Unwillingly 18123 Share Posted May 20, 2019 I’ve been on this server for about 3-4 years now and I’ve been playing my character Cyrene ever since I returned from my almost year long-ish hiatus, as well as a few side characters as plenty of you may know, and I’ve found that I really enjoy her as one of my characters! Some people have really strong bonds with their character, even outside of LOTC, and some probably don't feel that way at all-- both being perfectly fine. So tell me about your character! Do you main only one character? Do you play two, three, four? What are some old, now-dead or even shelved characters you had? What kind of character development have they gone through? How long have you been playing them? Is this a character you had before you played LOTC, or did you make it for this server specifically? What are some of your character’s greatest feats? I’d love to hear what other people have to say ?
Vindicant 642 Share Posted May 20, 2019 give the “”non-main”” character a purpose or a cool group of ooc friends, if you do you’ll be incentivized to play like my September Cultist character, that was a hoot. it’s all about having stuff to do, and a purpose behind it! Salty 377 Share Posted May 20, 2019 I Currently have 3 charactars, and there all pretty staple to me, and i think ive found a good mix with them I have my Olog, Shrog’Shuzig, who is this giant behemoth of hunger and boats (his favorite food is boat) i play him mostly when im needing a good laugh or orcs are doing some events, as hes a funny charactar to play i have my Hou zi, who is a peace loving baboon monkey named Hsieh-Xin. hes my relaxing char, lots of diplomacy and family stuff, along with some cool Chi magic and religion, all in all a very fun charactar to play when i just want to do some RP with the other hou/ dimplomacy stuff. fun times then i have Jakub Dragonscale, the newest addition to my persona roster, hes a fun human child, who loves dragons and likes adventure and action. i moulded this charactar off of me, and am kinda just seeing what happens with him! its been a fun time so far
PosidonX7 269 Share Posted May 20, 2019 From fighting in wars to travelling through different dimensions/time, Sylvia is my favorite character. She’s gone through so much and has developed more than I could have ever even guessed she would. She’s met an original being without one of the four curses, gone to other realms, been in the presence of one of the four brothers, slain a demi-god, and done so much more. Through her progression, she has become the complete opposite of what she once was. All that being said, the parts that matter the most are not all the encounters, but rather who she personally spent her time with, and what they did together. In my experience, the best role-play comes around when you put yourself out there and have people to enjoy it with. To really bring in the thoughts of: “Who does she value?” and “What does she value?” What is she trying to do? What is her objective? And when I complete an objective, I find another one. NotEvilAtAll 10906 Share Posted May 21, 2019 My first character was an Orenian guard named Philias who joined up with the army of Haense when he stumbled upon one of their forts next to the Urguan fast travel. I didn’t really do much with him besides grind a bit of lumberjacking and goof around. Some time later, I became OOCly biased against the Orenian Empire and made an edgy Delf bandit to stalk the roads between Johannasburg and the Human fast travel. His name was Avturr, which translates to “wandering sheep”. After some time banditing, I met @bahbou123456 who’d let me live in his fortress outside of Urguan if I rallied to fight for them. I fought in the Battle of the Gorge on Avturr, and waited around to fight in the Battle of Goldfields but had to leave before the fighting began. I joined a community of dark elves living in Krugmar with Avturr after the war was over, got some cool facial tattoos, and mined some iron for them. That was basically all I did with him. While I was still busy playing Avturr, @bahbou123456 approached me and asked me if I could play a halfling in the new halfling settlement he created called “Mellsburry”. After I created a halfling called “Gerald”, I soon accepted his offer and became one of the 3 (or was it 4?) founders of Mellsburry along with bahbou123456 and TakKumn (who now goes by Nafari). I helped create the massive farms outside of the Mellsburrian docks and spent a lot of time roleplaying with other halflings and exploring the vast lands of Axios. Due to my activity and decent roleplaying skills, bahbou chose me to be one of the 3 Elders of Mellsburry, a role I was only somewhat suited for at the time. One day, bahbou went on hiatus for a month and appointed Gerald as the regent Mayor If Mellsburry. I led the settlement for a week or two until I realized that Mellsburry was far less active without bahbou leading it. When @HedgeHug created a new halfling village called “Rivershire”, I chickened