Ranks

The ranks of the Highguard are kept straightforward with as little complication as possible. There is only one auxiliary rank in the system. Otherwise, one will find the ranking completely linear.

---High Commander Serva Rose---

The High Commander carries the flag of leadership in the Highguard. He manages the force as a whole and appoints senior officers to carry out day to day duties. When a High Commander retires or is KIA, the position is assumed by the Arbiter until a new High Commander is chosen by the council.

---Commander---

The Commander carries the voice of High Commander Rose in their respective cities. They are the highest officer appointed by the High Commander. Commander Aenor receives orders from Rose or Oceas and then assign a specific legion to the duties. They, along with the Arbiter and specific Sentinels make up the Highguard's council. One does not need to be a Sentinel before becoming a Commander, though they will most likely be chosen from a Sentinel or Warden.

---The Arbiter of the Highguard---

Arbiter Kaldo Raven'kor carries the duties of a Sentinel as well as being a main adviser for major decisions and strategist for the Commanders. It is the duty of the Arbiter to find relevant information of any given topic and put it to use. The Arbiter also acts as a field marshal when needed. To become the Arbiter, one must first serve as a Sentinel and prove sufficient knowledge of current events and strategy. They must also show the patients and skills to find missing information and use what has been learned to the maximum potential. Should a Commander fall in combat, or any other unplanned removal of a Commander, the Arbiter receives rights of inheritance for the position until Prince Oceas choosing another. They can issue punishment short of excessive torture and execution.

---Sentinel---

Sentinels are the senior officers and secondary leaders among the Highguard. They have proven to be invaluable many times over, and committed to their duties. Each leads their own legion, and manages their troops. They ensure they are equipped, fed, sheltered, and trained. To serve as a Sentinel, it is most likely one will have to serve as a Warden, but it is not a requirement if you are proven. Sentinels have power to issue punishment to criminals in all ways short of excessive torture and execution.

---Warden---

The Secondary officer in the legions. Chosen by the Sentinels, they are tested soldiers who show the needed skills to begin following the path to leadership. They have direct control over Gladewatchers and Initiates, but must act within reason of orders. The rank of Warden is mainly used as a means to test future Sentinels and ready them for their duties.

---Gladewatcher---

The Gladewatcher is the backbone of the Highguard. The Gladewatcher is full trained and fit for combat. they are to handle most civil affairs and labor under the orders of their respective Sentinel. They have full authority to arrest, but not to issue any form of punishment farther than containment until a verdict is reached by a Sentinel or Commander.

---Initiate---

The Initiate is a rank purely used for for training. New soldiers unskilled in the art of war start here. Once they become proficient in two weapons / skills they will be promoted to Gladewatcher.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Silverleaf Steel:

The iron alloy that most Highguard equipment is made of. It is durable and strong. Its easy to sharped while being quite flexible, making in well suited for weaponry. Its cousin, Ebonleaf, which is more suited for armour, is still in develepment.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Highguard shields:

There are four shields available to the Highguard. Three bucklers, and the Servain Shield. The bucklers are available in Light, Reinforced, and Heavy. The Servain Shield is a massive wall meant to turn the user into a walking fortress.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Highguard Arrows:

There are three types of arrows available to Highguard Rangers and Horsemen.

-Standard: balanced for accuracy: range, and power.

-Light-fare: Made for the mounted bowmen of the Highguard. They take accuracy and range over power. Their extreme stremeline shape gives them a edge in such regard.

-Armour piercing: A short range arrow meant to punch a hole in even the greatest armour. The heavy tip gives the arrow a greater weight and deviation, while also giving it the strength to go through iron like butter.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Silverleaf Steel Leafblade Lance:

The elite lance of the Highguard. Information on this weapon is classified. All one must say is not to be in the way of this lance.

Zevandir sees the poster and laughs aloud, before his face clouds with memories.

As he turns to walk away, a faint smattering of mumble can be heard...

"... started the damn PATHFINDERS! And now look at them, Sentinels, Wardens, Highguard, they never change... weak cluster of pathetic fools... should've been left... rot... realm of the Undead."

Emanaf reads the poster, his frown deepening withe every line more.  Finished, he turns away in disgust and stumps off down the path.

He mutters something rather garbled as he goes.

"Pff, Highguard indeed!  Reformed for . . . fancy names . . . plate!  That Mister Rose . . . Sometimes I just can't . .-eve myself.  Highguard, huh."

Medical positions are available for those joining the Highguard. The medic is an auxiliary rank and will not have direct control over anyone. The exception being if a Highguard is unable to perform duties due to a medical condition. A medic can then rule said Highguard (Commanders not included) as such status, and issue orders to prevent any mistakes that may arise from it.

As our numbers increase, we naturally approach the maximum number of units that each legion is formatted for. As such, a new legion is to be added soon. The leader and possible specialization is still under consideration.
