Well it's not as bad as you're saying it is, but it's difficult to try and readjust and change the mindset of what spooks need to do. Spooks generally aren't very collective even if there's something like the Coven guiding them, that's just the nature of the Spooks. The nature of the problem can't be solved by just removing people and hoping stuff fixes itself: it's a long, drawn out process that involves collaboration with the spookums across the board to not only a) discuss what even constitutes a spook but also b) figuring out if there needs to be a long term goal that spooks need to achieve c) if spooks should and are able to unite under one banner effectively at any given time and d) discuss whether or not any of that would be a good idea, because the whole reason that spooks are attractive to play as and are a nice little distraction from the main bad guy of whatever Map we're on is that they're chaotic, strike randomly, and are SUPPOSED to (if other people are also RP'ing properly) to strike fear into the hearts of people. If you want to claim that quality of RP of spooks has decreased (which, depending on the group it may have), you also have to look at the quality of RP as a whole on the server and address that. This is a multi-faceted problem that won't be solved by someone angrily tapping on their keyboard about how bad spooks are because they had a few unenjoyable run-ins with people who were or are spooks. It's a server problem, not a spook problem. And like I said before, we're trying to work on consolidating, finding out where the weak points in spook RP are, and trying to improve on them.

Okay, so wait...

 

Because something inconvenienced you and you didn't like it... it should be removed or lowered? Uh huh. Well, considering Spooks are a thing that can be regulated IC by other normal characters why not start doing something about it ICly?

 

There are plenty of Holy Orders to join, plenty of spook killing task forces, etc. Or perhaps you're hanging out in spook hunting grounds? I know for one my character tends to hunt in the same areas for her food because she knows targets are easy prey because ICly they are defenseless. I'd suggest hanging out somewhere new, perhaps Norland or Santegia? Wood Elves, if you're not a human player, is good too!

 

Perhaps make your character more intimidating looking? Perhaps a scar or a burly accent!? I'm grasping at straws here.

 

I hear salt works for frost witches real well too, or like I don't know... Fire?

idc if you saw the gif or not, but I will continue to PvP spooks so I can get armor and satisfaction, thus getting more PvP; they're causing trouble nonetheless. Its simply how I enjoy the server.

 

In a more serious note, large amounts of undead hunting groups have been created in the past. I think there was this place, I think it was Aesterwald or Haense, not sure, that was made by kincaid and used as some sort of bastion against the threat of the north that was Mordring. For the time it existed, it was fun.

 

Other than that, most groups probably felt into oblivion, going innactive or they just gave up after realising that it'll take nowhere since no one of both groups wants to PK or do something non-scripted that is greater that should boost roleplay, for example, scheduled events or meetings against spooks are scripted events. Maybe you could make one?

The only way to lower spook numbers is to have a guild that actively hunts them.. The Ascended evidently need to get better at their jobs or spooks need to be nerfed drastically.

We can't force pk anyone so why should we be pk'd. 

 

And you know, like seriously? Why not just enjoy RP and use the situation to make fun for yourself? Like how I'm expected to do when I'm fucked up by guards for the fifth time in a row?

That's what I'm getting at. You can't blame the group who exist to hunt spooks for the reason the spookdom grows larger. They can't really affect it no matter what they do.

True but tbh I haven't even seen a holy do anything for a while now, though I mean I suppose I don't put myself in danger much anymore.

If the spook's a lichtype you can in fact hunt down the spook and kill them by destroying their phylactery. Which is more than can be said for other inflated groups on LotC
