Decision On Nation Mines

Just out of curiosity, since the orcs currently have no nation -- and therefore, no nation leader -- Who will make the decisions required of that position? I'm guessing the leader of the strongest clan?

Most likely, or it could be a battle amongsts the clans on who owns the mines blah blah, that would be good rp.

There better be armor that can be made from Emeralds, Clay ,or Redstone, or humans are going to have a serious problem.

I really wanted that bloody quartz mine.

I don't see how you make armour out of redstone or clay, and I don't believe emeralds for armour either, but Green armor would be awesome :P

Even if the intention is to get people to trade, I can already see ways around this-

Y has a lot of fighting Ores, Y gear up, go to X and demand tribute in food or Y will raid X.

Trying to force roleplay(I.E. You aren't getting these things you want so you need to trade with these people you don't like)  on two nations already in high tensions (I.E. Dwarves/Kha and Humans) sounds like it won't end the war in "Oh my dear sir, I need your goods, well yes, let us stop this bickering and trade such! Good show!" It'll probably go more like- "Yar, I'll just use my goods to raid you and take your goods, thus raising tensions even further((Also QQ))!"

We'll see how this turns out, but I can already see bad things. I mean, we still have the public mines right? With their what, ten veins every 12 hours or so?

And now that I think about it, strangling the economy of all that a nation needs to make war in order to stimulate trade and economy is actually a bad way to go about it. Most IRL economy boosts tend to arise FROM wartime and not without it. I don't agree with the decision entirely, but let's see how things go...

Seeing as Haelun'or is more independent than Malinor I wouldn't mind a small mine being placed there since we would now have no minerals to trade. This could in fact stunt our growth.

I present you a few options;

1: A small amount of quartz and gold

2: Sandstone and 1-2 iron ore (to boost inter-economy between Malinor and Oren)

3: A small amount of quartz and sandstone

4: relative amount of clay, gold, sandstone

5: 2-3 quartz, 2-3 Iron, even split of sandstone/clay

6: Glowstone

I am only asking for staff opinion.

This would not only boost economy for the high elves instead of stunt them but it would give RP jobs for some of Lin'evaral's citizens.

The "respawning" period of mines was changed like... a month ago, give or take a week. It's now MUCH, MUCH shorter although the chances of getting an ore is much smaller.

If humans are going to have a serious problem figuring out a way to obtain iron when they have access to a public iron mine and the ability to trade with and/or infiltrate two iron-rich nations, the humans are going to have a serious problem.

As for the orcish badlands, a true orc probably wouldn't care much about a coal, quartz and sandstone mine. It would simply be a honey-pot in which to kill trespassers or grind slaves. However, I'm certain that orcish players are going to want to own and control the mine for out-of-character reasons, thinly veiled behind questionable in-character reasons, so it'll likely be left for the dominant clans to settle. Quartz would be an interesting resource for shaman rituals, however, so if I were going to claim a mine, I would use some sort of spiritual excuse to make it a holy land, backed by a bunch of meat-heads, armed to the teeth.

To make it fair!  I'm all for these changes, the more challenges Oren has the more fun war is going to be rather than walking into a fight knowing you could defeat every other nation combined.  Let the challenges come and let's just solve it in RP ^^

This literally will just cause another war between the nations. If oil was very limited in the world, what would stop all the nations from going to take it?

Will mining just be break the ore and it'll never show up again? Because I think it'd be cool if the ore turns into cobblestone then respawns an hour later. That way GMs don't need to regen the mines or something. They can just make a cool looking mine, add auto re spawning ores with an hour's way, and leave it. I don't know if it'd work in practice or would provide too much ores a nation could mine easily, but it sounds cool imo.

Skip... buddy... that's how the mines work, lol.

Hand-built+designed mines with pre-placed ores that respawn after a set amount of time.

The mines do have auto-regening ore that does not have to be manually regenerated by GMs.
