  1. In the cold nights of the far north, tensions were brewing A few dozen Skanarri men and women had met in one of the houses of the occupied village of Nueva Tierra. The burnt walls of the surrounding houses offered little to no protection against the freezing winds, but still these few dozen met. All were angry, hurt, even betrayed. It had only been about a year since the Cease Fire had been agreed upon by Norland and the Skanarri, and yet still these few were angry. One of the members present spoke up, his fists balled and resting in his lap. "Making peace with Norland...why in the name of the Gods would Argos do such a thing?" The man stood up, looking around to the others present with a fire in his eyes. "Does he not realize that Norland is weak? Ripe for Conquest? Does he not realize that after the thousands of deaths, there can be no peace?" Some began to nod in agreement, but others were more cautious. Despite his supposed betrayal of his own people, Argos was still a respected and strong leader. The man who had, despite a great many losses, defied Norlandic supremacy over the Northwest. Still...there was a great sense of mistrust among a minority of the combined tribes. That is why they met on this night, to discuss what should be done with their supposedly astray High Chieftain. The man spoke up yet again, addressing the warriors present. "Our people need a leader who is willing to push to the bitter end, not seek resolve with the weak! The Skanarri cannot become the laughing stock of the North!" Now, as he spoke again, more warriors began to nod in agreement. Some looked to each other and muttered words to each other, others looked to the man attentively. It was now that the man withdrew his sword and held it to the sky, the night sky made clear by the holes caused by the burning years ago. And now, he spoke with a fiery confidence as he eyed each and every Skanarri man and woman there. "My name is Grejon the Warrior, I have fought and bled with all of you, and I have witnessed the slow decline of our High Chieftain whom I once called my friend. I was present for the Siege four years ago, and as many of you know, Argos was not present himself. Why do you think that was? I think that Argos has become a Norlandic slave!" Many of the people present began to ball their fists and grit their teeths...was their leader truly becoming what they thought he was? For many, this was too much to bear. "Stand with me, Brothers and Sisters, and help me drive out the man who has betrayed our people!" The people present roared out, many lifting their weapons into the air and chanting out the name of Grejon. The peace in the North is no longer secure.
  2. Henry Bishop has a serious sense of deja vu...he wonders why. "Gott damn it, nicht again."
  3. Henry Bishop sharpens his sword with a whetstone "Well then, Ich suppose mein sword arm will be in use once more. Sedan stands with its Urguani liege."
  4. Henry Bishop slams his fist on the table upon learning of the Duke's coma, wishing he had been capable of being present for his liege.
  5. "Damn good show!" Henry Bishop remarks after remembering the duel that day, proud that Haeseni steel prevailed over the Orenian.
  6. Henry Bishop reflects on the day, remembering how it was He who hung Leon that day at the gallows. On one hand, he felt that he had avenged Igor and given justice. On the other, he felt like he failed in not being there that day Igor was killed to do something more.
  7. Henry Bishop reads the missive from his home within the Duchy of Reinmar, unsure of what to think of the missive. "Knowing how vassal politics play out, Ich am certain there ist going to be some tensions that are caused because of this. Nicht sure between who exactly, but Ich am sure it ist coming."
  8. Members of the combined Sarissan/Rhein forces engage the Rustlers and Red Company The Battle of the Kharasi Oasis Penned by Oisin O'Breathnach Buckfort, Kapitan of the PKS After the villainous acts committed by the Red Company within the Barony of the Rhein, the Count William of Sarissa and the Patriarch Kane of Clan Redfist realized that such a rogue mercenary force could no longer find its home within the walls of Brynrose. After more antagonistic events occurred within our own lands committed by the Red Company, the cowards decided to flee from Sutica rather than face trial for their numerous crimes against Sarissa, The Rhein, and Sutica as a whole. Knowing such injustice could not stand, the combined forces of the PKS, the Rhein, and many brave Suticans joined together within the town of Brynrose to consolidate their numbers and bring the Red Company to justice. Soon after mobilization of this combined army, word was received that the bandit company known as The Rustlers was taking in and supporting the Red Company, and that they had plans to raid the Sutican countryside if not stopped. Knowing such raids would take the lives of hundreds, perhaps thousands of innocent Sutican men and women, the assembled force departed from Sarissa and marched to engage the Rustlers in open battle. Though the reputation of the Rustlers sewed worry in the minds of some, many others were determined to crush any incursion into their homeland that they were willing to give their lives for. As the combined army marched onwards, the joint Rustler-Red Company army came into view. They had decided to face us upon the field of battle rather than retreat into the mountains, and had their force situated just across from ours at the sandy desert just beyond the city of Osanora. Knowing such terrain was perfect for a battle, our forces lined up across from theirs and awaited the signal to attack. Minutes went by, adrenaline began to fill the veins of the brave Sutican men, and the order to charge was given. As we rushed forth to engage the enemy, we were surprised to see that the foe had not turned and ran for better ground, but instead counter-charged and clashed with the Sutican army! The sound of armored bodies crashing into one another, the clanging of steel, the whistle of arrows flying by, and the war cries of men was all that could be heard on the battlefield that day. After the initial clash had subsided and the foe had withdrawn to try and bait our army into better ground, the PKS and Rhein forces held back and instead chose a defensive position situated within the bone structure which provided a capable defense from arrow fire and was hard to charge into. For many saint's minutes, the battle raged on. Many of the Rustlers took up ranged weaponry to try and whittle down our numbers, only to be ran off time and time again. Almost twenty saint's minutes since the battle had began, the Rustler numbers were slowly being cut away and their forces beginning to splinter. In order to take decisive action on the field, a second charge was ordered where many of the Rustlers were driven back towards the gates and walls of Osanora, where many of the remaining Rustlers were cut down. The survivors fled to the sea, and withdrew from the battle entirely. The Battle of the Kharasi Oasis had been decisively won by the combined forces of Sarissa and the Rhein! Let this be a warning to all who would wish to question the determination of the vassal-states of Sutica to protect their homeland. Hundreds gave their lives to protect Sutica, and hundreds more shall continue to do so in the name of GOD and the Monarchs of Sutica!
  9. Henry Bishop wipes away a tear of pride as he reads the missive, remembering meeting the young Prinzenas when she was just five years old "They grow up so fast..."
  10. Argos grumbled at the sight of his defeated warriors returning home from battle. The sound of the cold northern winds was all that was heard as he watched his battle scarred men walk into the village. They would be met with nothing but silence. There were no cheers, no tears of relief, nothing. it was pure silence. "This...cannot stand." Argos muttered to himself. "This war has been fought to a near stalemate. There must be a way to break this." The aging chieftain sighed as he walked into the ruined house he had claimed for himself. Just a few stone hours later, a missive found its way to the halls of the Throne room, it read as follows: A Message to King Sven and the Norlandic council, My name is High Chieftain Argos, leader of the men you call "Savages". I would like to begin by saying one of your Norlandic friends was very...kind to write this for me. Fear not, following the delivery of this message to you, they will be released in good order back to the stinking shithole you call a capital. Either way, I wanted to send you this message not as a warning, but as an offer of peace. I have seen how our men tear each other apart on the battlefield, and I must admit over the course of our fighting you lot have earned my respect. I see that there are many ways our two peoples can live without the total annihilation of the other. The very kind Norlandic writer will include below my terms for an end to the fighting between my people and yours. 1. Norland shall relinquish claims over the ruined village and surrounding lands leading up to the patch of farmland south of the village, this village being what your captured scouts have referred to as "Nueva Tierra." 2. My people and the Kingdom of Norland will enter into a trade pact, the specifics can be discussed at a later date 3. Norland will cease scouting the lands surrounding "Nueva Tierra" and my people will cease raiding the lands south of the aforementioned village 4. Norland and my people will agree to mutual recognition of sovereignty over our lands 5. My people will give a full apology for all damage caused to the people of Norland 6. Norland and my people will agree to a mass body exchange of all fallen warriors slain by either side. I send these terms to the King's Council in good faith that the right decision will be made, lest more blood must be spilt at the hands of our warriors. I expect your response within the next ten stone hours. A rather sloppy signature could be seen on the paper Argos, chIef of SkanarrI
  11. "Ich wonder if the Rustlers are technically rebelling against Vortice, seeing as they are occupying ein Vortice fort, or if they are simply ein bandit group occupying it. Either way, this whole conflict has been interesting." Henry said to his cousin Luka Bishop (@ArizonaRanger) as he watched his daughter play in the rose bushes near Reinmar.
  12. "Ionian, du are drunk. Go back to beating der kids." Commented the deceased Fynn Mackensen to his cousin in the Seven Skies.
