  1. ON THE EDUCATION OF BARBARIANS Issued and Confirmed by His Imperial Excellency, the Lord Protector Adrian Leopold anno Domini 1735 Since the martyrdom of Mars I have come to reflect much upon his life. The vigor of his conduct, his passion for GOD and the Imperial State, the zeal he possessed towards the pursuit of justice. The choice to wage war weighs on my shoulders, the despair I feel to the families who lost their sons immense. But let it be known, while Mars rests in the Seven Skies, we must not rest. His legacy shall prevail. A champion in his own right. So there shall be no rest until I meet him in the Seven Skies. Looking at the fields of Elvenesse and Orcish dead, you suffer a terrible uneasiness as if you had just lost all your money at cards, or had committed some unspeakable misspeaking in polite company. A knot forms in your throat. The crude tarps they drape over their lost kindred, soaked by the rain, have fallen away in many places from their corpses, which from tawny skin had become streaked and spotted by the mottles of decay, whilst their newer soldiers served to soon join them in this fate. Even for a staunch leader of men as myself, it has been mortally wearisome there. But, by the victory of our Western Alliance, we are there no longer. Our men of the empire, weary with battle, may now stretch themselves out to rest. The fierce loyalty of the Crownlanders, and the tenacity of the Kingdoms of Haense, Curon and Kaedrin, and other vassals under the Imperial banner, is now rewarded with the time of respite to salt the earth with their wounds, to tie them with kerchiefs and march to victory home. There is no blessing of the Canon nor jewel of this clay of Man that can describe nor repay the ferocity of the men of Rubern and Morsgrad; the stalwart, unwavering forces of the Silver State. These men and Elvenesse alike stood united without skipping a moment to rest or relieve ourselves, our alliance has laid waste to the barbarous offenders, till their corpses came in trickles instead of floods. By our right and our victory will we grant these men their deserved rest. The enemy has been scared from the field of battle. The Elves of Irrinor and others, have entirely abandoned the battlefield, wordlessly and shamelessly. Those who had, with pride and overconfidence, slain our Mars and marched on the Silver State with the presumed support of ‘the entire world,’ have succumbed to absolute decimation on the field time and time again. Now lays open the path for us to punish the transgressions of these fools. Where they should have thrown themselves at our feet and begged forgiveness, they instead slink away from battle and hide in their holes. All who could flee did so. Their soldiers rose and scattered in the manner of that lawless, reckless age of Elven society that tries to attack us yet flees the moment the Orenian dog refuses to be bitten. These beasts show the worst of cowardice. Every one of these Elves of Irrinor who came to the war forgot everything, abandoned everything which had hitherto brought him to take up arms against Man. He, so to speak, spat upon his past and gave himself recklessly up to cowardice - all by fear of our might. Yet, the lesson is not yet learned. First, the Urukhai will be taught their place. They dishonored our people, and then murdered them. They aligned themselves with the fools who marched on us and our allies. We will finish what we started, and make an example of them, to show the foolish woodkin of Irrinor and their allies what awaits those who do not conduct themselves with honor, integrity, or wisdom. Binding the bodies of the Uruk, as they each fall to our hand, to the tails of horses, we will let each loose on the plains, our beasts of burden dragging them through the dusts and earth to show an example to all. We will teach these arrogant fools fear, and those that cannot be taught will be eradicated.

