Hey, this topic is very helpful! I am also using your "Recovering The Ancient Tongue Of The Elves." topic to help find a suitable name. But I can't find what the word "Merchant" means in the Elf language. If you could help me, that would be awesome!

Thanks, Kyle.

'akalir' would mean merchant.

'akalir' would mean merchant.

Thank you so much! :)

EDIT: Hey again, I have found all of the names I am going to use, but now I just need to know how to display them correctly. What I mean is how to use the apostrophes correctly in between the words.

These are the words that I am using.

My first name would be Averir, which means adventurer, and my last name would be Akalir, which means merchant. So would it be written like "Averir Akalir" or "Averir'Akalir"?

My father's first name is going to be Lirrame, which means friend of the forest, and his last name would be Akalir as well. So would that be written like Lirrame'Akalir?

My mother's name is Mayilu Yuln, which means loved gem, and her last name would also be Akalir, so would it be written like Mayilu'Yuln'Akalir?

If you can help me, that would be great, thanks!

First name and last name should be seperate. So: 'Averir Akalir' and 'Lirrame Akalir'

Secondly, modifier comes after noun, so the mother's name will be: 'Yuln'mayilu Akalir'

I hope this helps :)

Awesome, thanks! You are a great help. Also, I figured the first and last names were separate, but I just wanted to confirm it. I also remembered that nouns were second, but again, just wanted to confirm.

So "Turrii Vallei'elacal" means "Lamb Cursed-Water"? ;)

Vallei'acal would be correct, actually.

I was wondering, what would 'wanderer of darkness' be? Or possibly (someone who)'wanders in darkness'? Thanks!

Old post, but averir'ker would be wanderer in darkness.

So, the descriptive word comes after, even if it's first in English?

Exactly.

I used this resource. You asked for us to tell you. I tried to get "Lonely Forest" or something along those lines. I ended up with Ame'sioln.

Very glad you used it and I hope you found it useful! Lonely Forest would be ame'siol, by the way. The extra n after the word would make it 'loneliness'

Cursed of thought Lonely of cursed...

No, as far as I am aware that is grammatically incorrect. The first one Acaln'iyat is correct however the second... Would need modification.
