Step 2: A Nexus Region Compromise

Greetings LotC community,

As many of you have noticed, a lot of discussion has been going on in the feedback section of the forums regarding Nexus-Regions and the possible removal of the plugin. While a large majority of the community would like to see the plugin removed, I felt it was necessary to at least give the Technical Team the chance to complete the plugin and refine it to what it was meant to be. Unfortunately, the vision was with Shiftnative and our technicians merely coded the plugin for him, so we are making do with what we have.

Originally, I was ready to remove the plugin and have our coders focus their time on more important things (for example, the magic plugin), but from what we discussed it would take a short amount of time to make some drastically positive changes to the plugin. I decided that it was in our best interest to at least give these changes a go; we will be monitoring how the following changes affect the Nexus-Region plugin's functionality and intuitiveness within the next two weeks. If the patch is well received, we may consider further refining it (or doing so as the two week period progresses based on community feedback), but also focusing our efforts on other plugins that have been in development for quite some time. If it is not well received, we will opt for our older system which involved WorldGuard and having GMs manually handle regions. Here's the patch!

Region Patch 1.whocaresaboutversionnumbers.1 Standby.

Notable Changes:

  • Town Pillar can be moved even after placement, and is allowed to be put anywhere within the region boundaries
  • Activity set to the lowest possible setting: Being Active simply means logging in to your Persona during an activity period
  • Relabeled "Passport" as "Build Privilege" and "Citizenship" as "Membership".
  • Added /help regions and a prompt urging players to read it when they approach a claimable region.
  • Taxation added to pillars, an optional feature on the player side.
    - Can be set to a set amount of Minas by region owner.
    - Region members are expected to pay this amount with each activity cycle. They can do this with a button added to the region pillars. Members given clearance may then collect this taxation at the pillar
    - There are no mechanical consequences for failing to pay tax, but the region leadership will be notified of a member's refusal to pay.
    - Prospective members are made aware that the region they would join is taxed.
  • Basic WorldGuard integration: Players/GMs can hand out build privileges (not membership) via /rg addmember and /rg removemember. /rg info produces information on the Nexus Region
  • Less buttons on Nexus Region Moderation. Moderation buttons now apply to the region the moderator is currently standing in. (mostly just removed functionality so you can't click the wrong things ;)
  • Moderator Usage has been improved for viewing a region - you now fully can act as the region owner.
  • Added /regionstats to give a top 5 of most populous, most active and wealthiest settlements of Athera

It is in high hopes that these changes will fix a majority of the problems associated with the Nexus-Regions plugin. In addition to the above patch, most (if not all) of the bugs previously associated with the plugin have been effectively squashed. Keep in mind that this is only a part of step 2 of Project Overhaul, but we wanted to get this patch out as soon as possible. (Step 2 involves the revision/removal of certain influential plugins on the server). Expect to see a continuation in the near future.

Horse ****

That is all

Edit: let me elaborate. The community and the staff have this stupid relation that the staff give us things we don't want. We don't WANT the nexus regions, it'd been stated many times before. We don't want a nexus region FIX, we want it removed. Why, why, why do we get what we don't ask for?

I understand, and I THANK THE TECH TEAM FOR ALL THEIR WORK, but don't force this crap down our throats, please.... We were told it'd be removed, and now everyone's going back on their words.

Now please... Please fix the locations of the plots...

Please remove the plots far away from anything, and add a lot of plots near something.
