~⋞☠⋟ On Elixirs of Shrinking ⋞☠⋟~

Its Origins and Creator

It was a bone-chilling day of the deep cold. Rafiel Halkon sat at a desk in his lab, toiling with speculations and experimentations throughout the morn. Without invitation, a friend took stride through the door. He made proposition of an idea that could ultimately prove a true accomplishment of alchemy. Without delay Rafiel set to work, braving the various climates of Axios in search of the reagents to make this small proposal a reality. At least, he thought, it would make for quite the party trick!

Summarization and Description

The potion of shrinking is a unique matter. Unlike most concoctions, its effect reduces the volume of the user’s body rather than directly amplify an attribute. And in doing so, the bodily proportions of said user remain constant. Important to note is that the potion's effects only work on organic matter, which entails that clothing shall retain its dimensions prior to and after the change. An interesting fact to recognize, is that the shrinking in the body also applies to the vocal cords. One may find themselves embarrassed or entertained at first by the new octave in which they communicate.

The elixir's potency varies with dosage size and base, though the most heavily impacted factor is the duration for which one remains in their shrunken state. The lesser potencies may last for mere minutes, while the greater have potential to span days at a time. Also to note is that the potion's period of effectiveness begins to dwindle exponentially when shrinking past one half of the user’s original volume. Experimenting with the durations for which the elixir is in effect is paramount to avoiding embarrassing or potentially dangerous scenarios.

Similar to the potion of strength, the potion of shrinking possesses its own set of drawbacks. Immediately upon consumption, most are compelled to purge their shrinking stomachs. Some may even pass out, due to their lungs suddenly expelling the excess oxygen. But most notably, those consuming the elixir cannot shrink below one quarter of their original volume.

As aforementioned, proportions of organic material remain constant. One with a larger quantity of muscle then may find themselves more prone to overreaching, misjudging their own speed, and things of the like after shrinking. Upon returning to normal size, most common side effects are muscle soreness, fatigue, hunger pains, shortness of breath, nausea, and vocal “cracking” in cases.

For those of you still doubting this idea’s plausibility, fret not. The proof that alchemy has the capacity to enable such changes lies set in the creation of sentient life and the fusion of beasts. The name examples being homunculi and chimeras, each formed through meticulous alchemical methods.

Long Term Effects

With the use of the concoction does come a particular set of effects over time. Firstly, those who partake of the potion very slowly begin to lose bone density. This makes habitual use highly detrimental to the user, as they eventually reach a point where the transformation itself shatters every bone in the body. This of course may be countered and repaired early on with a balanced diet and non-strenuous exercise routines. Another effect is the gradual reduction in normal volume. Over the course of many consumptions, the elixir takes its toll on the body. The frequent user may one day find themselves slightly shorter than they once were, though the loss in height is most always superficial.

Correct Usage and Redlines

  • The elixir cannot be effectively used for combat, as such rigorous activity and mental strain causes the body to deplete the consumed elixir at a far greater rate.

  • Strength scales downward exponentially with the decrease in size. One standing at ¼ of their original volume would then only be able to lift roughly 20% of their original maximum, and even then at high depletion of the consumed elixir.

  • After consuming a potion of shrinking, the concoction will take upwards of ten to twenty Elven minutes to be absorbed and take any effect.

  • The dosages cannot be overlapped. For example, one under the effect of a dosage that lasts for another hour cannot be administered another elixir to extend their shrunken time. The effect of the newly introduced potion would react with that of the first, shrinking the body unevenly and resulting in injuries from muscle tearing to bone protrusions due to parts of the body shrinking at faster rates.

  • It is highly recommended that the dosages are not taken within two Elven hours of each other. The doing of such could result in fevers, muscle tearing, uneven shrinking, and similar (Roll 12/20 or higher for a safe transformation).

Er this potion was already denied, also alchemy can't go this far sure we can have alch fire but C'mon this is matter manipulation. Sorry Antman but this goes way farther than even voidal magic goes.

p.s. If alch could modify volume then someone will go make the opposite of this and be giants, which would be terrible.
