The 4.0 Peace

So hey! How about that war? Pretty nifty! You know what I love about war? When neither side is willing to concede over anything, or allow a warclaim to pass! That sounds pretty crazy right? No? Would you agree if I wrote another rhetorical question?

So I've been thinking, as I am known to do. Neither side of this conflict is willing to bend on the whole 'war' thing, and with this newest addition of the droods, I think we can safely say we've exhausted every level this war can take. So while peace is not possible due to reasons, lets do a little thing and stop fighting for a bit when 4.0 hits. You don't need to have a treaty, or stop hating each-other or anything, we just ease up for a bit. Take this hypothetical situation:

So, when we leave the fringe, I theorise we'll all go through the same way again (I know I should know as a loremaster, but I haven't been keeping up with the stuff surrounding the departure).

When this occurs, everyone'll be rubbing shoulders--friends with enemies, enemies against their myriad of other enemies, and everyone will stack into their own little squares of the boats/carts/whatever and the main thing that will be going through their heads is "gosh, this is really awkward, isn't it?" So for the days and weeks they travel, they all sort of chat amongst themselves, eat together, presumably bathe together, and amble throughout the whole ordeal, all that can pierce their thoughts is "Holy butts, this is absurdly awkward." After they land and they say their gruff goodbyes and rub the back of their heads, they meet up with the other members of their nations, cities, etc etc and they all say to one-another "Did you feel as awkward as I did? I felt pretty bloody awkward." They all then go their separate ways and build their walls and cities and armies, but everyone is too embarrassed to go and raid or attack people. "I owe that Dwarven feller 120 minas for beating me in poker! I can't show my face there!" "I can't go and burn the dark elves today! I touched bums with one in the showers! We have a special connection!"

tl'dr, just stop warring for a while after 4.0 hits due to reasons.

We can do that, right? C'mon!

(Also, this thread is not about babbling over who did what IC/OOC. )

This should really be in the "Ideas" section to be honest. If an FM could move it, that'd be delightful!

We can't force OOC solutions to IC problems.

Say, if the resources were spread out or some ****, causing a need for co-operation (that example probably wouldn't work, but something like that), or something like the plague, was implemented, sure. But we've seen how OOC **** gets dealt with.

i thought that's what we did for a lot of maps. get like 5 months to do our stuff before we get to warring

Illatians would have, if they follow the lore correctly. Have a general dislike against Dwarves due to their patriarch/founding father/idol being brutally slain by them, and in their belief, making our idol not able to fulfill the task he was born to accomplish for his people. If a war against the Dwarves would happen, the correct RP would be that our banners are in the vanguard with chants of hatred and intolerance. This is lore, a dynamic RP event that made a scar between Illatian-Dwarven relations.

With this feedback, which I find radical, are you saying the Illatians should suddenly lose their casus belli and grudge against the Dwarves? If so, it would make a large part of our lore 'null.'

Love will find a way.

But seriously, the war is of no consequence anymore IC. The only reason it persists is because IC and OOC are so intermingling at this point. You can never properly storm a city and claim it because the characters will come back to life magically and return to their homes.

There are many excuses that can be thought up as to why the war could stop in 4.0. And frankly, it will be much better if it all does. because everyone is distracted with building their kingdoms so that they can stop living in tents.

(did I just spoiler?)

Yeah, previous examples, both in LoTC and elsewhere have shown that OOCly enforced peace is either ignored or is very destructive to activity.

Bums

I do agree, however. But, agreeing doesn't change anything, action does. So, here's to hope.

Let's not be inventing data now

Happens pretty much every map, people are normally too busy to fight. I find this war pretty boring at this stage since one or two groups won't accept warclaims. Just the same thing over and over everyday.

Also moved to the correct forum.

Honestly this probably doesn't even need to be stated. It is what has happened the past two times anyway without any such declaration.

Hey, Oren wanted an armistice.  I sure as hell pushed for it.  We gave it our all to prevent war from happening on the very boring landscape that is the Fringe, but we failed, and the Dwarves wanted to "show us who was boss", just like Napoleonic France.  When an armistice was finally achieved, well, the dwarves broke it within about 2 days, to no one's surprise, really.

Mithridates, if you want to push this (as I believe you should), you'll have much better luck speaking with the Dwarven leaders via skype or a forum PM.  Every suggested competent measure for the server in this subforum tends to be protested with impunity.

This shouldn't be an issue since the Bloc nations are essentially run on OOC from root to stem.

But I'm not here to discuss that.  The war is cancerous, I agree, and Oren wants an armistice; we've done our part for it.  I've given a shot reaching out to the Dwarven leaders and all I received in response was a blurred "w-we're better!".  C'mon guys.