  8. JUSTICE 4th Sun’s Smile 1734 _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Execution was meted out on the spot to the few Orcs that stood in front of the Orenian brigade. A wave of looting swept over the front : the men of Oren pillaged the families of the dead Orcs and stripped the prisoners naked. They took everything, from horses to wagons to the tusks of their prisoners’ snouts. The baggage trains were piled high with trophies; clothes, weapons, spare saddles, anything that had the least bit of value that could be freed from the clasps of the Orcish beasts. From the baggage trains the treasures of banditry of the Orcs flowed to Helena in a steady stream. Pillage in war-time has always been a prime factor in fighting for Mankind, the older soldiers growing fat on the fruits of the Orcish land. Ahead in the cavalry, bridles stuffed with pillaged bounty, road the Lord Protector – his sword raised in address to the brigade of the pious children of Man. The Officers Corps collectively divulging and conversing over preparations for the siege. C. 1734 _____________________________________________________________________________________________ ”Upon my ascension, I had proffered a promise of stability, and consequently, of peace. That was the overarching goal in mind for my would-be people: prosperous humanity that illuminated like a nitid gemstone. Yet, these savage beasts that desecrate the southern reaches of this continent have taken it upon themselves to pillage and leave their putrid mark upon the Imperial Duchy of Vintas. Despite the horrifying events of this day, I have been enlightened and taught that these nations do not fear the Empire in tandem to how they feared us during the reign of Aurelius I. O Orcs, plagued devils and damned devil’s kith and kin, illiterate catamites to the devil himself. What the weak kind of warrior you are, that cannot slay a hedgehog with your naked arse without writing a sneaking to it first? The devil Iblees shits, and your army eats. You are creatures that have lost their own lands, roaming like plough-backed beasts of the field across the world of Man, a venereal plague with extermination being the only cure. You shall not be deemed worthy enough to herd our swine. It is the divine mandate of man, and the manifest of it through recent precedent, to cleanse this world of the syphilitic whelps that present themselves as fledgling remnants of a once-proud race of fighting creatures. This is no more, and I am sure your forefathers will thank us in the next life for casting to the cinders their thin-blooded, **** trodden kin. Each life of the most unpious pauper of Man is worth a thousand of your finest kin, their blood is like gold to the piss that pumps through your hearts. You shall not, you sons of whores, make subjects of Human sons; we have no fear of your band, by land and by sea we will battle with thee – and make it known that even our children have slain a dozen of your aged warriors. Henceforth, it shall be known that invoking the wrath of humanity shall not go unpunished; there shall be no mercy offered to any extent, any longer. Desecration shall be the mentality sought in this war. To the Mokh-Uruk Federation, Your ravenous kind have insulted, mocked, and invaded the Lord Vintas and his demense. Further yet, you have attacked any Orenian that has had the misfortune to stumble into your path – surely as a result of blind courage. You have sealed your fate and shall be the first our armies march upon. Good Riddance. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ ATTACKERS The Holy Orenian Empire and Declared Allies DEFENDERS The Federation of Mokh-Urak and Declared Allies WARGOALS Revenge Pillage Install Government LOCATIONS AND TIME No modifications are to be made to the site after the posting of this thread _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Time to be discussed in war chat icarnus#7244 / Naj#9943
  9. IMPERIAL SUMMONS TO THE CAPITAL 12th OWYN’S LIGHT, 1734 TO THOSE LEAL VASSALS OF THE EMPIRE, PIERCE I DEVEREUX AND TOBIAS MERENTEL In the spirit of fostering strong communication amongst the foremost servants of the Holy Orenian Empire, His Imperial Excellency, Adrian de Sarkozy, invites you to the newly-constructed Imperial City of Helena to discuss recent events that pertain to yourselves specifically. Custom dictates the dissolution of a title of Imperial peerage to be forbidden and illegal act; and so too is a vassal, without the expressed permission of his liege lord the Emperor or Lord Protector, barred from swearing fealty to another. Equally unfortunate is the lack of communication that caused the Lord Protector and his cabinet only to learn of this sudden change in landing and peerage post-facto, which understandably also caused concern amongst the Empire’s foreign allies. The