Theodosius I has died

Holofernes Castle was filled with cold, thick air. On most days birds would be chirping outside, and the warm breeze of Visiga would fill the palace, but not today. Today the High Pontiff has fallen, a young man named Theodosius I. A scroll would be in his cold, colorless hands. It would be covered in blood but there would be no wound. Blood dripping out of the High Pontiffs mouth onto his robe, a quill resting next to him on the desk he was writing at. A sight his very own brother would have to see. Holy Ser Sokol Nikovich found his beloved brother dead, without warning or a goodbye. He would pick up the scroll and read it - Some words would be unreadable due to the blood on the page

“God has taken me”

Dear God’s children,

It is with terrible sadness that I have to write this letter, but I am near death. A terrible cough came upon me weeks ago that I’ve ignored and hidden from everyone. Many men have asked me about it, and I thank them for their kindness and caring. My response would be “Of course I’m okay” or “I’m sure it is nothing”, until I get home and cough blood into my hands, washing them in the very river I bathed in as a child. I was foolish and now it is too late. I do not believe in healers, medicine or magic so I did not go searching for any of that even tho they were brought to my attention. But this letter is not for myself, I am not writing it to put myself down, I’m writing it as a goodbye to everyone in this world that I’ve grown close to, to everyone I’ve known. To His Imperial Majesty - Working hand in hand with you has been an honor. We’ve had our differences in what is best for the Church and now is the only time I have to address these disagreements. The Church must be independent. It must be independent due to the unknowing future and the fact that sooner or later someone will get their hands on the Imperial Crown who should not have a say in any Church matters. This is my final time asking for the Church's independence to be granted, and I know it is Gods will so it shall be done. I wish I would have gotten to know you better, but now it is too late I’m afraid. That stew you made and had me eat was awful but I told you it was excellent because I did not want to hurt your feelings. I’m sure someone will be able to help you with that.. I’m laughing right now - blood would be splatted over a few words - Goodbye and keep doing a grand job as Emperor. To the Gold Corps - Thank you for protecting me when I had no-one else to turn to. Rick, Petyr, and Jan are some of the greatest men I know and I am grateful to have them as friends. Goodbye. To Felsen - Fix my Cathedral please, its bell tower cant ring if it's destroyed. Anyone who is involved in the destruction of that tower shall be punished by death, thank you and Goodbye. To the Vanirs - I’m glad my blessings helped you get your home back during the war, Goodbye. To my childhood friends, Charles, Henry, Emma, and Brandon - I wish you all best of luck in the future and I hope all of you think back to our childhood and tell great stories about me, Goodbye. To my Synod - God will hand pick one of you great men to replace me and I trust all of you to do an excellent job and to support whoever becomes the next High Pontiff. Thank you for all of your help in every decision I’ve made. Goodbye. Finally, to Sokol Nikovich, my brother - I’m going to miss beating you up when we would spar and I’m so very sorry for not seeking help knowing I was ill. It isn’t fair to you or anyone... Raise your son to be a great man and do not let him have children or lay with a woman until he is married. -Blood would be splatted on the scroll, covering some words - God is watching you and will always be on your side, as will I. Do not forget where we come from and our culture. You were a great brother and a great Holy Knight, Goodbye. I should stop writing now.. Its

getting difficult. "

"God is the answer to Orens problems and God is the answer to Orens Enemies. May God guide you all to him and to his everlasting love."

Thank you.

Signed,

His Holiness Theodosius I

Robbie recalls not murdering him, and wipes the sweat from his brow. "Glad our secret was taken to the grave." he smirks.

*Theodoric would consul his grieving wife, Emma, upon hearing the news of Theodosius's death. After some time a candle would be lit, followed by prayer.*

In his seclusion, Charles hears word of the passing of his great friend. Grief stricken, he journeys from his isolated home into the forests that surround it. For an entire day he wanders the forest in absolute silence and solace, momentarily stopping to pray for the fallen Georgiy. Finding a small underbrush he falls asleep in the small hours of the night, hungry and thirsty from fasting on his short trip.

Benegar Gotthold kneels before the altar, praying for the repose of the soul of High Pontiff Theodosius upon receiving the notice.

He whispers under his breath,

"Requiescat in pace. Amen."
