  2. The Deepsteels: Ch 1 Daemonsteel - The Wrath Steel (Art by HouseHopper27) “Our final hour is nigh here my kin, we fight fer rock and stone! ARUUUUUUUU!” - A Dwarf in the Deep In times of old in the depths beneath, the most arduous of mortal men found their ways into the bowels of the earth. Amongst horrors of ancient ilk and elder kin of ancient old, in a world deep beneath the world above, they found treasures of untold wonder. Metal to shatter stone, weaponry of carnage carving, and relics of grand wizardry. In the depths of chthon they found the Deepsteels, and of these metals they first were shown the Daemonsteel. Daemite Ore Daemite is a hard, opaque, and dull gray-crimson crystal that is of continuous consistency that is mostly commonly found in cuboid formations. This naturally forming crystal is quite brittle, akin to flint and easily snaps or shatters under forge. The daemite crystals themselves are of an outstanding purity, due to daemite’s incorruptible nature - having few, if any alchemical reactions, especially those of a nature that cause materials to corrode; similar to how iron rusts or how copper forms a patina. However, this would imply natural forms of corrosion, and does not include more fringe types of corrosion, such as acids produced by an alchemist. Something of note is that daemite may sometimes be found in ferrum ore deposits in trace amounts, though rarely. This would be unnoticeable to the naked eye most of the time. Harvesting Method Harvesting daemite requires a miner to be observant of their surroundings since these crystals are known to cause sparks when struck; sparks in a cave system with vapors or gasses in the air are known to cause subterranean explosions. These sparks are of so little quantity and size that they are incapable of burning a person, but may leave a dull oil-splatter like pain in the area of skin struck. Daemite is quite brittle, though, it does not particularly matter if it is struck directly and broken into a bunch of small shards and dust, or collected as whole crystals. Daemite is found deep beneath the earth in most cases, in large veins typically located in hot, damp cave systems and is by no means uncommon. The ambient moisture in the air is what causes daemite crystals to grow, due to the daemite being diffused into the air as a vapor. This process may be observed in real time over the course of weeks with a proper set-up. However, daemite may also be found on the surface in areas of tectonic activity. This results in daemite being found in small pockets across a wide range of areas. Since daemite does not corrode, once it has found itself nestled somewhere on the surface, it will remain there until some other unseen force disturbs it. Applications of Daemite Daemite, being a rather unremarkable crystal with little to few uses outside of alchemy and being a cute oddity, does not have any particular noteworthiness - with the exception of being a fairly capable flux for all sorts of metals, especially when used in conjugation with ferrum. Alchemical Properties - Earth | Endurance x 1 Earth | Lethargy x 2 Refining Method of Daemonsteel To forge daemonsteel one must have a furnace which is capable of at least reaching the forging point of ferrum. The exact metallurgical process pertaining to the creation of daemonsteel is nearly identical to the process of making steel. The method in which the smith chooses to create daemonsteel is up to their discretion. However, the smith must use a crucible that can withstand the extreme temperatures of daemonsteel and use crushed daemite as their flux instead of other fluxes. Daemite is a more robust flux than others, and will cause a forge to heat up to higher temperatures than what is normally feasible. This will quickly and readily heat ferrum to its melting point within a span of thirty seconds - this can be dangerous for inexperienced smiths if they do not know how to properly handle molten metals. As the flux is added, the ferrum will slowly be infused with the powdered crystal, resulting in the creation of molten daemonsteel. This results in the metal now having a much higher forging point than what ferrum typically has, around 2,730°F (1,498°C) and a melting point 3,340°F (1,837°C); this in turn results in the once liquid-ferrum turning back into a malleable solid. Since daemonsteel has just been created in your smithy, you will now have to go through the long and arduous task of actually forging the metal into whatever shape you desire. A large quantity of coal, charcoal, or coal coke will be needed to keep your forge heated at a high enough temperature to keep your daemonsteel malleable. From here on, daemite will need to be added occasionally as flux to wash out impurities garnered from using more carbon-rich fuels such as charcoal or coal; coal coke will result in negligible amounts of impurities in the steel, not requiring daemite to be added again. This process is typically a long and tedious one - requiring a lot of time and dedication, and some mild experience when it comes to gauging how much daemite should be added as the daemonsteel is shaped. Though, again, this is eased by using the appropriate fuel. Points of Note - If you’re starting off with ingots ore, you will need to remove a lot of slag from your metal - if you’re using refined ferrum ingots, not so much if at all. Since you’re using daemite, a flux that burns a lot hotter and prevents oxidation and carbonization, the air will become quite irritable to breathe, but not unbearably so. Due to daemonsteel’s unique properties, the forging process may become more lengthy due to the metal cooling down and heating up relatively slow. Rule of thumb, daemonsteel will retain ‘heat’ for three times the length it was exposed. Three minutes = nine minutes, etc. A handful of daemite is what's required to make daemonsteel akin to a low-carbon steel, two handfuls for something akin to a high-carbon steel. Either results in an ingot of five lbs (2.2kg). Low-carbon steels = softer steels High-carbon steel = harder steels Daemonsteel & Applications A rather dull, matte ash-gray metal, with few other discernible differences to steel. Daemonsteel is a ferrous alloy containing daemite and is an exceptional metal for industrial equipment such as chains, crucibles, gears and even weapons. It functions in a nature similar to carbon-steels, either being on the lower end or higher end of carbon steels depending on the amount of daemite added during the forging process. Though, its industrial uses are linked more to its high thermal capacity(its capability to absorb heat) and its higher forging/melting points, allowing the steel to be used in hotter environments. Functionally, the differences between steel and daemonsteel are almost completely negligible on a mechanical level. Daemonsteel and steel weigh just about the same, they are of the same hardness, the same durability; if made to be similar, and Daemonsteel still does rust(due to being made of iron). Obviously, a high carbon steel is different to daemonsteel that is made with only a little amount of daemite, thus making the daemonsteel more akin to low carbon steel. However, a distinct difference between steel and daemonsteel is that daemonsteel does not become brittle when it becomes cold, if anything, it remains just as brittle as it would normally be at room temperature, at any temperature. Extra - Wroth Daemonsteel gets its name due to the ‘wrathful’ nature of the steel. Any heat applied to the steel is held onto for a time three times the amount it was applied for. If a daemonsteel ax was tucked into the smoldering coals of a campfire for three minutes, it would remain that temperature for at least nine minutes. If it was tucked into the roaring flames of a furnace for nine minutes, it would remain that temperature for at least twenty-seven minutes. This unique property applies to the cold as well. If you dunk a daemonsteel ax into a bucket of ice-water for three minutes, it would remain that temperature for nine minutes. Et Cetera. As daemonsteel heats up, the metal would slowly begin to change color on its surface to a purple, steely-blue, staying at this color if only at the temperature of a campfire. Any hotter and the daemonsteel will start to become a dull glowing orange. This also applies when daemonsteel is getting colder, slowly becoming a darker gray with hues of purple. Daemite Redlines Daemite may be used as flux for a variety of other smithing methods, typically producing more heat than more standard fluxes. This is by no means a way to light a line of daemite flux and melt steel on the spot, it is for crafting RP. If one wanted, daemite crystals could potentially be used akin to flint and steel. Just how crystals are grown in real life, should be plausible with the extent of LotC alchemy. Simple note, law of equivalent exchange, if you use a pinch full of daemite, you will grow a pinch full of daemite, nothing less, nothing more. Daemonsteel Redlines Daemonsteel may remain at the temperature it was heated/cooled to for a maximum of 3 hours. Daemonsteel takes 5 to 10 emotes to heat or cool during combat encounters, depending on thickness - swords being the low end and hammers being the high end. Otherwise, it is up to the player's discretion of how many emotes they want to use to heat up a reasonable amount of Daemonsteel. Daemonsteel will not produce any meaningful amount of heat from friction, merely becoming warm/staying warm. Although heated Daemonsteel is quite hot, it transfers heat poorly. Due to this, Daemonsteel is only capable of searing objects and leaving 2nd degree burns on flesh (1 emote). However, if contact were to be maintained, it would be capable of lighting easily flammable objects such as cloth and thatch on fire, or resulting in 3rd degree burns (approx. 