Lord Protector is distinctly assured of your positive intentions concerning this matter, but wishes to duly discuss this titular alteration and its effects upon the Imperial political landscape in the flesh, to ensure an effective dialogue and resolution. Make yourselves available to His Imperial Excellency at your earliest convenience, with whatever entourage you deem appropriate. Partake in the bountiful harvests of the Crownlands’ fields, fisheries, and vineyards, and prepare for frank and open conversation regarding not just recent title changes but other matters pertinent to the nobility of the East. His Imperial Excellency awaits your visit with grace and aplomb. IN NOMINE DEI His Imperial Excellency, Adrian Leopold de Sarkozy, Lord Protector of the Holy Orenian Empire, Governor-General of Helena, Duke of Adria, Baron of Renzfeld
  10. ON THE CURONIAN PROHIBITION To the Earldom of Morsgrad We of the Imperium write to you as comrades in arms and brothers of humanity, in hopes to rectify the propagation of dissent amongst the human realms. The Edict you must recently published was intentioned with affection towards the Imperial Crown, and we accept this to be true; for two brothers should hold each other to standards so as not to embarrass one another. Yet we are not simply brothers, we are sovereign nations with independent and just rulers at the helm. The Vintasians or Curonians who have violated any legal promulgation of titular formation are not for you to hold accountable. To bar a singular subject of the Imperium from your lands is amount to barring any member of the Imperium, and antithetical to the connotation of non-aggression, and respect for the assertion that to be a comrade of Orenia is to be a comrade to all Orenians, and not to pick and choose. It should be instead when such issues arise that your concerns are levied with the Imperial Crown, and not made clear through edict punitive to any subjects of the Imperium. We ask, with all benevolent intentions, that the Earl of Morsgrad treat with the Lord Protector and his council in an effort to take steps towards the dissolution of this Edict, and to ensure to the Earl that only we of the Imperium can, and will, hold all of our vassals accountable for actions illegal, sub-standard, or generally weak in principle or purpose. And that we shall. 19. PROCLAMATION OF IMPERIAL INTERREGNUM Issued and confirmed by the Regency of the Holy Orenian Empire, 10th Sigismund’s End, 1731 Under the present circumstances witnessed by the peerage of the realm, it is duly noted that to pass the Imperial Crown on via normal succession has become impossible. In acknowledging so, a commission to investigate the potential legitimacy of the brothers of the late Emperor Alexander de Joannes has been launched; it has been furthermore determined that, pursuant to such action, to attempt to crown one of their own without due process would only serve to plunge the realm into chaos once more. It is so deemed that until such matters are resolved, and a just and righteous claimant of worthy intellect, ability, and blood, can be determined as suitable to inherit the Imperial Crown of Exalted Godfrey, that the office of Lord-Regent is to be dissolved. In its place a Lord Protector of the Realm is to be created, holding within the Council of State all those powers of the Lord Regent, and therefore of the Emperor-in-Council according to its documents of creation. By popular vote among the Great Houses of the Realm and direct vassals of the Crown, and with the confirmation of the Lord-Regent John of the House de Balain, the Lord Adrian of House de Sarkozy, Duke of Adria, shall be, and is hereby declared to be, Lord Protector, and in doing so swears to the realm with certainty his will to protect its denizens and integrity until such a time as an heir is found or chosen from among the suitable peerage of the realm. The Lord Protector shall, until a new Emperor is crowned, hold in trust and tend as steward to certain titles associated with the Crownlands and the Empire in Arcas, that his governance be known to all as true and just; and for the further purpose of ensuring the proper obedience of all those beholden to the Imperial Crownlands; that being the Principality of Helena and its constituent lands and cities as Governor-General; the Duchies of the Crownlands, Lorraine, and Roden as Duke; and Protector of the Heartlanders, Highlanders, and Farfolk. He is furthermore to be styled whilst holding his office as “His Imperial Excellency the Lord Protector”, and to take residence within the Rubrummagnus and the Empire’s successive palatial residences so as to cement within the common man the knowledge of his governance. It is furthermore the Lord Protector’s duty and obligation to, in due time, determine the heir to the Imperial Crown of