Your Opinions On Marijuana?

As someone who smoked a lot in the past I think my opinion can be valuable here.

 

Should weed be legalized? Yes, yes it should. The drug obviously has medical properties and has been shown time and time again to be used for harmless recreational fun. Not to mention the legalization would bring MASSIVE amounts of money into the economy through taxes- as well as get rid of many of the sketchy issues that come with obtaining something illegally- such as lacing and obtaining the drug (i've been in some downright strange situations myself).

 

Now in terms of it being bad for you, of course it is. Inhaling any type of smoke into your lungs is going to cause problems and not to mention if you smoke too much of it you turn into a lazy dumbass. The problems that occur with weed are caused by people with no self control. Too much of a good thing is always going to end up badly.

Marijuanna isn't "as bad as smoking and alchohol" in fact it's not bad for you at all compared to them. It has no real long lasting detrimental affects, other than inhaling smoke - but people have been doing that for centuries and it's become apparent that just inhaling smoke in such a way isn't enough to kill you.

 

The only long term effects of Mary Jane on the body only really apply if your brain is still developing (ie children/teenagers/young adults shouldn't smoke it), but even then you have to smoke it regularly. Trying it here and there won't do much.

Not to mention that it costs money to put people in jail or whatever punishment. If it were legal, states would save a lot of money on not having to punish the past "Abusers"

 

They make more money on keeping them in prison though. Privately owned prisons are pretty much legalized slave labour, and drug convictions sure helps them keep the prisons going.

Well, if we're being serious.

1. Marijuana would be safer if it were legal.

2. Taxing the drug trade would be great for the government.

3. People will likely do it less if they're taught proper, unbiased facts and it's not taboo. 

 

Laws are meant to save people from each other, not themselves. The entire war on drugs is nonsense.

I am a very confrontational individual by nature, so god knows that I could benefit mentally and emotionally from being shut in a room with a joint for a few hours. If I wasn't subjected to random drug tests, and I could obtain it legally, then I would absolutely 420 blaze it or whatever the kids these days are saying.

 

Reasons to vote for marijuana legalization:
