  1. how have you balanced playing a spook and NL on the same character for so long?
  2. I prefer past tense because it reads like a story or a retelling of one's actions. Adds to the immersion
  3. this trope is a bit saturated rn i will warn you
  4. An aheral renders a wry smile.
  5. "Everything is rational, old man. If one doesn't seek to comprehend the incomprehensible, you are doomed to uselessness." There was no way Sarrion would hear this, a certain friend of his just did the normal forum copium.
  6. A Celian high elf frowns, ever-aware of that metallic leg which replaced the limb he had lost defending his Amathaean allies at Dawnhold, ever-feeling the exhaustion of voidal energy which had almost rended his flesh from him from Thaumburn at Amathaea. He does not understand why the Amathaeans would approve of such dismissal of himself and his people, despite those actions. But he shrugged - his actions would not change, he would continue to protect his nation's allies, with the Princess Valyris leading him into battle.
  7. IMO an ice spell which freezes a wound in order to stop it bleeding alike cauterize sounds like a neat addition, though i could see complaints about niches overlapping between the magics
  8. I'd say keep the niche of healing within things like alchemy and paladinism, healing waters seems a bit too thematically 'nice' for magic which comes from the evil dimension (and theme does matter with these types of things)
  9. so i'll try to leave some actual feedback on the write to steer this thread in a diff direction The concept as a whole is pretty cool, though the existence of a conjuration atronach is a little asynchronous with the theming of evocations as the primary atronach types (except telekinetic, which is kind of a stupid type anyways imo) That said, this write could definitely use some fleshing out, stuff like this spell needs a lot more redlines on it stating like the extent to which things can be thrown (I can see ppl powergaming that since they can lift 450lbs they'd be able to essentially chuck a 150lb human with this) and this spell is just too strong in general, 3 emotes to lift 450lbs is rather ridiculous, and no range is specified, etc. and this seems to be the main ability of this creature so it surely would need some specificity in its use. Overall the idea is interesting but I think it could use some more fleshing out before adding it is debated
  10. I really like how practical and thought-out the this piece is, though I think it's a little on the strong side in its current state. That said, I think this could benefit from a little more flavor or cool interactions with other magics just so this isn't 'A voidal mages can shoot lightning now' thing
  11. An elven magi was pondering his orb when he received such a communication, the information instantly transmitted throughout the recesses of his brain. In haste he completed the instructions given, and gave a proper response in wizarding fashion: "Wizard Artenin, your theories regarding the displacement of magic practices are quite interesting... If I must give my own input, it would be precisely this: viewing mana as you do as an arcane-potential of change, we must not find ourselves surprised when the world, when reality as we indeed know it, is rewritten or unwritten. We already know from the active practices of Illusion that the mind is a suitable target for the reality-changing properties of mana, though past arts which acted upon this have been erased as if by the universe itself in the ways you describe. So instead it is perhaps best to concede that descendant magi cannot possibly comprehend the extent of how mana can be used - indeed our uses of it cripple the mind and body for just slivers of environmental effect- and yet of beings greater we see great feats of mana-manipulation that descendant-kind could never approach. So I propose this: There is a being or beings - perhaps of the void itself, or perhaps simply existing outside of common knowledge or understanding - beings of great mana-potential, or perhaps just a body of mana-potential itself that acts in response to the events and actions taken by descendant-kind - perhaps they act as arbiters or balance-makers. Perhaps their goals are beyond our understanding. Perhaps the magi of this world are governed, or perhaps the loss of magics is arbitrary. I cannot immediately dismiss your concept that the void rejects in some way certain magics used, but I would cast doubt upon the concept that the void depletes. Something so vast and beyond our understanding should not be defaultly estimated to be weak or dwindling - such is a naive position to take. Thank you for bringing such a theory to my attention, there will be many nights of pondering fueled by this. -L.C."
  12. the way that this thread shows a clear divide based off of which mineman war side each poster is on makes me legitimately sick to the stomach
  13. An elf with no relation to the situation sees the stack of missives coming from the nation of Aaun upon his desk. He reflects on the news from the warfront, and shakes his head in confusion at the sheer quantity of missives being sent out. "I hope they are paying their scribes well, at least.. why do they bother writing so much without further battle?"
  14. @Sailor@VoxyNoir@Orlanth@MeteorDragon@Cepheid@Laeonathan You are all incredibly kind and caring individuals... thank you for carrying this noob to the height of things, that debt will be repaid in the future.
  15. personally im pretty new to shadow wizard money gang rp and i feel like the lore gives you A LOT of breathing room to do whatever tf u want creatively, the problem i find is that not many magic rpers are particularly interested in doing lots of crazy shit with voidal magics on the level of dark/diety magic users, idk what the exact cause of this is but yea edit: to add on to that i dont think it's a reasonable expectation for ST to be the ones making your magic exciting for you it comes down to the player at some point and it's hard to point out an area of voidal magic that is definitively lacking in terms of lore/possibilities
  16. This will be a significant nerf to the one person this applies to (people shouldn't be allowed to have fun)
