Tilruir'lliran *- Ballot Box -*

"The voting system has a very specific  philosophy indeed. The mali'aheral will never be forced to vote for someone and if you lack confidence in both parties you may simply place all votes into the abstain categories. A candidate that recieves a majority abstain will not be elected and instead new candidates will be found. If you do not have strong feelings on the matter but cannot choose between the two or are unsure if they are fit for the role then fill in each of the boxes with once tally. This essentially makes your vote a true abstain which is my default vote."

"I believe the idea is that you can vote once for either party, or not vote - which is considered abstinence from a vote. An ideal voting example would be as follows:

Delonna []

Kelthran [x]

-Or-

Delonna [x]

Kelthran []

Whereas if a Mali'aheral were to deign not to vote, they'd simply not waste the paper in bothering to put their decision not to decide on a note and presenting it to the government."

Apollo frowns at Kelthran's explanation, evidently unsatisfied by this one as well. "Perhaps their ought to be a Council position dedicated to the construction and maintenance of a logical voting system." he shrugs, replacing his helm to his head before returning to his patrol of the city.

"Dare I even ask what's illogical about the process I described? The lack of ability to vote against people? Perhaps a vote of no confidence could be included as a third option... but if you're voting against one party, it's effectively the same as voting for the other one."

"I believe it would be best to put forth three options: two for the potential candidates, and the third for abstention. This way, a vote of no confidence is possible, yet only likely if both candidates are not desired. At present, the system encourages abstention votes for an unfavorable candidate, so in a close race it is unlikely either candidate would receive a majority of support if only a couple members abstain for both. In your system, there is no vote of no confidence." He shrugs, the steel of his armour clinking as he does so. "It is no matter, though. We shall have a Tilruir'lliran, I hope."

"I'm certain that it is meant to be the way you describe. I'm not sure why it became as it is."

"This method is terrible... This is why we should not let Iatrilemar run elections".

"Not to mention it takes /forever/ to get done, and when citizens post election ballots, they are torn down in show of power," mutters Luther.

"It is your method Taeleh. Also this is not a show of power. I was simply curious about the method and so I am testing it out again. Strange that no one raised their concerns the first time."

"I had thought it to be a misunderstanding on the part of the voters in its previous incarnation, Malaurir. I apologise for not making it known to you. Forgive my slothfulness."