out and tried to relocate all of Mellsburry to the new village in order to unify the halfling playerbase, only to find out that Rivershire wasn’t even completed yet and I’d effectively destroyed the last active halfling village on Axios without replacing it. It is for this reason I claim sole responsibility for the Great Village Collapse of Axios, for Reedsborough would’ve remained the dominant halfling village had I not been so active in Mellsburry, and Mellsburry wouldn’t have collapsed had I not dispersed half of the playerbase into the wind. From there I wandered around Axios trying to find where the remaining halflings had fled. I created a Skype chat called “All the halflings in one Skype” designed to bring the halfling playerbase back together, and soon several prominent halflings from KaiserThoren to MicBox were making plans for a halfling revival in the Skype I made. We finally settled on creating a new village in Lorraine because the landscape looked cool, and quickly founded the village of Pendlemere centered around Cotton Lake. Gerald helped build the storage burrow of Pendlemere as well as his own burrow, but was killed in an Orc raid that inspired the “Murder in the Morn” RP thread that all the Pendlemere halflings collaborated to create. I decided to PK Gerald and create a new halfling who was the sister of MicBox’s character, Merridolph Applebrook. This new character was a female halfling named Madeline Applebrook, who lived and worked in Pendlemere along with her brother, Merridolph. Through her experienced most of my time in Pendlemere and the post-Mellsburry halfling Axios. She never attained any important roles nor did anything of note besides casual roleplaying and the occasional event or oddity. While I had been a somewhat important halfling leader as Gerald, Madeline was somewhat more tame and only gained leadership over the halflings later in her life. Madeline Applebrook married Harold Withfoot in a quaint wedding that only a few halflings attended, and soon got to work creating the Applefoot family with him. Besides getting married, however, Madeline would do little in Pendlemere. After Pendlemere stagnated we decided to move back under Sutica again and founded the village of Mapleshire, completely abandoning Pendlemere. Madeline Applefoot (now with a new last name) did a lot more in Mapleshire, from nearly converting the settlement to Canonism with the help of Hektor Blackwood (made even more impressive by the fact that we didn’t even OOCly plan to do so), becoming the Sheriff of Mapleshire and administering a few activity checks, helping set up the task board and organizing the construction of new burrows, and practically ruling the settlement all by herself when the Elders were all busy with real life things. It was with her I transitioned to my second map on LoTC, Atlas, and helped build a lot for the 6.0 village we planned to have in Sutica To make a long story short, the Sutican village didn’t work out and we ended up living in a Cloud Temple plot called “Dunshire” for all of Atlas. It was in Dunshire where Madeline organized the Dunshire Drinking Nights (known for producing fairly consistent halfling activity) and ran a few parties when she wasn’t calling the current Elders undead witches. She also organized the infamous “War of Peace” (officially declared in the thread “Dunshire goes to WAR!!!”) after a few biggun raids left her and the other halflings mad. This backfired when raiders interpreted the document as an actual war declaration instead of a protest movement and soon Dunshire was being sacked with 10+ man raids every other day. In one of these raids (or perhaps a bit after them), Madeline Applefoot is stabbed in the back and permanently killed. I then played as one of Madeline’s children, Daisy Applefoot, who is my current main halfling persona. She did an absolute metric ton of stuff from organize more Dunshire Drinking Nights to Halloween events to a heckin’ Dunshire Civil War etc etc etc. At that point a significant portion of halfling roleplay existed because I still had the drive to organize events and promote roleplay within Dunshire, a feat I’m still proud of today. Daisy Applefoot would then marry a random halfling who claimed to be her cousin (but actually isn’t her cousin, so it’s technically not incest)). This halfling, named Rollo Applefoot, would soon become the supreme leader of Dunshire and the halflings thanks to her help, thus removing some of the burdens of governance from her shoulders. (He still rules over the halflings even in Brandybrook. A really epic dude indeed). They’d have a ton more kids because more children=more halflings to role play with, and soon the Applefoots are the biggest halfling family ever created. That’s about it really. Daisy’s done more things in Arcas such as organize the Brandybrook River Festival and a few other events, but as of present her future is still undecided and unpredictable. Who knows what crazy things the halflings and Daisy will do next!
