I have and do. Additionally, I would argue that being a resource does count. I've affected people's lives in real, profound ways. For a population with a 42% attempted suicide rate ( General population rate is more like 1% ), having someone there to tell them they aren't alone and to help them in their times of need can be an incredible help. Far more then going and giving a talk somewhere. (I have done the panel QA thing before. )

 

 

 

Funny thing. The bathroom stalls are the same. No special hardware. If you pass 99% of the time, then that person who picks up that you're trans that 1% of the time can become a huge problem. Kids peeking under stalls as well. Look up some transgender bathroom incidents. They are all examples of trans people going to go to the bathroom, and getting identified as trans. Usually resulting in threats and violence.

 

Gender Dysphoria is not lessoned by psychological treatment. Body Dysmorphic Disorder is. Additionally, I doubt the guy who feels like a dog has a brain structure consistent with a dog. If he did that would be a huuuge scientific discovery. The only effective treatment for Gender Dysphoria is transition, which is a bit of a mix and match thing.

Additionally, if you take someone who is not trans and force them to live and be recognized as the opposite sex, those people experience gender dysphoria. It's actually very common when doctors decide to choose which gender an intersex infant is to choose wrong. Once again, we come back to the fact that brain structure is sexually dimorphic and that trans people have brain structures consistent with their identified sex, as I cited with peer reviewed evidence in my previous post.

Well then, if the brain structure is the same as a women's(or male's for female-to-male trans), then there are genetic ties which means that Freya's argument about ADHD being a disorder and trans not being one has gone out the window.

MJ had vitiligo, that's different son! Plus he was a multi-millionaire and pop icon prior the operations so frankly he could have done whatever he wanted. I'm not saying these operations shouldn't exist, I'm just saying this isn't a perfect world where everyone is going to be comfortable dealing with people who swap innate features about themselves.

 

Part of life is dealing your hand. Overcoming what we deem faulty about ourselves is how people build character, not by paying off a doctor to fix them for you. Short people aren't militant about getting expensive surgeries to lengthen their bone structure, colored/white people aren't militant about getting expensive surgeries to change their facial structure and pigment of skin, and thus I don't feel men or women should be so militant about getting expensive surgeries to change their gender and expecting everyone to not judge them or feel uncomfortable around them. There's always going to be some underlying judgement when dealing with someone who chose to artificially change what they were born or grew up to become.

Why are you afraid of being assaulted? Just open the door of whichever restroom your private parts are meant for and walk into a cubicle. You don't have to make a song and a dance about it.

This isn't a "what bathroom to go to?" debate. 

 

It's funny to me that the word "Transsexuality" ends with "ality" just like reality. And personality. Nationality. Heterosexuality and Homosexuality. Just a part of who you are. 

 

There was a comment that said earlier that people who are attracted to the same sex obviously have issues. So do people attracted to the opposite sex. Or not even attracted to a gender. Everyone has issues.

I have gotten no surgery. Period. Just hormones. As I have stated before, hormones are powerful things and the primary drivers of sexual differentiation. I pass.

And I do, and have managed to not have a problem, but there are significant numbers of assaults and harassment every year for this very thing.

Marriage is religious so it should remain up to whatever religion you are a part of luckily there's something called a civil partnership, same thing just a legal thing rather than religious.

 

Historically, marriage didn't become a religious thing until about 1000 years ago with some Reformations to the Catholic Church (at least for Christians/Europeans, but I believe historically marriage has typically been a non-religious affair). The idea that marriage is exclusively a religious construct is silly and one that isn't really correct.