2-3 emotes). Wood would not catch fire from this, but may be left charred. Although cooled Daemonsteel is quite cold, it transfers that coolness poorly. Due to this, Daemonsteel is not cold enough to ‘insta-freeze’ objects, but give an unpleasant burning cold sensation, or coolness, damaging flesh (1 emote). However, if contact were to be maintained (approx. 2-3 emotes), it would be capable of causing frostbite and freezing liquids. Refining Redlines of Daemonsteel The process of creating Daemonsteel must be studied in-roleplay or taught in-roleplay. As daemonsteel is quite freeform, the process the individual smith wants to take is up to them, though they must include the required points. I would call myself the most liberal judge when it comes to building on LotC back when the World Team existed. 'Build Supremacy' is by far the dumbest ******* concept for frothing monkeys on LotC to conjure, and its actually revolting to an extent. I'd rather give out builds for free than watch newbs get pwned on by some cringe LotCer.

  6. The Adfectio Stones (Art made with Picrew; program art by Mochigome) “What beauties lie below.” An unknown explorer. There are untold gems that lie below, beyond the value of lustrous metals and gleaming stones. Within their natural homes, they are dim and show no brilliance. Yet, when held, they are said to emit the emotions of one’s own thought. Adfectio Stones(Raw), Refining, & Harvesting Raw adfectio stones start off as lightless, opaque, gray, crystalline deposits found in clusters within most types of rocks. They are fairly brittle and dull to begin with, having few particularly noteworthy uses. They are able to be extracted with most other methods of mining, and can be polished as easily as any other stone. They appear to attempt to emit varying colors when held, but there is a lack of vibrance and shine when they do. If the Adfectio Stone is polished, one would find very different results. Adfectio Stones(Refined) The adfectio stone has a peculiar property of changing colors when it comes near any mortal creature, capable of thought; up to an inch away before its brilliant, colorful light dims to and fades away to a translucent light gray. The colors that the stone emits appear in a splashing manner, like droplets of rain falling into still water. It is unknown how exactly these stones function, resulting in their wide range of color dependent on emotion. However, many have deduced that the adfectio stone conducts emotional energy found in the body, and emits this energy as light and color. This seemingly makes sense, considering the amount of light the adfectio stone may emit is dependent upon the intensity of the emotion that the mortal may have. This same energy that is conducted may be used in tandem or entirely replace redstone in order to form circuitry, allowing for mechanical processes to be supplanted by the intensity of emotion a mortal may feel. Though, adfectio stones are only capable of powering small aesthetic things, such as lights or other aesthetic things. Yet, one must take care to not mishandle their adfectio stones if they find themselves in a state of disarray or chaos. If, due to emotional circumstance or magical manipulation, one is experiencing many muddled, strong emotions simultaneously, the adfectio stone will be washed over with a vibrant rainbow of colors, with black, white, and gray not being included. These colors appear jagged and erratic, almost like static. If the stone remains in this state for too long, they are susceptible to damage and crack after a few seconds. The exception to this rule comes in part with adfectio stones of larger sizes, with larger stones seemingly attempting to deduce which emotion is being felt strongest, and so choosing that specific one over others. Typically, adfectio stones of fistful size and smaller will easily crack, but anything larger in size than a basketball will not break as easily. 