chippedstars 38 Share Posted May 21, 2019 My main Cluney is a snow elf, a walking ball of anxiety, with twin kids from someone who cheated on her. She plays a pipe and the violin, and used to be a traveling rover, but is now working to become a doctor. She was tortured in haelunor and has a burn scar on her left hand, that she wears like a badge of honor. She’s been through a lot of ****, and has terrible luck with love. Inferno_Ougi 1454 Share Posted May 21, 2019 I like to still consider myself new to the server, and I’ve gone through 5 character so far. I wrote a sixth, but never played him. I like the idea of this thread, because it shows that we’re all connected in some way OOCLY, even if we are fighting IRP. There’s different stories going on at once, and it really makes LOTC feel like (and does make it) almost a living, breathing world. For a while, I mained my first character (and then my orc), because that was where I tested the waters. Later on though, I’d experiment by doing different races and such. Hanasun Chet – OOCLY, I was just a new player and I got recruited by Rivia. I hid in my house while everyone stayed in the VC and I was too afraid to say anything. Later, when I was by the new player village, two passerbys, Ruk (Shuggie) and Blogus (Minionman) stopped by, and I tried to make them recruit me as a bodyguard. It worked, so I left Rivia, and joined Nottingham, which was the start of my actual experience on LOTC. In my application, I wrote Hanasun in my application as a sort of, wise, quiet and strong, Harian outcast. However, joining with Nottingham, I realized that didn’t suit my character at all. He was a bandit, a slaver, but he was charismatic, clumsy at times, and didn’t really think before his actions. He followed those with power or money. I didn’t love my character, though, same as the rest of them. They were separate from me, most of the time at least, which is what I enjoy about RP. I have a lot of vivid memories on this character, since it was my first. After being picked up at new player village, I was struck by lightning, which was a crazy coincidence that I haven’t seen happen since. Later on, their friend, Grumbis (gump), stopped us on the road. I didn’t know at the time, but he was being tested to see if I could protect them. He started PvP (this was my first time PvPing seriously, I never liked minigames really before this), and I used my shield mid pvp thinking it would block hits. He was using an axe, but I was still destroyed. Further down the road, we found an elf that was maimed and lying by a tree. They groaned and begged for aid, but Blogus pulled out a cleaver and ate him, much to the dismay of the player OOCly. I still wonder if they PKed or not. Inside the Dominion, we scammed elves, using a ploy that I’d use countless times later on, saying that we’d sell them a house, while showing them a random screenshot of a house and saying it was a drawing. That was my first day of actual RP. Later on, we’d go slaving, and I’d fight my first Renatus rally. I met Pond through that, and I still remember Puknaak’Lak. To keep it short, Hanasun would convert to worshipping Belka, then following Xionism and sacrificing to a void wraith after meeting Lhindir, fight in the orc-elf war, fight in my first warclaim, White Peak, and fight constantly with different groups. Banditting was fun for me, it really was. I fought almost everyone on that character, except for Krugmar. He’d also fight for the September Cult, which was a ton of fun. One of my most vivid memories wasn’t PvP or a warclaim, though. I halted someone on the roads, with a loaded crossbow, and fired at them when they didn’t lay down their arms. They ran all the way to Belvitz, so I chased them and downed them in the tavern, and revived them of course. This was a full tavern, with guards, traders, citizens, and the like. This caused a large commotion, and so I RPly convinced them that I was in fact a Harian citizen, and a friend of the druids, framing the man I took down as the bandit. He argued, but luck had it that I had a shield with the druid/virarim banner (you can guess where I got that from) on it. I convinced them to the point to where they believed me, but would fine both of us. Him for being a bandit, and me for causing such a problem. They took me to the bank, but I emoted nervously looking around and moving to the doors. Then, I bolted straight out, and they chased me, but not very far. I was free, and was later complimented by the man I banditted for the good villainy RP. Glottgut’Raguk – After Krugmar had lost San’Kala, and all of Nottingham guys banned or inactive because the others were banned, I decided to play an orc with Flamelynx. As Raguk and Krugmar as a while were in dire straits, there was a lot of freedom to move up the ranks as well. As a cub I would go out, challenging travellers to klomps. It’d be for slavery, gear, or just to kill them. Later on, Raguk camp was established, and I’d fight against Sutica a lot. One of my favorite PvP clips is from a raid on there. Glottgut would later become Wargoth, and lead the clan war against Shakul’Gorkil, for, albeit, OOC reasons. Still, me and Flamelynx won, and neither of us chose to be Rex. Later on, partially after my instigation, the Coalition wars would begin. We lost each one, but I was able to lead the last one, and despite losing, I’d say it was the closest out of the four, despite our numbers lacking severely from our losses. Glottgut later died in Arcas, after I was unbanned. I