Grouch, ever the working-man of Helena, announces to the public his bid for mayorship of the city he calls home.

Hail to all and any, the name’s Grouch Carrington. For decades I have toiled as the common man of Helena, starting my dues in this humble town as a sheep shearer and street-sweep. It has been my lastin’ pleasure to work alongside the humble and varied folk that call Helena homeland. I’ve been a home-owner in Helena since the lands o’ Atlas. Upon my move to Arcas, I sought a greater understandin’ of Helena and her peoples. I have labored as clerk, store owner, street-merchant, and Livery Master. The years have flown by and I have met too many folks & fellows to name them all, but none have ever left my heart completely.

It was my work that flourished the Livery Guilds in many ways, stepping up constantly ta see what’s been needed o’ me and mine. ‘Twas I that kept the streets clean in so many windy nights where sand or junk mail was left to waste on our lovely andesite roads. ‘Twas I who labored humbly ta bring so many folks jobs in the tavern, or the farms, or the Mercer’s Guild. No man can say that he has a closer relationship ta the workers o’ Helena than I. From rock and wool, I built myself from nameless man to the humble urban Grouch I am today.

Let there be nae confusion, I am indebted ta Helena till my last breath. The city was my cradle & home, and I wake to her every mornin’ with a proud grin to call myself a citizen of her walls. If I am ta be elected Mayor, I shall see the Livery Guilds continue ta be organized and used as a tool to provide the common-folk well paying jobs and immaculate crafts. If I am ta be elected Mayor, I shall see the crime rates o’ Helena be addressed with a keen eye towards justice & equality. Under me, the city shall expand and offer housin’ to those without padded pockets & provide any man, woman, or child with a purpose to fill in our city.

I am understandin’ of those who wish ta see festivities as well as social gain. If I am ta be elected Mayor, Helena will have never seen more organized events. From the Livery Fair ta a Boating Gala, and the employment of Town Criers & Minstrels to keep our streets merry. I shall continue ta hold my cherished horse auctions, and we shall see events for both the common folk and the nobility alike.

And finally, if I am elected Mayor again, we’ll kill the sewer gator once and for all!”

Angelika Bykov nods in approval as she read over Grouch’s campaign and platform. ”If only I could vote, it would surely be for him. Though I can publically endorse him.” With a smile, she began to draft up her letter of endorsement.

18th of The Deep Cold, 1771

From what I have seen and heard of Mr. Grouch, he is an extremely hardworking individual. I believe that he has worked tirelessly and is very much deserving of his success. His has truly done wonders for Helena and I believe that as Mayor, he will continue doing so. For these reasons, I would like to proudly announce my endorsement and full support in Mr. Grouch’s campaign for Mayor.

Signed, MHC Angelika Bykov
