The Asulon Map: Is It Obtainable?

Recently I was thinking about my experiences here on LoTC and fondly remembered my days this past summer in the Realm Of Asulon. This led to my wondering whether or not I could obtain such a map (MC file) for personal use. After approaching a certain well-known ex-staff (I think) member, I was told that while he did not have the map, it was possible that other members of the community did.

 

Now, since I assume the map is now obsolete, I am hoping to get it somehow, for nostalgic reasons if nothing else.

 

Is there a way to do this, and who now has the map file?

It's not gone, the GMs clearly have It recovered, but an older version.  It was used for the final event of Asulon,  and I want it up for download as well.

Does the term, "Unintentionally hacked and deleted" mean anything? My guess is that the bit for the final event was World Downloaded prior to said infiltration, and that the true map is deleted and floating off in the internet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the staff must have other (albeit older) versions.

They have an older version. A MUCH, older version of the map. It was so old that it couldn't be used as a replacement for the Asulon map we lost.

2 months before it was deleted, I believe. Meaning the backup was two months older then the most recent version we had.

I guess so... When I stopped playing LoTC for a while I think it was back in September allot was there I would be happy if they put that map up (I miss the island my Orc dwell on <3)

The reason the Aegis map was downloadable was because Vaq hosted it on his own site using his own bandwith... the Aegis map was 4GB I think, from memory, and the Asulon map is probably considerably larger. That's a lot of bandwith to pay for.
