Percy, the newly appointed Amiratus of Balian, checked the aviary as he did daily- retrieving a letter from it. "Ah, the King is back? I didn't know he was even gone- or missing, I suppose? Oh well, some good news in wake of the return to war." He mumbled, tucking it into his clothing to show the Queen Sybille later. Whether or not he knew of his disappearance, if he was TRULY missing, it gave Percy some small measure of cheer to know his friend had returned.

Viktor var Ruthern scowled as he looked out over battle-plans and parchments strewn upon his desk. He had been uncertain what fate had truly befallen the King after that fateful day, and had held his tongue for wont of some measure of respect for Amaya and the others. It was better to not spout unfounded nonsense. He was concerned, naturally, for his cousin, however.

They had known each other since they were boys, himself an especially petulant one in those years past, he could certainly admit. And for just as long, he had considered Aleksandr a friend of his, in spite of the disagreements they had through their lives. They had shed too much blood alongside each other for him to express doubts, and they had both become old men, now. The Ruthern knew he was a far-changed man from the boy he had once been.

That thought caused another to cross his mind, and the words escaped his mouth in a murmer, "And how have vy changed, coz?"

". . He is alive?"

The words of one Queen Amaya came hoarsely, and then came her tears of stark relief.

She wanted an explanation. She wanted answers. . .

but for now, she needed to see him, to truly know that he was there.

"Why would the courts lie and claim he was bedridden if he was off exploring." remarked Rhys var Ruthern as he heard of the Kings mysterious return from the wilderness.

Ioanna of Ba'as, amidst her business with the White Comet Tribunal and words of comfort to Queen Amaya, seemed genuinely surprised as those returning outriders brought the lost King home to Valdev. A quiet prayer was uttered, for the Rhenyari wondered what the monarch's return could mean. Would this be to the kingdom's benefit, or would it only leave the Crown more vulnerable to attack?

Ser Rickard pondered the kings next month. Much had changed in the time he was gone, and the knight knew not where the king had been himself. “I hope to God we see the light before things get worse.”

News reached the Bishop Villorik in the Basilica.

He glanced down to his aurum-edged halberd, laid reverently upon the altar.

"Let us see what the Light reveals, then."

Ser Audo Weiss was glad, certainly, to see the king returned well. Of course, in his absence had been troubles and he hoped he still had the heart to face them thoroughly.