'Strong emotions' are characterized as feelings that are almost 'overpowering', such as an intense rage caused by the murder of a loved one; these stones will break if they experience multiple 'strong emotions'. Adfectio stones that may be held or touched by multiple mortals(2 or more), will result in the respective areas touched by either or the many participants, taking on the color of whatever emotion they are feeling. However, just as before, if the adfectio stone is washed over in too many colors of varying emotional intensities, the stone will break shortly after a few seconds of what appears to be the colors in the stone attempting to overtake one another. Yet, adfectio stones may maintain up to two colors with few problems, by two individuals. Refined adfectio stones are quite smooth, and may really take on any shape the lapidarist so desires. Cutting open an adfectio stone would show that it contains many pockets of globules, which appear to be the cause of an adfectio stone’s conduction. These globules may be seen without cutting open the stone, but would require a glass to amplify one’s sight. With that, if one physically touched an adfectio stone in an area where there were more globules, the emitted light would be brighter. On a final note, an adfectio stone is capable of being used in alchemy. The color the adfectio stone takes on will result in differing alchemical symbols, however, all adfectio stones have the symbol of connection, and are a sign of aether. To use these in any alchemical process, simply crush the stone while it is emitting the desired color in reference to your own emotion. The adfectio stone will remain this color for a few minutes. It must be quickly processed with haste in a mortar and pestle(aurum pestle), and then mixed into aqua vitae and stirred with a ladle(aurum ladle). Finally, boil off the aqua vitae and you will be left with powder(s). Black, Gray, and White: These three ‘colors’ by themselves are typically unseen and rarely do show themselves even across a human’s lifespan, and maybe one or two times for the long lived elves. Yet, the color an adfectio stone reflects does have darker or lighter notes, implying that there must be ‘black, gray, and white’ present in the color which the stone emits. Black: Malevolence, Strength, Chaos - The desire to do conscious evil. Thus, the a black adfectio stone implies that one wishes to do some sort of evil, which one believes is evil, in a conscious manner. Adfectio stones which are truly black and not merely a dark gray are a rare sight, and they are informative of the vile mental state that one may be in. Aether | Dark x1 Aether | Chaos x1 Aether | Connection x1 Gray: Doubt, Fear, Balance - The state one is in when they are conflicted with themselves on a life changing level or have come to terms with whatever hardship they have faced. Most commonly, the doubt one feels is associated with oneself, having felt some sort of way which makes you feel incapable of change, while fear is mostly associated with fear of the unknown, the confusion one feels when they stand next to the precipice of a dark forest, at the edge of a deep chasm - staring into the abyss. Yet, balance is when one has come to terms with themselves, typically on a spiritual level. They have had some sort of realization which has nullified their fears or doubts. Darker grays are associated with fear, lighter grays doubt, and a gray which has reached a middleground, balance. Aether | Blindness x1 Aether | Fear x1 Aether | Balance x1 Aether | Connection x1 White: Innocence, Faithfulness, Altruism - A reflection of the innate desire a mother may feel for her child(altruism), or the feeling a priest may have in reverence of their deity(faithfulness), but it is also a reflection of the innate state of being that most newborns are in, ‘innocence’ - incapable of understanding good and evil, wrong and right, a lack of knowledge when it comes to worldly affairs. A white adfectio stone does not imply that someone has reached a point of unconditional love, or show extreme loyalty in the face of adversity, it is a state of being. Newborns may typically cause an adfectio stone to emit white, and the elderly on death’s door may also cause a stone to emit white. Aether | Light x1 Aether | Purity x1 Aether | Connection x1 Red: Anger, Excitement, Embarrassment, Love - Reds are often associated with stronger, much more spontaneous emotions, as well as thoughts and feelings that can overpower others. Rage, excitement, embarrassment, and love are all emotions that will trigger reddish coloration in a stone, with paler reds such as pink or blush signifying love or embarrassment, darker reds like cherry or scarlet hues signifying rage and anger, and more middle ground reds like ruby shades will signify excitement. Aether | Rage x1 Aether | Connection x1 Blue: Loss, Sadness, Worry, Tranquility, Peace - Blues are commonly seen as the opposites to the more red emotions, showing more calm, slow emotions, as well as thoughts and feelings that could be perceived as more serious or