News travel quickly around the world, and surely even those in far distant lands would come to hear of Otto's resignation. It took a couple of weeks, but Otto found a letter on his desk.

"Thank you, for everything." It simply read, without signature.

As the daughter-in-law and Lady Emissary of Otto Gant's council, she recalled fondly the conversation she held with him after her first meeting with her ambassadors. It was rare she would ever talk to him in anything that wasn't politics, but the moment had stayed with her. Malcolm Gant was the subject - a friend then, husband now. Alyona scanned the missive with wide eyes, but she wasn't alarmed. Rather, it was the piece of advice she had needed for a long time.

"Spasiba..." Was all she uttered, sliding the parchment into a book on her personal desk. He had taken a chance on her, a young and impressionable nineteen year old. Now was her chance to prove him right in his decision more than ever.

"You've my thanks, Lord Otto. My thanks one-million times over."

With that, the King began to pen a missive of appointment.

It has now been over two centuries since the burning of Ves befell Adria.

The Count of Aldersberg's eyes light up in a fury at the mention of the burning of Ves by a Haeseni. The paper crumbles as his hands tense, Markus shakily placing the copy delivered to him into his cabinet.

"This Palatine seemed a reasonable man.. but to fondly recall w great betrayal of Haense against Adria..."

He shook his head in anger, and quickly poured himself some Carrion Black to calm his nerves. Markus would go on to swear liberally to his wife when retelling what he had read, drunkenly exaggerating the perceived insult in frustration. @milkyi
