What you perceive as "Complaints" Are actually attempts at fixing the problem they see. It is not a complaint simply because you do not agree with it. I believe several Aegis veterans have made outstanding and in depth posts! Surely that is not complaining! 

I'm aware. I'm not that ignorant as to think other people who don;t agree with me are complaining. And no, making in depth posts is not complaining. Never said it was. However, people who say that things are worse since we left Aegis really aren't helping. But whatever, i'm just going to drop it.

That point could be argued both ways. One could say we changed something that didn't need to be fixed and want the better alternative back.

 

In that case if PvP didn't need to be fixed, then we would have gotten rid of the RP system in the first couple of weeks, aye? Instead why don't we do what racingbrother said?

 

The defender set the terms if it is PvP or Rp. The target sets the terms.

 

I will not deal with PvP default. I don't get why you are trying to implement something that not everyone can /do/[with their particular situation, computer, mouse or Minecraft lag.]. Everyone can write in English, debate, and have a fair outcome if they just learned how to lose. Not everyone can or wants to learn how to click in such a way so that they win a battle, and waste their time trying to remove lag or learn PvP techniques just so they can click multiple times.

Let me re-pharse, not everyone can or wants to get the things needed for PvP, such as better irl computers, mouses, or attempting to fix their minecraft lag just for the purpose of PvP. Not everybody is a computer expert or has money to spend on new stuff, because they want to win with PvP.

Maybe it would have been removed, but maybe there could have just been a lack of will to do it and suffer through another storm of drama?

This is another issue.

 

Not everyone feels they are a good enough roleplayer to properly roleplay combat. They feel pressured to continuously spit out emotes. If they take time to think out their emotes, people accuse them of metagaming and yell at them.

Then poor leadership if so. If you want something done, do it earlier than later. See the massive drama that has been created now? If it were done back then, less people would've argued because less people would have gotten used to it, or started liking it.

In what way? Do you have to remove lag, get a better mouse, learn click strategies, jump about, or any of that to do well in a role-play fight? No, the only thing you might need to fix is one's attitude and learn how to lose once in a while, and be less stubborn about you character winning owo.

When it comes to the mechanics, a lot would change. Please watch yesterdays Livestream, and keep in touch for tomorrows for more info. ^-^

 

When it comes to stubbornness, you can't just shove it in someones face and say deal with it. People will be stubborn, and it must be that way unfortunately, as this is the internet. :\

I would honestly love PvP if the following things are met when the system is introduced:

 

1. When wearing armour you are slowed down. Bring back the plugin - there isn't going to be anymore RP fights so special armors that don't give you any penalty and are as durable as steel aren't really in play.

 

2. Cannot pull armour from your bottom. You can't shift click your armour on before a fight unless you have RP'ed wearing it before. If you are going to RP putting it on, it must not be one emote and you are all set for the fight. (Also, do you just carry your armour on your back?)

 

3. Keep the knockout plugin, and the winner tells the other to /damage 20.

 

4. RP is default for magic users unless an appropriate plugin has been added in to re-place that.

 

5. Items such as fish and brews are not allowed in any PvP fight.

 

6. Make many different changes to MC weapons. There should be at least 3 different types of swords: Daggers, One-Handed Swords, Greatswords. Swords, Axes and Picks (Hammers and other blunt weapons) should all have their own bonuses in PvP such as Swords being faster hitting and axes having more damage on armour and picks giving you slow or blindness. 

 

Other than that, the system would clear up a lot of the headache of a lot of the aspects that make people angry about the server.

 

EDIT: If any of my ideas have already been discussed or solved forgive me for I didn't really have the time to go through 50 pages of comments.

  • If you feel pressured and that you aren't good enough at roleplay, then LEARN to roleplay because this is a roleplay server.
  • And finally learn to be just damn tolerant and nice.

This is Minecraft... And I believe the same thing can be said, but with learning how to PvP. 

 

I really think everyone should just give default PvP a chance. The current system we have now is obviously not working. 

 

And as for this server being a full, "Hardcore Rp" server, I would rather just have it be a server that is more balanced and has a higher quality level. Honestly, just because rp might not be the default way to solve most conflict situations, it's still a rp server.

Let's face it, everyone has a different opinion of what is more likely to happen in a given scenario - especially in combat.

 

Text-based combat is argued about constantly and the ban/strike reports often harbor 10+ screenshots of full chat-log emotes, where GM's are expected to read every line to decipher just what was happening, who was where, and who's at fault.

 

Players end up voiding each-others role-play, argue in local OOC and even grow resentment for one another OOC'ly.

 

Combat via text can be incredibly vivid and unique but in the end it draws a lot of romanticism toward combat and struggle when we could spend our energy having banquets, festivals, tournaments, races, dances, competitions, great hunts and more with the time spent both in these combat scenarios and arguing about them.

 

I like PvP because my OOC fear translates well into IC fear which is exhilarating and I see Minecraft as more of a LARP than a text-based game.

Please read the whole thread before posting exactly what 10-20 RP supports have posted, and read the arguments against them.