missunderstood. Loss, sadness, worry, peace and tranquility are all emotions that can cause the stone to shift to a blue hue, with darker shades like navy and indigo representing loss or sadness, middle shades like cobalt or azure reflecting worry or nervousness, and paler blues like cornflower or powder representing tranquility and peace. Aether | Order x1 Aether | Connection x1 Yellow: Content, Happiness, Pride, Apathy, Boredom - Yellows are most often seen with representations of happiness, such as with sunflowers or dandelions, and are usually much more fast paced emotions or thoughts, usually signifying happiness, pride, contentment, or in the worst case, apathy and boredom. With darker, brighter yellows, such as canary or sunflower yellows, the holder of the stone would be revealing more happy or prideful emotions, while middle shades of yellow, like sunshine, would signify contentment. Pale yellows, however, would moreso represent apathy or boredom. Aether | Vigor x1 Aether | Connection x1 Orange: Hatred, Contempt, Disgust, Passion, Enthusiasm - A mixture of red and yellow, the color orange will represent both fast paced and also explosive emotions and thoughts, such as hatred, contempt, passion and enthusiasm. Lighter shades of orange will reflect more of the passion and enthusiasm, possibly reaching almost a marigold’s shade of orange, whilst the darker shades represent disgust, contempt or hated. Aether | Strength x1 Aether | Connection x1 Green: Envy, Jealousy, Longingness, Compassion - A mixture of yellow and blue, these colors are based around more fast paced and calmer emotions or thoughts, such as envy, jealousy, longingness or compassion. The shade range within the greens can go from a pale fern signifying the longingness and compassion at a mild amount, to the darkest shades signifying jealousy and envy reaching a deep emerald color. Aether | Weakness x1 Aether | Connection x1 Purple: Confusion, Discomfort, Curiosity, Wonder, Insight, Bravery - A mixture between red and blue, this color combination brings more orderly and understood emotions to mind, signifying discomfort, curiosity, wonder, insight or even in worst cases, confusion - the lack of order and understanding. Lighter shades for these hues will often be seen in lilacs or lavenders, signifying confusion or discomfort. Whilst more vibrant or bright purples leaning more towards amethyst or iris being more along the lines of wonder or curiosity. Whilst a strong emotion like bravery will take on a darker purple, like that of wine. Aether | Growth x1 Aether | Connection x1 Redlines The player chooses what color an adfectio stones reflect; this cannot be forced upon anyone unless they are under some sort of spell or magic that is capable of affecting the mental state of a person. When it comes to criminality and attempting to deduce if one is innocent or guilty, an adfectio stone is not a reliable method, as black and white are rare colors, and these colors do not show up because some feels guilt, shame, or knows they are ‘innocent’ of the offense. Since players consciously choose what color they want an adfectio stone to emit, they are their own judge and jury amongst whatever RP scenario they are in. Adfectio stones may be used to operate aesethetic redstone devices. It cannot be used to operate piston doors, powered rails, or anything of similar mechanical significance. When it comes to what kinds of creatures are affected by adfectio; only those that can think on a 'higher spectrum'. This essentially eliminates plants entirely, with the exception of lore specific plants; and animals which are incapable of emotion(at least what is considered emotion), so that eliminates insects like grasshopper, ants, beatless, etc. Most Constructs are capable of causing a reaction in an adfectio stone. The rule of thumb is 'if it has sentience/self awareness'. Don't overcomplicate this. Credits: Elrith - me, I did the rewrite lemme pat myself on the back real fast :cringe: Bravery - they asked me some questions so I said **** it and did a rewrite; also wrote lots of the new stuff - mainly updated a bunch of the colors. Phil - a good lad, basically wrote all the original stuff, I just transcribed it into a new format and added onto it. Author’s Notes My writing has improved since the previous iteration of Adfectio lore, and obviously, it needs a little updating since it lacks depth and has quite a few grammatical and spelling errors. In all honesty, it was a rushed work. This is to simply freshen up the lore and give it some presence it truly needed. All that’s been done is the addition of the color gray and adding onto some of the colors to give them a bit more depth and an explanation. Happy Easter.
