  1. "Pretty words, but they are little more than just words," Olórin Telemnar uttered between puffs from his pipe, reading the missive from the comfort of his study. "Ultimately, actions speak louder. I do not believe harmony among elves is impossible, but it is certainly not achieveable via the solutions we at present pursue. Our ideals contrast drastically; some seek a commonwealth where others seek absolute rule. And many more would go so far as to fabricate their hospitality in an effort to sustain their dying lands... "Unless we, the children of Malin, adapt to some form of common ground, I fear we are doomed to repeat the same cycle."

  3. I never imagined anyone would touch upon Aeriel or something remotely similar to the Ascended ever again. I will admit that I had hoped no one would try to revamp the magic and would otherwise leave it to rest. But this is a different flavour of lore compared to what we former members of the Ascended used to run by, and that is probably for the best. There is a lack of depth in some places, though I would say that is mostly due to the fact this is a new submission. In comparison, the previous lore had years to develop and many different contributors who came and went. Also, I will always prefer the old fire aesthetic, but water is not a bad alternative either, given the overuse of flames in general by various deity magics. Overall, I feel indifferent on handing a verdict either way, but I wish you luck all the same.
  4. Olórin Telemnar, smoking solitarily, read through the missive with firm intrigue. "A harsh statement to make, Vytrek. But I suppose the truth has a tendency to be unforgiving."
  5. "Stern and straight to the point. The so-called 'Imperial Elves' continue to draw targets on their backs," Olórin Telemnar commented, as he read the proclamation.

  7. Jokes aside, a good channel I'd recommend (if you're interested in Warhammer 40K lore) would be 40K Theories. They have a playlist specifically geared towards newcomers that summarises the factions and the lore which spans roughly 10,000 years overall. Although some would consider it too expansive, 40K's size actually makes it somewhat easy to get into. There's no one place you need to settle down in order to understand the broader story and you can easily backtrack for context. However, if you'd like to really start at the beginning,(if you ever get the time) I'd recommend the 'Horus Heresy' series and the 'Siege of Terra' series. The books offer an insight into the character of the Emperor, provide a good introduction to the original eighteen space marines legions (along with their Primarchs) and will help you understand references scattered about 40K lore.

    TRIUMPH

"So the despot wears a crown upon his head..." Olórin Telemnar commented, gaze bearing down from his coast side home upon the neglected, silent dockland. "If we folk of Almenor are to survive, it shan't be beneath the heel of Evar'tir."
  10. "You rule through fear, only to be met with outrage, Evar'tir. Now your kinsmen despise you..." Olórin Telemnar stated gloomily, troubled by the deteriorated state of his country.
  11. "Either we vote for the distinguished tyrant, or an audacious reformist with a sharp political mind." Olórin Telemnar chuckled in amusement, rolling up the scroll. "Well, the choice seems rather obvious..."
  12. Olórin Telemnar procured himself a boat, dragging the vessel onto the embankment, meanwhile flashing a grin to his sister. "Try to keep up!" He jibed, energised with an aura of sibling rivalry. @MunaZaldrizoti
  13. Olórin Telemnar sat upon the paving stones along the shoreline, his eyes transfixed upon the white sea, a mahogany pipe tucked between his lips. He felt a faint breeze skimmer across the water; something had shifted in the lands of Elvenesse. What struck him about Awaiti were the accounts of her early life. Her precarious stride onto the path of a Matriarch as merely a youth, and her accomplishments thereafter as she devoted her life to perpetual stewardship. Surely, there were too few leadership figures throughout history who could have claimed to have been more altruistic. More stubbornly devoted to their ideals, despite every obstacle they had encountered. Or so, that was what the Almenodrin thought, his lips curled into a soft smile. "Inspirational, really. Someone ought to write a book," he remarked, puffing a wispy cloud of smoke. "Rest well, Matriarch. You should be proud of the legacy you have left behind."

  17. THE MAGECRAFT ACT Established. 3rd of the Grand Harvest, 08 SA ~ Foreword ~ This Act establishes the process through which practitioners of the voidal arts may obtain permission to utilise their magics and outlines the circumstances under which to do so. Furthermore, the lawful jurisdiction of the Father Circle’s Coven of Thorns in apprehending rogue mages within the borders of Elvenesse, who lack the specified permit or otherwise breach the terms of said permit, is elaborated upon. Article I: The Permit Scheme 1.1. Application In order to obtain expressed permission to utilise their magic(s), a practitioner of the voidal arts must apply to the office of the Lord Exarch so to receive a documented legal permit. Furthermore, said applicant must be a documented citizen of the Princedom of Elvenesse. 1.2. Process A practitioner of the voidal arts in order to obtain a permit must submit themselves to a review of the judiciary. A representative of the Coven of Thorns maintains the right to advise the sitting judge(s) on the details of magecraft and the applicant in question. The applicant is further subject to answer questions levied on the following grounds: Their knowledge of the voidal arts, the number of and which are magics at their disposal and their relative experience with said magics. Their reasoning behind applying for a permit and their intent in utilising their magic, should their application be accepted. Their interactions with the populace of the Princedom of Elvenesse and by extension any criminal records they might have. 1.3. Conditions Should a practitioner’s application be accepted, they are explicitly subject to utilise their magic(s) on the following grounds: By lawful permission of a member of Government or by will of the Sovereign, in a specific undefinable instance. For military personnel, by lawful permission of a sanctioned officer within military exercises, both offensive or defensive. Out of necessity for the purpose of defending one's self, family and property from unlawful assault. 1.4. Revocation In the event a practitioner of the voidal arts, who holds a legal permit, violates the conditions under which they might utilise their magic(s), they will be charged for acting in contempt of the law established within the Indor Tiran (Criminal Law - 7.1) and may be subject to the revocation of their permit. Article II: Coven Jurisdiction 2.1. Enforcement The Father Circle’s Coven of Thorns are installed with the right to act as Sentinels of the law in the apprehension of rogue mages within the Princedom of Elvenesse. This is an exclusive privilege. Any act of enforcement beyond the apprehension of rogue mages shall be deemed an act of vigilantism (Criminal Law - 4.7). Furthermore, all exertions of force must be proportionate to the compliance of the apprehended suspect. 2.2. Rogue Mages A rogue mage is defined as one who acts in contempt of the law established within the Indor Tiran (Criminal Law - 7.1). 2.3. Accountability The Father Circle’s Coven of Thorns will immediately report their arrests to the office of the Lord Exarch. Their activities shall also be regulated by the Lord Marshal and his officers, who maintain authority in dismissing the Coven from legal operations. Signed, HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Fëanor of House Sylvaeri, High Prince of Elvenesse, Wielder of the Crown of Malinor, Protector of the Almenodrim and Irrinites.
  18. Olórin Telemnar looked fondly upon the scholarly work of his kinsmen. "Let us Almenodrim take pride in our heritage. Praise be to the Great Sea!"
  19. Could you not have implemented quarries with all of the listed resources in every hub, or alternatively added warp signs back to the Cloud Temple, for ease of access? It seems counter-intuitive not to, given that one of the recent complaints for Vortex is how we’ve been forced to hike back and forth across this huge map. I don't believe it's unreasonable to ask for a more efficient form of fast travel.
