The rigid structure jutted out, erect from the crashing water and treacherous mountains. The rain beat upon the keep and its towers like arrows upon a shield. The blue banners flapped violently in battle, pitched against the urging wind. The noise from within the keep was struck down by the rolling thunder, yet the inhabitants carried on with their mortal ramblings.

Behind heavy oaken doors, an aged man, once young and full of energy, watched idly as his kinsmen battled amongst themselves in argument. He had never been a talker, but his head hurt far too much to speak against the conflict of his sons.

He had to seat himself and was forced to watch this conflict as if the wind was knocked from him by a hulking warrior. He only wished for rest, but he would get none until his offspring settled their dispute. A nagging of tightness tapped at his neck as he turned to look out the window, his vision becoming dizzy and his balance losing its hold upon him.

The crisp flash of lightning pierced his visage and sent his mind spiraling, cast from reality. His earlier years suddenly were current, he was in the keep of Karl Barbanovic. In his hands, a gift. It was his wedding day. In the room stood various nobles from the Realm, come together to celebrate this merriment. And suddenly, the rug pulled from under the man and he was on a battlefield. The banner of Sarkoz flew in the sky, the bustling expanse of Brelus a silhouette on the setting sun. In the distance came white cloaks, white gambesons and banners, the Sun became powerful  and crows filled the air.

The man urged forth with his comrades and met the white mass in the moonlit field, they were winning. The white banners were stained red with blood, the White Crow Standard held high and with it the Gilded Crow, a Blue Sea Serpent, a Black Bear. These animals collapsed to the ground, the Sun grew powerful as day suddenly returned with fury. The ground beneath the man shifted and he was within a forest, it was bright day. The Sun beat down upon the field violently, the man’s comrades were beat back by a new, freshened white and green mass of soldiers. The man turned to his left, a headless man fought beside him and was soon cut in half in a gruesome display. He turned suddenly, sweating and his heart beating quicker. Before him slithered a Sea Serpent, being cut into pieces by the white, Savoyard soldiers.

The man opened his eyes, his family fought still before him in verbal combat, and his heart beat for the last time. His vision blurred and then pulsed, he fell over off of his seat and onto the hard stone of Kraken’s Watch. Britannus Vanir lay dead.

Zacharie LaPointe would remove his feathered helmet with both hands. He'd curl his right hand around his helm, holding it against his side. He would proceed to dip his head in respect. "Rest easily Britannus...  A man of true honor." he'd let out an exasperated sigh. 'It's a shame we had to fight on two different sides of a war."

As Rodrik rides slowly up towards the gates of Kraken's Watch, he is told his dear friend and Lord Britannus is dead.

He frowns looking down as Britannus ships burns in the sea he says to himself.

"The Sea Bows to None....."

Emma watches the burning boat float off into the distance, her eyes red from sobbing. She would take a deep and shaky breath “I—.. I am so sorry, Papej… I love you so-…so much…” She’d manage to choke out before breaking down into tears.
