the city idea is a good one though.

I do notice that people that seem to only RP will gang up on a pvp-defaulter >.>

See, I just see things entirely differently about PVP. To me, conflict is the heart and soul of any good RP (and any story/plot ever made honestly) so when PVP solves it quickly, then I felt like the entire fun of the RP was stolen away.

I just fail to see - why not? If you build it, they will come. If enough people want it, just bloody give it to them! I don't want to have to walk around with food, a set of Iron armour and a sword and that's it because if I carry anything of RP signifigance, it'll get taken and thrown away. No one hires mercenaries, because there are no Mercenaries.

I don't want to have to change and leave my character behind for peace, and I don't want to move into a place I can't even go to (Oren) to try and get it. I don't want to have to live in a impassable fortress of gates and walls. I want to have a nice place where you don't need walls or watchmen.

All I want, and the others, is a place where we can RP without interruption and worry.

Do something in RP to fix the raiding, it's not ******* rocket science.

Don't you realize how lazy that is? It can't simply be fixed in RP.

My character's an Adunian. He tried to get Orcs to stop raiding, they killed him on sight without a word. Back in Kalos, he tried to speak with the WR about not killing the Adunians anymore, he was killed before he said 'Hello'. I wrote letter threads, which got trolled to pieces. 'lol no', that sort of thing.Allies? What allies, for someone who ran a community once as an Adunian, no one wished to deal with us - we were entirely vulnerable, no one could come to help us, and we couldn't aptly defend ourselves. We took a huge hit to our playerbase. It's not that simple, buddy.

Sometime's it's impossible, because the Raiders don't want to stop.

There are places you can go to RP peacefully. Just, no hubs you can RP peacefully in my opinion. Lack of perma death is my personal reason this is. Violence is less common when permadeath exists. I know that will never ever happening, but I enjoy talking about it. The suspense is just /amazing/.

I just can't understand why people can't just be KILLED for attempting raids, ya know? As far as raids go, I feel that the defender can only not-lose. But, enough of me tooting that particular horn.

*waits for the people to come in and accuse everyone of making OOC drama because we all have our own feelings and we're talking about them*

So make it so those who prefer PVP and those who prefer RP do not interact frequently, foster a greater divide between the two groups, and have the two extreme "factions" grow even more frustrated with their infrequent interactions? Or alternatively, they don't interact, and then we just have two groups that don't like each other not interacting in RP?

Regardless, this isn't the solution. I may be presenting the negatives in a more black-and-white, extreme manner than it will present itself, but it's still a compelling reason to see that this never happens.

Doesn't an RP-centric settlement getting repeatedly PvPed to the point that the RPers complain OOCly do more to widen the divide then letting the side that feels it's getting harassed get a place that's free of said harassment?

Try and pay tribute, counter raid them, wipe them off the map. Do something, stop crying OOCly when someone's raiding you too much.

This sort of thing is the very problem. We have a problem with this, for some reason, the GM's are blind to our woes. There's nothing wrong with fixing it at all. In fact, a PVP flag might improve relations with raiders, because then the raiders will have to RP for a change instead of defaulting to PVP all the time. There's an extreme at play in Anthos - no RP combat.

You've made RPers try to PVP fight.

Just in one, teeny small place in the entire map, maybe let RPers make PVPers RP fight.

WOW RP servers offer the ability to flag for PVP.

Why not LOTC?

+1. Just got out of my cave to post on this. Please.

You shrugged over my point completely, so I'll just repost it.

-No place will accept us

-No one will ally with us

-We don't have the numbers or skills to defend

-Tried to pay them off, was killed before saying 'Hello'

-Tried to convince them via forums, got trolled into oblivion.

-Don't have enough resources to pay tributes

-Don't have enough players to counter-raid

Okay, see the problem? If that was your scenario, how would you deal with it IN ROLEPLAY.

I hate to lay it out like it is, but..

Someone like me will never, ever ever ever get along well and RP well with someone like a Flay, it just doesn't work. Hardcore RPers are bitter because their RP is disrupted, PVPers are bitter because they don't have any easy victims. Getting raided and PVP'd frequently is not the answer to mending the rift between RPers and PVPers.

That's your own problem them, Han. I greatly prefer RP default and Dislike PVP to some extent, but the flay will actually roleplay with you. Your problem is you make everyone who PVP's their combat out to be some sort of game-breaking A-hole who stands for everything bad in the world. Maybe if you stopped complaining about why PVP is bad and realized how it is a necessary evil then maybe you would understand their point of view. They are people too and the way to work out how to fix this 'rift' is not simply complaining about their method but understanding it and attempting actual communication over whining and feedback threads. Have you ever simply stopped during a raid and said in IC or OOC: "Hey don't kill me I'll give you my stuff considering you outnumber us 9 to 1"

Edit: And if you're having problems roleplaying it's because you've ruined yoru chances OOCly by being unreasonable and smack-talking them ooc as much as you do, and as much as I've heard you do. Who the heck wants to roleplay with someone who has done nothing but speak ill of them and ignore their side of the story?

I've never stated that I 'hate' PVPers, just that I don't enjoy PVP.

"if you stopped complaining about why PVP is bad and realized how it is a necessary evil then maybe you would understand their point of view.'

I know it's needed. Just not 24/7, like it seemingly is for certain groups.

"Have you ever simply stopped during a raid and said in IC or OOC: "Hey don't kill me I'll give you my stuff considering you outnumber us 9 to 1"

Of course I have. Just when that happens every single day for a month, I get tired of it happening, and extremely bitter at the people.

Now, about that entire thing. I get them. From what I've heard, alot of them are younger folks, they're more adjusted to PVP. PVP gives higher retention rates on the server. PVP speeds up fights. PVP is good.

I just don't like it. And there are alot of others who just don't like it as well. So..

'Let's take all the PVP haters and shove them -here-'