  13. The March to the Sea The sounds of weaponry being sharpened and distributed was heard throughout the village of Nueva Tierra, the new Capital of the Skanarri tribes. High Chieftain Argos walked about the village as he usually did, examining the state of his tribal forces. Before long, his long time friend Grejon approached him with a broad smile upon his face. "What news do ye bring, my old friend?" Argos asked as Grejon drew nearer, extending his arm to the man. Grejon took Argos' hand and went to put his arm around his shoulder, the pair walking around the village as Grejon began to speak "We've built three Catapults and a battering ram, we should be ready to attack Varhelm within the next few months." "We aren't going to attack Varhelm yet." The old Chieftain said calmly, prompting Grejon to stop in his tracks "What do ye mean? Are we not here teh take Norland by storm?" The Skanarri questioned, turning to face Argos "If we don't strike Varhelm, where do we strike then?" Argos laughed as he began to walk to the east side of the village, then raising his hand and pointing outwards towards the snow covered hills. "Just a mile to our east lies a castle of Stone, it sits right above the middle of the road between Elysium and Varhelm. I want ye teh take a hundred and fifty men in a warband and take the castle by storm. If ye are successful, we will have access teh Norlandic trade routes and the sea, meaning we can finally contest Norlandic naval dominance." Grejon said nothing for a moment, letting Argos' plan settle in his mind before nodding "I understand, I'll move out within a month or two." After speaking, Grejon turned and went into the village to begin the assembly of a warband capable of taking the Norlandic castle. The sound of cheers and warcries could be heard afterwards, and Argos knew that this battle would be one of the most important during the early stages of the war in the North. If his tribal army was victorious, it would pave the way for a Skanarri victory. If the Norlandic forces were victorious, he knew he would need to prepare for the defense of Nueva Tierra. Either way, Argos knew in his mind as well as all other Skanarri, The March to the Sea had began. OOC: The Event is set to take place on Friday 25th, 3:00 PM EST. This time is negotiable if necessary via contacting Javert#3430 Resources used: 5 Coal tokens, 5 Weapon tokens, 5 Food tokens equivalent to 150 items per resource. 14. Event General Rules With the size of the Skanarri eventline and the amount of management that is necessary to make sure the Event goes smoothly, the leaders of Norland and the Skanarri event team have created a list of general rules that both Norland and the Skanarri must follow throughout the entirety of the eventline. Credit to @Qaz_The_Great for the idea of establishing event rules and creating most of the rules seen below. A Camp is a temporary location which IRP allows a group to have supplies so long as the routes to its supporting hub are uncontested. To contest a Camp requires both the Norlandic and Skanarri to agree on a date to host a raid, and that a forum post be published by the attackers outlining raid intent: There are four types of raid intents: Capture - Take control of an enemy camp, the target is the individual who the group is attempting to capture Destroy - Destroy the enemy camp, the target is the whole camp and all occupants Isolate - Cut off all logistical routes to an enemy camp, the target is the gates and logistical routes Pillage - Claim the resources of the opposing side from the camp, the target is the storehouse The structure of a Camp at minimum requires a storehouse to hold the Resource Tokens and resting areas. A Hub is an established location which IRP acts as a logistical hub where camps pull their supplies from. To contest a Hub requires both the Norlandic and Skanarri to agree on a date to host a siege, and that a forum post be published by the attackers outlining intent: There are three types of siege intents: Capture - Capture an RO/PRO or the defending commander as hostage; the target is the individual who the group is attempting to capture Isolate - Cut off all logistical routes to an enemy camp; the target is the gates and logistical routes Pillage - Claim the ⅓ of the enemies resources within the Hub; the target is the storehouse The structure of a Hub at minimum requires a hard stone structure, walls, and a storehouse to hold the Resource Tokens. Both sides start with a number of resources: There are four types of Resource Tokens - food, shelter, arms, and coal Food - Any food stuff, represented by wheat, which is a single day worth of rations for a single soldier Shelter - Any tent or building, represented in game by structures, which is a place where soldiers may rest and plan if they remain in the same location for more than a day Arms - Any arms and armor, represented by a ferrum ingot, which is a full set of armor and weapons for a single soldier Coal - Any coal/charcoal product, represented by coal/charcoal, which is a fuel to maintain Skanarri Camps/Hub are considered Nueva Tierra (Manned) Norlandic Camps/Hubs are considered Varhelm (Manned) Elysium (Manned) Luemont (Manned) Ironguard Keep (Manned) Lunner Keep (Unmanned) Captured Players, in accordance with good spirit and decency there will be no torture RP unless it is 100% agreed upon and consensual and captured players will be held in accordance to the server’s 3hr limit so long as they continue to get sufficient roleplay. Event Movement Rules Skanarri units have 3 unit structures - Scouting Party, Raiding Party, and the Skanarri Warband (S) Scouting Party - 3 to 20 Soldiers (M) Raiding Party - 21 to 100 Soldiers (L) The Skanarri Warband - 101 to 500 Soldiers Norlandic units have 3 unit structures - Ranging Party, Skirmisher Company, and the Norlandic Host (S) Ranging Party - 5 to 20 Soldier (M) Skirmisher Company - 21 to 50 Soldiers (L) The Norlandic Host - 51 to 500 Soldiers Movement of Forces is any movement of 3+ enemy units so as to achieve a goal in the conflict; players who move around the map are authorized to do so as long as they do not transport supplies or move around so as to position themselves for any goals in the war. All movement of supplies or troops must be made clear to the event leader. Movements of the Scouting and Ranging Parties require one (1) Food Token and one (1) Arms Token per tile movement. Movements of the Raiding Party and Skirmisher Company require three (3) Food Tokens, one (1) Arms Token, and three (3) Coal Tokens per tile movement. Movements of the Skanarri Warband and Norlandic Host require five (5) of each token and a sheltered structure to stop their movement at per tile movement. Supply Movement is any movement of supplies from a hub to a camp, or a hub to a hub. Each side must support themselves via logistical routes between hubs and camps. These Supply Movements will occur twice per week at minimum, adding a supply movement per camp owned (i.e. 2 + Number of Camps = required Supply Movements/week). A supply movement is a scheduled event where either a small or middling unit transports a sum of Resource Tokens in /walk along a supply route. Opposition small or middling units may raid these routes. Event Combat Rules Combat is initiated when two opposing units clash and any number of either side directly attacks the other. Initiative is the order in which two sides take turns during combat. Emote Round is the complete cycle where each side has taken their own turn, once an Emote Round concludes the turn order is repeated until the end of combat. Single Turn is measured by 2 OOC minute where each player on one side is allowed to emote and move. At the end of the minute the event runner will react to all actions taken before ending the turn. When engaging in combat there are three ways to determine initiative: 1. Equal Engagement - Any time two units knowingly engage each other with the intent to defend or attack. Initiative in this type of engagement is determined by chance, with each side’s leader rolling 1d20 against each other. The side who rolls highest may choose to go first or last. 2. Surprise Engagement - Any time a unit is unknowingly engaged without knowing an engagement was to occur. Initiative in this type of engagement is granted to the attacker 3. Siege/Raid Engagement - Any time an attacking unit attempts to Siege or Raid a Hub or Camp the defenders will have guards posted who can report any attackers. The defenders roll 2d20 if it is a Camp and 4d20 if it is a Hub, the attackers roll 1d20. The side who rolls highest may choose to go first or last. Attack is any offensive action taken on an individual’s turn. An attack must be directed at a specific player or point in-game. Attackers will roll 1d20, to succeed an attack you must beat the Defender’s roll. Defense is the reaction taken against an attack. A defense must be in reaction to an attacker(s). Defenders will roll 1d20, to succeed an attack you must beat the Attacker’s roll. A defensive action can be taken as an action during that player’s turn to gain advantage on any defensive rolls until the next Emote Round. If there are any questions or concerns regarding the rules above, contact Javert#3430 or Qaz#6969 on discord.
  15. The Northern March "It's began." Argos thought aloud as he stood atop the hill overlooking the ruined village of Nueva Tierra. He watched as his tribesmen began to pour into the village by the hundreds, making themselves comfortable in the empty streets and abandoned homes of the once lively village. A cold northern breeze swept over the tribal force, sending a shiver down Argos' spine. It had only been a Stone day ago that his people acted without his consent and had attacked Elysium. The old man grumbled under his breath as he continued to look down at the village. "We should have waited, damn it." Argos muttered as he held his hands behind his back, his breath visible in the cold lands his people called home. "Now we have no choice...the time has come teh begin my plans earlier than I had hoped, and all because a few of my warriors acted brashly." The man sighed as he went to descend the hill, entering the village calmly. The overall demeanor of the tribal army seemed to be light-hearted and hopeful, though Argos himself remained cold and frustrated. As he strode through the village now occupied by his army, he couldn't help but feel a sense of regret. Regret that he had not anticipated the brashness of his own tribesmen, and regret that he himself was not ready to carry out his plans sooner. Argos made his way towards one of the larger buildings and stopped to look at the sign. "Royal residence, eh? Never thought this village could house more than some farmers." The old man jested to himself, continuing to carry on down the road now populated by his warriors. He could hear them cheer as he walked about, though inside he knew that their cheers would die down one way or another, for he knew; The War in the North had just began. OOC: This is a player-ran event hosted primarily by myself and @youknowwhoiam. If you have any questions regarding this event, feel free to reach out to us on discord via Javert#3430 or youknowwho#9098. This is our first major eventline we've hosted on this scale before, so we hope you all enjoy!
