  1. the trick is you actually need to build tension so nasty it genuinely unnerves the players ooc to actually have any response irp, gotta do metagame fear techniques to get responses out that are realistic.
  2. A simple figure in Du Loc hides within the rubble of the capital, the beastial shadow flies in the moon-light. Its' wings outstretched, akin to an accursed butterfly. He wraps himself in the charred blanket, attempting to warm himself from the elements as he rocks in place. The Moth Man is not dead, the Moth Man is not dead, the Moth Man is not dead.
  3. Within the Hidden Oasis, missives and declarations bustle from various Bazaars and people who travel to the South. The city amongst the sand, the society of the Brotherhood of Brev festers within the sharp winds that bellow beyond the descendant’s reach. The rumors and talks about the culmination against the Azdrazi threat are made apparent by the alliances and declarations that spew forth from these nations. A single figure grunts as he walks through the Bazaar, reading over it as the foreign tongue of the former ‘Faizian caliphates merge with their own distinct dialect around them. The scents of fried lizard, spices and dirt intertwine with the fire that brews within the outskirts of the markets, from the metal refineries that spread themselves around. “For the Cloud-Splitter has caused us issues, they declare upon a threat much greater. They know not what they do, for what can protect them from divinity itself.” The small translated missive is scrunched in his hand, discarded as he walks deeper into the city.
  4. This Lore has been Denied. Thank you for submitting this, though the team does not believe that a magic to justify screenshots and pictures is necessary for LotC. We believe people can do the painting magic without magic or having to learn it at all.
  5. The Event Team Recruitment Drive - Hey, your favourite multi-team admin lead who will become the Lord of the Craft here, I know this is quite soon after my last ‘recruitment’ post. But the response gathered from that has made me really want to use it again to ask the server itself for new people who are focused on Events to join the team. I am looking for people who will collaborate, help projects and otherwise develop storylines that help contribute to larger narratives. I want people who are ground-breakers and want to do more than run of the mill bounty events, I want people who want to help grow the world with me and breathe life into it. I want people interested in helping, planning and collaborating in making these events work and giving a very high standard of roleplay to transfer across the server. I do not want people who simply want to just do DIY events with perms, I want people who want to help craft stories that players will take about for months and years after, stand-out pillars of engagement that will keep the players entertained. This is an opportunity to really see another side of the server that the players do not see or understand much, but the ability to be able to influence and create the charm that makes LotC so appealing to people. Other ‘Lore’ duties and things can be pursued later, but I am calling upon the skilled roleplayers and innovators of the server who want to extend their talents to more than their own playerbases to apply. I will be veryopen and not too critical in recruitment, (which is a difference from usual), I want to get the people with the best potential possible and I ask you all to please apply if you have any interest in this. https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/forum/1194-story/
  6. This lore has been denied. Mani submissions are currently no longer being considered given the mundane and easy nature of them, and thus we recommend making a cultural post for them which you are fully welcome to write upon. Have a great day!

  12. This lore has been denied. You will be sent a forum PM regarding the reasons for denial within the next 24 hours.
  13. The void has been given so many opportunities to be expanded in certain ways, but the players refuse to replay it as anything else. You can play a wizard so fucking easily with voidal magic but no-one wants to break the norm and roleplay aesthetics that aren't spoonfed to them in the lore post. The normal wizard should not be messing with insane eldritch powers or acknowledge them above as they exist. It's a font of power that has long lasting consequences, but only if people decide to let's say. Put entire cities up in the air floating. The amount of actual involvement with what voidal influence and "peering" into the void can be should be genuinely only seen by like one or two mages that take those steps to go down the route of insanity. Nothing is stopping Gandalf larpers at all, if anything, magic is in its best state for the amount of versatility and paths you can ultimately take. It's more on the players completely, I believe players are simply too uninspired to try any magical aesthetic that is beyond the "I will gain all power." Can't blame the lore at all, when the mage themself has to willingly delve into that very heavily to realise the font of power they draw from. If you think of it as the warp from 40k, void mages should be using the warps power like how orcs think and do shit without knowing there's a greater power to it. Not having everyone be a psyker tier warp delver
  14. why is this just basically void magic but taking the weaknesses out and having the alchemy language be it's base. I don't get it, I absolutely just don't understand why. The eldritch horror subtype of the void is completely avoidable with good teaching
  15. Discord isn't a valid medium for roleplay, which I will repeat once again. Doesn't matter if we can't see what they said on discord, they are actually not allowed to use discord as a way to communicate in roleplay
  16. Messages require exact time-stamps and Admin/Tech intervention to keep track of. It's an unsustainable system, and discord roleplay is currently invalid so meta-gaming through that will lead to a ban, either way.