  7. "Route this corruption from our lands! These foul 'ata worship and dedicate themselves to a wyrm, instead of seeking Larihei's enlightenment!" Elrith the Republican proclaims in the city square, with renewed fervor.
  8. It actually just provides activity to a nation even if you aren't in the tile. Idk if its finished yet but thats the end goal. Its not replacing activity, its an addition.
  9. "I care not who sits on throne, but the moot must be honored! Lest we forget the honor and pride we hold as Rurics." Ellenore Eiriksson reads the missive, wondering what is to come of these events.
  10. "Tis a shame that one of our own would fall so low to act akin to an Edvardson. The ancient tradition of the Kingsmoot was not honored this day, but I expect no less from the Clan of Edvard." Ellenore Eiriksson frowned as she heard of the news, her attention once agained focused on the Norlandic Realm.
  11. As a hard core Haelunorian on the Republic side, I can actually get behind this.
  12. Honestly, if the player who did this had acted as NL longer than 4 days and then didn't say, 'I'm going on hiatus for a week', then Haelun'or would have 100% been fair game. Besides the numerous other things this player did and then blatantly lied about, Haelun'or would have been owned by Ivarielle right now.
  13. Mali'aheral and Mali'fenn are not interchangeable terms. They're two seperate distinct groups, and I'm sure snow elves would rather be addressed as Mali'fenn or Fennic Elves than to be roped in with Mali'aheral or Mali'thill. Also, Mali'thill isn't slang, 'thill would be slang, but Mali'thill is a word. Tl;dr st dumb
  14. "Blessed is the will of Larihei, blessed is the Lady of Silver!" Elrith the Republican proclaims in the city square. "Quite awkward." Ellenore comments as she is told of the news.

  16. "Rot has corrupted the mind of this maiden!" Elrith the Republican proclaims in the streets of Haelun'or, betwixt the gate and the tavern. "Not only has she led mercenaries to our gates, but also the Mali'fenn - in an effort to further disrupt the rather peaceful time that Elvendom was in! She wishes for peace, she wishes for a strong and united Haelun'or, but only sews deceit amongst the ranks and calls for violence to be used against our opposition to submission!" He raises his right hand to form a fist, while the left rested on the pommel of his blade. "If Ivarielle wanted for Haelun'or to progress, she should have come to us when we were at peace, with a self-endowed duty to get a council position. Instead she fought for domination of el'cihi and ruin of our ways and peoples! She is a blight upon the 'thill, and a plague upon the Mali! The foul Ivarielle has disrupted whatever proper peace we could of had between the Mali, in a time when old grudges and conflicts had long since passed. She is rot and she is ruin!"
  17. "We must not let these foul draconic worshippers dare defile our Silver City, for not only are they a menace to our people, but a blight upon the very land itself!" Elrith is appalled by the fact that the Mali'fenn and Ivarielle would align themselves with the draconic menace, Azdromoth - but this shouldn't come as surprise as he thinks about, they already worship a wyvern.
  18. "Tis a good thing the 'fenn are not kin." Elrith proclaims, brandishing his sword.
  19. "Blessed is the will of Larihei, blessed is the Lady of Silver!" Elrith proclaims in the city square, raising his weapon-wielding left arm, a polished sword in hand. "The hour draws near once more when vile 'ata come to stalk our children in the witching hour, and stab out their hearts. We are on the eve of destruction, when foul belligerents come marching to our gates!" The animati seethes a metallic hiss beneath the mask of his Sillumir armor. "To defend democracy will be duty, to defend the republic will be my oath!"