really like to think my PK post was the best thing I’ve written on the server so far. There was no other way I would have liked to PK, it was just so fitting, not only for an orc, but for his character. Going against his enemies for a final time, while his own kinsmen were scattered and broken. Clayton – After the Coalition wars, I’d still play Glottgut, but I decided to play the son of Ruk. I considered playing a dwarf instead, but decided against it. Me, Flamelynx, and rarechris all played brothers. It was fun, basically doing the same thing as Hanasun Chet. To be honest, he wasn’t fleshed out, as I really just killed and banditted on him. I still had fun playing him. When I got banned, however, I decided to shelf him/effectively PK him, saying he was still in Atlas, unknown whether or not he could survive through the harsh cold like his ancestors. I like to think that he’s in a cabin, fighting off wolves occasionally. If I ever do play him again, I don’t think it would be impossible to say he crossed over into Arcas though. Hannibal Jrent – I was banned for four months, and after my attempts at arguing failed, I decided to let it go and just wait it out. During this, Flamelynx asked DPM for a Horen, bastard of his Horen character. He said yes, and so when after I PK’d Glottgut, I played Hannibal. He stuck with the Nottingham merchants who returned, fought with the Reivers against the Empire, but was also a merchant, businessman, and salesman. However, when he was forced out of the Empire, his restraint from banditing was effectively for nothing. While the rest of Nottingham basically got bored or got banned again, I wanted a change of pace. Currently, he fights for Renatus in the War of Two Emperors. Jorgan Frostbeard – Also because the rest of Nottingham was gone, I decided to play with one of the only ones who was left, Garrond. I’ve been wanting to play a Frostbeard for a while, and even though I’ve barely played with him, I think it’ll be fun. I know it’s really gay for me of all people to write this, but I do enjoy the server, no matter how much I complain or troll about my gripes with different communities or the server staff itself. I haven’t encountered anything else like it, and I’ve been on and off RPing on forums and on other games since I started middle school. I like to look back on my characters, because they are vastly different from anything I could ever be. I still play with the people I’ve met along the way, and I think if there’s anything to take away from the server, it’s friends. Corny, I know. LeoRabbit99 360 Share Posted May 21, 2019 After Richard died, by far my favorite and most played persona, I’ve been big sad--and have been tempted multiple times to just cheap it out and turn him into a ghost or something. Playing a character for 2 years and going through his experiences really attached me to him. But I’ll stay true to my clause. People should PK when it calls for it, I think. I think that if overall everyone did that, the server, in general would just feel more immersive and dangerous. I don’t think LotC will ever have that same life for me, but I hope I can at least find some solace of enjoyment on my new character ?
Chase 3793 Share Posted May 21, 2019 I got a depressed ass ptsd riddled ***** boy ithelanen who started as what was to be a generic pickpocket, turned sutican, turned sutican guardsman, turned banished edgy ****, turned edgy mercenary, turned edgy dominionite soldier, turned slightly less edgy virarim soldier rising the ranks. Eventually I got ivvolved with the big boys and joined the government, at a time leading the virarim after Matt got banned. I've since been apart of three almost four different governments for different nations, but I've sorta slipped out of it. The character is honestly a lot of fun to play and I'm glad that I was able to rebrand as edgy to not so edgy. Sorta. Moving on, I have my Vallberg who Khan and Eli gave me to play. He started off as a young lad in the Imperial Legion, rose the ranks a bit, I went inactive and got discharged, and now I'm active again, where he's a Reiter and now a newly made knight. He's quite fun to play on and I enjoy the family rp. Now I got a generic fella. John mcfucking Smith. He was made as a meme to be a first death pk character. He has seventeen brothers, all named John Smith. His dad is John Smith, and two other John Smiths are played. One was killed, played by TwoFeatherQ, who fell off a bridge during an expedition in the Haensetic royal army and died. And the other is played by Archipelago. Now, John Smith rebranded himself as Hannes Ean Jovan Kowal, a Reiter. He's now inactive as **** tho lol. Now I have Tilruir'tir, who is my first chair's son. He doesn't do much and he's basically a contingency plan for when or if I get pked. I have my druid, who was my second persona who is the daughter (yes gender ending i know its degenerate I was young and naive) of two absent parents. Adopted by Hareven basically, she became a druid, after a year-long dedicancy. She's a shy and I'm inactive on them but they're great fun to play. Now I also have a character I briefly ported over from another server but it was really cringy and I want to forget it I also got a French lad turned dragon who's a antiantiRenatian priest fella. He's fun because he only speaks Auvergnian)(mostly) so I can flex my ninth grade French knowledge on people Yeah I have a lot of characters so sue me. Excuse any mistakes I wrote this on mobile Edit: I forgot about a character whoops