  17. Your View - The Removal of Birds Hello, on behalf of the Administration I write this post to try and get the opinions of the use of “Birds” and their contribution to roleplay. They are a controversial mechanic in LotC that is at the forefront of meta-gaming issues within conflict situations and have been since they were introduced. The ability of the infinite, teleporting super-sonic bird that can get to anywhere and everywhere with the information necessary, which breaks the flow of roleplay and creates issues that dispel the dynamism of LotC as a whole. My own suggestion, with advice of the moderation and some refining would be along the lines of this. - To ban the use of /msg as an in-game medium way to message other players about information that is In-Character. Specifically, surrounding any conflict situations. I believe that the Mali-Rally plugin has alternative methods where this can be approached in roleplay. The notes plugin that has been introduced recently can be used for characters to talk to one another when offline, allowing for the meeting and arrangement of roleplay if necessary. This also allows for us to include authentic couriers for say, nations organising treaties or ransoms being made from bandits. There are many nuances surrounding this issue, but the main idea is to allow conflict to be organic and insular, where people cannot pull parties that should not be able to, to participate in it. We want to give power to the roleplayer, while being able to disarm those that try to use OOC methods to discredit the flow of roleplay. This post is an open discussion and something we want the community to evaluate as a whole. This is so that if the response is positive, we are able to draft a system of banning /msg for IC interactions that works well and is accepted in the community. If it goes horribly, nothing else we can do but bin the idea. - ScreamingDingo
  18. i don't need event people they're self-sufficient hunter gatherers my lore team are currently eating rotten berries and dying by the hour
  19. Hey, ScreamingDingo here. I know I have been quiet since my promotion to admin regarding the team and that’s mainly because our work is staying relatively the same. The Event Sect is starting to flourish but we’re finding a lot of issues with our manpower of the Lore Sect in regards to a variety of issues. I will formally open up our recruitment to the Lore Sect of the Team and explain a few things about this position that confuse a lot, but I will try to have cleared up. We are not looking for writers specifically, the majority of the lore sect does not actually write lore but instead looks to improve systems and actively balance magic. We are looking for people with a keen eye and an open mind to help us get through quite a few projects we have piling up. These mainly surround overturning the former ‘Lore Admin’s’ Criteria for submissions and clearing it up to better reflect the team, they are archaic in nature and need to be modernised for the direction we are taking the server as a while. Other than that, we urgently need people to help us review lore, it becomes an issue when our turn-around starts to drop because we only get three or four votes per piece, per week and then have to try and compile a cohesive feedback section with the members that are pulling the team upon its back. You don’t need to be insanely sound on all the ‘deep-lore’ of the server to do this, fresh ideas and perspectives are something we do need on the team and are something I’ve realised we have lacked cohesively for a bit. All we need are just keen eyes, and a willing motivation to do some paperwork for a bit of cheeky pex and the infamous green tag. [If you feel like you would normally not be seen as a magical ‘lore’ person, you should apply if you have an open mind to learning the mess that is the Lord of the Craft Lore.] SO, THE STORY TEAM ARE RECRUITING LORE STAFF TO HELP US STABILISE THE TEAM AND BRING IT BACK TO ITS USUAL, PRODUCTIVE SELF. Ensure to apply using this link and following the application process: https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/forum/1194-story/ SIDE NOTE FOR THE MOMENT, SELF-TEACH ALTARS FOR THE VOIDAL EVOCATIONS WILL BE PUT ON HOLD WITH THE LACK OF MANPOWER WE HAVE TO RUN THEM PROPERLY, AND THE POTENTIAL REWRITING OF THEIR LORES AND THE EXPLORATION OF THEIR ‘EFFECTIVENESS’. (WE’RE ESSENTIALLY GOING TO BE BRAIN-TANKING, THINKING HOW TO MAKE THE TEACHING PROCESS MORE EFFECTIVE)
  20. Fantastic to see this happening so soon!
