My summer will be done by the time the server's out, that's a disappointment. Y'all made it sound like the first week of July was the release date. :-\

Whatever, RP is stagnant. Players need something to do, please give us something.

One of the more important, unfinished things at this moment for 4.0 is making videos for the new plugins, these new plugins require some getting used to and the last thing we want to do is have you guys figuring them out during the whirlwind of the first few days/weeks.

We've gotta wait for Telanir to get back from Panama so we can make quick videos on how to use them and make sure they're finalized.

 

Probably our biggest goal is just to make sure it all goes smoothly.

I'm usually not one to question your judgement Shift, but we're going to have plugins that are hard to understand? I thought they were meant to simplify things, not make them worse.

Make a wood elf yo, we still have some people who haven't given up on the fringe even if ETs are world editing all our trees and grass away for some reason.

 

And tech team, just release the map. That'll help so much. I don't buy that all these plugins and videos and other whatever your making needs to come out in sync with the map for it to be a success. Just getting out of this cramped, ugly land scarred temp world would be good, thanks.

 

Also, release the map while the bulk of us still have a good bit of summer vacation to enjoy it, eh?

I'm usually not one to question your judgement Shift, but we're going to have plugins that are hard to understand? I thought they were meant to simplify things, not make them worse.

 

Good point. Also, I recall Telanir already making a tutorial video in January showcasing the Nexus crafting plugin? He also made one showcasing the magic plugin in February.

 

Why not release the map now and use those videos showing how to use the plugins, and in the mean time whilst we are RP'ing ya'll could finish the new videos? =)

Yeah personally I'd rather have everything fantastic and uh, I don't know DONE when 4.0 comes out. I think we can all stop whining out our blowholes and be patient. Seriously if you guys are "so tired of waiting" then don't wait :/

 

I'm tired of hearing complaining but you don't see me running around making POST after POST after POST about how boring the Fringe is or how tired I am of people bitching. Seriously if ANYONE should live up to what they say, it's the people saying that they'll leave if it doesn't come out soon [insert trademark here]. If you're going to say stuff that that, don't say. Do. Please. The last thing we need before a new realm release is a sour community because they can't just wait a while. Sure it's taking a long time but y'know there are only so much staff with so much time. 

 

Seriously guys I mean holy crap if you're so tired of it DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I'm not holding my breath about the release. Am I excited? Hell yeah, but if it doesn't come out in the next month? What. Ever. It's a server, it's not that big of a deal. If you're having RP troubles in the Fringe BY ALL MEANS message random people, ask for RP outside of your norm. It really is not that hard to find RP across the Fringe. I log on quite frequently and I never have a dull session of RP. Not every person that logs on to the Fringe is an "item hungry PVP'er" and most are actually trying to keep things fun until the next realm.

It is what it is. The Fringe is not very enjoyable, this is true. Nevertheless, complaining will do nothing but waste the time of those trying to finish 4.0. I, personally, would like a fully developed and well-thought out release, rather than something mediocre that will be fun for a month or two.

From a purely business perspective...

 

In the future, it would make more sense to time major new things at the beginning of Winter Break and Summer Break as most of the players are students / children.

 

As well, it would make more sense for someone who has been active to purge inactive staff.  Teenagers can sense hypocrisy from a mile away and will not respect you for it.  I mean this not as an insult, but as a simple statement of fact.  Take it from someone who would know (given my background - you'll have to trust me on that - I'm not going to post my qualifications on an rp website).

Nay, I said "take time to get used to" they have interfaces or features to them that are not vanilla - when explained well, they will be easy to wrap your head around and use.

 

As for his previous videos, those were more development oriented and far too lengthy to be used as a kind of "guide".

 

Once he gets back, we'll make these videos in an afternoon and they'll only be a few minutes long - then we'll be just about ready to go.
