@Diogen That's a case where they were confronted with the proof, knew what happened and then chose to side with them anyway rather then accept it. In that case, yeah they're just as bad. This is flooding the wall so I'm not going to continue the discussion (edit:) unless you want to talk on Discord or something about it. I'm 100% on your side here, I'm just urging that people use caution since some people he knew are likely being fed a completely different version of events and need to be deconditioned if they're being manipulated and weaponized.

Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure there's a rule where they're not supposed to communicate with a player that is issued a ban such as this or they can face a temporary suspension themselves for it. Unclear if they removed that policy or if it's still in place.

@MunaZaldrizoti The stories I have pale in comparison to this particular case and only serve as a reminder to the amount of lies and manipulation that has been and is still abundant in this community. On that note, no one would believe me because I have no evidence to substantiate it beyond what I witnessed or experienced.

Honestly, there's really no point in continuing this discussion because it seems apparent that some people here are going to just blindly witch hunt anyone who's being manipulated or gaslit into defending a creep and then attack someone for stating the obvious here.

If someone defends a creep like him, speak to them first and try to convince them otherwise instead of just getting angry and emotional. You might not know it but this is EXACTLY what they want you to do, sociopaths and psychopaths want you to get emotional and mad because then you're easier to manipulate and far more vulnerable.

I've seen this practice performed practically every other week on this server when I was active, mostly by former NL's that I won't name but have also seen heavy insinuation that creeps do this far more.

 

@UnBaed I agree what they did is horrendous, I'm not defending them. I'm saying that people are prone to being manipulated. Whatever he did, he can lie and gaslight to deflect it. There's always the possibility that they're bad too and are defending him to deflect but just automatically making that assumption and then saying they must be witch hunted and burnt at the stake is just a bad take.

If they're being manipulated, gaslit, etc.. They're victims as well and just don't know it yet. This is a complex issue and is more then just an "us VS them" issue. IE, if you look at real life cults and groups of people abused by people like this then you can't exactly fault them if they are being manipulated into defending him.

@UnBaed Let's not witch hunt an entire lot of players in a private discord because of hurt feelings, yeah? He did bad things, he got banned and won't ever be unbanned. If certain bad actors want to defend what they did, that's on them.

Collectivizing an entire clique based on the actions of a single bad actor is a great way to implode an entire community. 

Sure, you can make whatever judgement you want against the individual players that might defend them but ultimately you need to realize that it's easy to tribalize. There's a good probability that the people defending this person are just looking at things through rose colored lenses and refusing to see things clearly. IE, they don't have a grasp on the full picture and believe his version of events over the presented one due to being friends.

I can give you a dozen stories where people in leadership on LoTC have done horrendous crap and have been allowed to keep playing, haven't been banned or even shunned. There are proven stories where the VICTIMS are shunned instead, lied about and then mistreated by the abusers in an effort to greenlight the bad faith interactions done to them.

Anyone who's smart would know not to start e-girl drama with the rat queen.

What is this nonsense about the CMU? They haven't done anything, they're all banned or have stopped playing on the server because you're all toxic man-children that would prefer to Doxx people.

Edit: Also, if they ban Narthok for that then they better ban half of Oren's leadership. The entire Norlandic old-clique (you, Lion and me included) and the entirety of Savoy's original leadership. This guy had snuck into our VC's on at least a dozen occasions just to chill and talk with everyone. Like, if I were to make a list of people "voldemort" has likely spoken to about LoTC or other things relating to it in the last two years it would probably be atleast 50+ old players. Lmao

 

@rukio Can we all just get the old gang back together and go back to playing Valheim or some MMO? Also, I'm aware now. Narthok told me he was banned for literally just talking to "He who shall not be named.TM" about LoTC. 

When I see issues like this happen I find it AMAZING that this server hasn't been taken down by some spiteful hacker group. The admins really don't seem to understand that the people they seem to hate so much really don't care about this server anymore. The last thing they want to do is give anyone with bad intentions an excuse to go back, because if they look back at this server it's going to be with hideous intent.
