THE ABDICATION OF IOHANNIS BASILEUS

༻⊰──────────────────────────────────────────────⊱༺

IN THE YEAR OF

2073

༻⊰──────────────────────────────────────────────⊱༺

WE FIND OURSELVES STANDING UPON THE MOUNTS OF VICTORY. ENEMIES FALL BY THE WASTESIDE, LEAVING ONLY ONE TO BE A SINGLE FIGURE. The House of Basileus came into the lands of the Empire by a desire to totally rebuke the erroneous ways of the Horde, fighting till at last wrongs could be righted. The House of Basileus has seen that promise fulfilled.

The land is conquered and its people laid bare. Right has been done. Now the future shifts into new hands, just as the world has been bathed anew.

Therefore, it is with great esteem that I welcome my daughter into power. With this, I, Iohannis Basileus, Baron of Cascanova, do elevate Anastasia Basileus, Baroness of Solvis, to replace me as Baroness of Cascanova

I wish her, in all love and hope, to continue to grow the house.

“Long has our promised rebirth been forced to stand on the precipice, waiting in eternal hopefulness to be brought into the fold. Yet now, the glory of the maker and by the guidance of the light of stars is the path revealed to us, humble servants. From ash, the strong rise. The sands stir once more.”

The Oracle of Lotharia

I wanted to say shout out @__Stal27 and @Lirinya for giving me the opportunity to play Iohannis. I learned so much about leading a community. I wanted to thank everyone long for the way. Best of luck to you @Cheese. I have great confidence in you and your abilities as a leader. <3

Anastasia, now Baroness of Cascanova and Solvis, found herself sitting on one of Brecci's balconies. The memories were fuzzy, but she would never fully forget the attempt to instate her as a Grand Duchess at two. How her mother had to flee with her and her siblings to meet their Father, who would resettle in the Empire.

Iohannis had been her rock, her role model, everything she aspired to be. He had always been a leader, a Patriarch, and most importantly her Father. Would she ever be able to live up to the legacy he laid in stone? Could she weather the storms as gracefully as he had?

Whatever lay next, Anastasia wasn't quite sure. But she knew that as the new leader of the Cascanovan people, she needed to stand with the fortitude Iohannis bore.

Spoiler

Thank you so so much for everything you've done these past months. Your journey was unexpected and difficult, but through it all you have remained perseverant, kind, and hardworking. Couldn't have asked for a better predecessor <3

“Rest now, my friend, for ye must be prepared for the real war; the war we were always meant t’ fight.” Aviel Roy hummed as he looked out over the waters before setting the missive into a drawer of his desk.

Spoiler

Great job at leading Cascanova, dude! Wish I was able to work with ya more!

They see each other fairly rare these days - Cassian and his father. But every time he looked upon Iohannis, he could never see a Baron. The idea he was once an Archduke refused to come either. What stood before him, walked by him, raised him, and loved him, was a dying man. Perhaps now that his older sister has taken the title and throne, Cassian can focus more on seeing his father outside of his duties.

It is, perhaps, all that he can do now. The condition of his family members have become a gruesome one, and it would only leave him with regret to not be by their side for the remaining days. His search through the realm for means to see them become better may end up fruitless, but that is knowledge he yet swallows.

A young Cascanovan glanced over the missive, from the confines of his room.

So rarely, when among a mass of those who profane the name 'human', do good men arise. It is not question as to why he was so vigorously-opposed in rule. Rest well, Duke of Lotharia. It was your downfall that sparked this war, and now we have seen it through. Your home, a place denied to you by the people who swore themselves to your house, has returned to the fold of the Faithful.

Thinks the High Priest.

Percival de Lyons set the missive down after reading it and simply stated. "He deserves the rest."

Diana received word just before the Garmont Assembly has begun, having the time to read over the missive she couldn't help but smile. She knew her cousin would do well in charge; she only hoped that the burden of such would not overwhelm her.