  16. Hali Olavsson Kvitravn thanks the All-Father he left Nyrheim just in time to miss this.
  17. Lair PRO MC Name: RagnarAKAJavvy Lair Name: Ikarusbrug Proposed Lair Locations (Highlight 3 on the map): Lair Lore (could link to an existing creature or other lore) (1000 words minimum): https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/201253-culture-the-skanarri/?tab=comments#comment-1837743 Lair Build and Infrastructure (photos required): Why can you not accomplish the niche of this lair’s roleplay in an existing settlement or nation? (We expect a substantial answer for this, not just ‘I don’t like them’). Culturally and historically, the people of the Skanarri tribes have been isolationists who prefer to live among their own in the colder lands of the North. For the Skanarri, intermingling with other nations is unacceptable and can even have one ousted from the Tribe completely. Given their history with the northern Nations, having had a rocky relationship with Norland and being unfriendly towards Haense, it is highly unlikely they would ever consider living under them. As for the other southern kingdoms, the Skanarri have either no knowledge of them or no intention of leaving the cold biomes that they call home. All in all, the Skanarri are too Isolationist, too proud, and too unwilling to cooperate with other nearby nations and it would make no sense for them to try and intermingle with said places. What does this lair add to the greater world around them?: This lair would add the possibility of consistent frontier RP. Unlike most tent towns and cities which are often used as temporary warcamps, the Skanarri use their tent cities as their place to thrive and grow as an individual community. It is the way of the Skanarri people to try and make their living in such tent cities as it has been for the entirety of their existence. As a result, this particular tent city can add a good amount of frontier RP alongside a tribal and sort of barbaric feel. Edit: Made the font color white for ease of reading.
  18. "Well ****, looks like I'm missing out on all the fun!" A certain Sedanian-Haeseni would mutter upon reading the missive. Not long after, he'd make preparations to visit his old comrades.
  19. Hali Kvitravn, Chieftain of the Kvitravn Clan, decides that he shall bring his bannermen, friends, and family to this feast!
  20. Hali Kvitravn inhales deeply... "YOOOOOO THATS MEH BOY ABBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH!"
  21. The sounds of battle rung throughout the complex tunnel system of the City-State of Luciensburg. Just a few Saint's Hours ago, Vicente had been tasked with leading a vanguard of 300 Hyspian soldiers into the City to provide military aid against the onslaught of seemingly endless Ratfolk hordes. He and his men descended into the depths of Luciensburg, followed by the forces of Yong Ping and the native Luciensburg guardsmen. To say the tunnels were unnerving would do the Undercity of Luciensburg an injustice, the tight spaces and repulsive smell began to make Vicente wonder why he had come in the first place. Regardless, he led his detachment of soldiers deeper and deeper into the Undercity, determined to help root out the vermin once and for all. With his sword in hand and his Hyspian Brothers at his back, he pushed onwards. In his mind he thought, "What sort of monstrous creatures could bear to live in such a place as this? What sort of hell-spawn could even stand such conditions?" Vicente soon had his answer as his detachment and the two accompanying forces made their way into a remote yet surprisingly well-lit hallway. He lofted a brow and took a moment to look around; He saw no ratfolk nor any sort of traps, nothing except an iron gateway before the combined army. To Vicente's surprise, the gate opened mere moments later and a horde of the disease-carrying vermin came charging towards the Descendant army. A mere saint's hour later as the battle in the Undercity came to a bloody close, Vicente was found lying dead on the cold stone floor of the tunnelway. His Hyspian brothers were able to recover his body soon after, and it was soon brought to the City of Osanora where it awaits for whatever his family wishes to be done with it. In the meantime, a multitude of letters are sent around to friends and family of the fallen Murietta. Carlos Cesar II Esmeralda OOC: Yo, thank you all for giving me an enjoyable experience as this persona. I'm not going to lie, I made some really great memories as this character and I hope some of you did as well. I'm looking forward to continuing to make more memories with all of you, whether it's with my next character or the one after that. Thank you all.
  22. Hali Kvitravn remembers the time he killed a member of the MRA on top of a hill near Elysium. He thought to himself, upon reading the missive, how much harm that man could've done if he had let him walk another day. "Oi did meh duteh teh Norland by killin' that scum...and oi'll continue teh do so."