Exalted Godfrey; it is his sole right and obligation to call diets in regards to such among the vassals of the realm, or to confirm and enact within the Empire any legislation otherwise regarding the succession. This we proclaim for the furtherance of Our Commonwealth, Upon the day of our Lord GOD, 10th SIGISMUND’S END 1731 HIS IMPERIAL EXCELLENCY, Adrian var Josip of the House of Sarkozic, Lord Protector of the Holy Orenian Empire, Governor-General of Helena, Duke of Adria, the Crownlands, Lorraine, and Roden, Baron of Renzfeld, Protector of the Heartlanders, Highlanders, and Farfolk, etcetera. HIS IMPERIAL EXCELLENCY, Ser John de Balain, Imperial Lord Regent, Imperial Archchancellor, Baron of Selm HIS ROYAL MAJESTY, Andrew III of Hanseti and Ruska, Grand Hetman of the Army, Prince of Kusoraev, Dules, Ulgaard, Lahy, Sorbesborg and Slesvik, Grand Duke of Vanderfell, Duke of Carnatia, Margrave of Rothswald, Count of Karikhov, Baranya, Kvasz, Kavat, Karovia, Kovachgrad, Torun, Turov, and Kaunas, Baron of Valwyk, Venzia, Esenstadt, Krepost and Kralta, , Lord of Alban, Reza, Markev, Lord of the Westfolk, Protector of the Highlanders, etcetera. 20. ENGULFED IN CATASTROPHE “LINE UP!” the drunk commander shouted as screams could be heard from afar. The Peasant Watch of Adria was caught off guard by a sudden offensive by unknown marauders. The settlement found itself under attack and for the first time, it was unprepared. The few peasants that managed to run beyond the line of the peasant guard merely found themselves in temporary safety. Smoke started to rise around the armored figurines in the crop fields, who sliced the fleeing defenseless indiscriminately. The smoke became black fumes as the fire rapidly spread towards the settlement. The guards sprinted towards the Marauders in full force, hoping to defeat them in one effective strike. Yet, their lacking equipment, drunken state of mind and improvised formations were no match to the apparent skillful slaughterers. Annihilated almost immediately, the entire settlement had no effective resistance. While the fire had consumed the first residences already, the Marauders hung the few intact bodies on trees in the crop fields. A splinter group on horseback meanwhile finished off those gathered in the square. Their screams remained unheard however, as the Adrian castle further away had not yet realized that this catastrophe was ongoing. The Marauders eventually left: leaving behind burning crops, residences and a bloodied landscape. It was only when the dark fumes started to cover the sky, that the bells started to toll in the castle. A convoy with Duke Adrian was sent to aid the guards, but they would find nothing but carcasses and devastation. A ditch of children bodies ceremoniously stood in the center of the city square, their blood used to write an expression on the nearby tree: “Zealots are nothing more but decorations for their FALSE god to admire.” A few buildings still stood surrounding the tavern, who now caught fire by a neighboring tree. In an attempt to save the little that remained, Duke Adrian and his convoy tried to cut down the tree and drag it away from the buildings, with others throwing buckets of water against the walls. A few soldiers of the convoy lied devastated next to the ditch of children carcasses, puking and crying as they were confronted with the inhumanity in front of them. The fumes from the surrounding burning buildings engulfed the convoy, who remained steadfast in completing their task at hand. This steadfastness, however, did not remain without a cost. A few soldiers including Duke Adrian started to suffocate, while some even died. Eventually, the fire was extinguished, but the scale of destruction had not sunk in yet. After a day of treating the wounded & celebrating with the survivors, Duke Adrian realized that most of their crops and farmers existed no longer. The supplies that did exist, however, would never be enough for the large population that Adria carried. The massacre came to haunt them, now as a famine. The imminence of another catastrophe brought Duke Adrian to write a petition for aid to the Imperial government. And thus, the Imperial Government sought the cooperation of all its subjects to provide new seeds, crops & supplies to Adria. The unity of the Empire displayed in a grand gesture of philanthropy. Despite this favorable resolution, the atmosphere within Adria remained grim. How could such a capable military be caught off guard? What if Duke Adrian died due to his suffocation? What about our reputation? As these questions circulated the halls of the Adrian castle, the Ducal government found itself at the beginning of a long restoration. Shall Adria prove to the world that it cannot be broken, once again? [[ OOC ]] Credits for: The event - TheIchorDruid The post - Draeris
