  1. Helena de Senna, deep in her contemplation of several different stacks of parchment, squinted up to quickly scribble her name upon the decree. "Finally! Gah. Now the rest of the work . . ." the Lord Justiciar cast a sidelong glance at the laws, blueprints, and house documents that were scattered about. "GODAN."
  2. Helena lurched forward in her seat as she read, squinting at and scanning each page (like Nerium had) for mentions of her husband, or the Curia, or any of those odd little projects. "Thank GOD. Only ramblings," she wheezed, and promptly filed it away.
  3. Helena sighed, shaking her fist at the paper as she looked to the Archchancellor. "The Lemon Hill Lakers missed the playoffs, yet again . . ." @cadazio
  4. +1, lovely lore and a very good and necessary addition with the new rules. Regardless if they existed, let us gays have children !!!!
  5. I've attended and helped organise protests and civil justice events for my fellow lgbtq folk but im a bigot for not 100% supporting a homophobia rp ban ... . okey  . ..

I think the answer is just banning the ppl who r oocly bigots (theyre literally always so obvious) but what would I know !?! At least we can still be sexist. . all of us women thank the admins..

  6. making our pride post into an obvious controversy post is also kind of a shitty move

  7. let me preface this with: I'm very openly queer in orientation & gendah Banning homophobic RP entirely is sort of silly? Of course, people have been shitty and RP'd it solely for OOC motives. I've seen it, but I've also seen them get rightfully hated out of whatever community they're in and, very often, banned for harassment. Just the type of people who do that RP. However, it's also been a big part of some of mine, and friend's, and other peoples', characters' arcs. i.e., I had a noble gov character who had internalized homophobia because of how he was raised and hid his relationship with another man in the government for DECADEEES out of shame, it led to some interesting drama and development as people. I've also had characters who were genuinely hateful, some of them pivoted and became accepting because they had family, or friends, that were gay. With how certain cultures in roleplay are (wether it's religious, familial, etc), it's natural for hatred of certain things to exist (besides human subrace racism, that was always weird), and I think while it's definitely in good spirit ban it, it's also just an attempt at a big fix-all "we don't think the players can handle this nuance, so it can no longer exist". At what point is it catering too much to people who really ought to step back and take a breather? I say we shrimply beat all the ooc homophobes to death😍💓 anywho slay the month away my brothers and sisters (and imho sexism rp is infinitely more annoying and evil to deal with than any homophobic rp I've encountered. put a girl on .. these rule discussions! srsly!!)

  10. Helena wiped the sweat from her brow, sitting back from a desk covered several feet high in papers - petitions, templates for the laws written and to-be written, the like. She looked to her husband, Ledicort, with an exhausted smile. "We're so back." @cadazio

  13. "Do you hope to see him again? Your brother?" Helena ran down the corridors of the palace, a little wooden sword held aloft as she chased after her elder brothers. The little Novellen, with her tresses of red hair and her tiny crown their father had made, and her handmaidens with their snide remarks. Life was simple then, even if tragedies loomed soon on the horizon. And then the tragedies began. Her mother and father were called before the Church for a supposed scheme to slay the pontiff, and the Crown of Balian was thrown in the air for all to grab and claw at. Her days were then spent being introduced to priests she cared not for, pilgrimages to little churches in the middle of fields she never wished to visit, and sowing and reaping fields to prove humility that the Princess didn't have. It was only fitting, then - perhaps judgement from GOD - that she was thrown off to sea. The Princess had disappeared for two decades, until fate would have it that she found her way back onto the shores of Aevos again. "Tell them." The first face she saw in her return was her brother. John Casimir and Helena Casimira - reunited at last. They spoke for several hours, teary-eyed in the Hanseni tavern. She returned to a humble life on the coast with her children, until her husband, Aslan, had driven her to her wit's end. So she took her children and made way for Balian, bruised, battered, and now widowed as she were. Pikes and trenches greeted them. A war had begun again. John was excommunicated a second time, their family was back upon the butcher's block. She would not have her children die here, and she would fight for her kin - stubborn as they were - to live past this. John and Kathryn especially. All would be alright. "Tell them the truth." The Novellen-Butcherer, the disowned Vuiller, many names that Ledicort had been called - all for their own reasons. He aimed to have the name Novellen trampled into the dirt, and yet, on a quiet eve he'd found himself speaking to one in their own camp. And Helena found herself speaking to the enemy. The man who she figured was the cause of all of this - she was not dumb, she had seen the writings. Behind her back she'd clutched a dagger with nothing but distrust in her eyes and hate in her heart. He returned home after a conversation that lasted some eight hours, when the night sky began to lighten to a dull orange. Helena was left to ponder. To what side did she belong? "I hope you find some piece of mind ..." Time drew on. She fell in love with 'the enemy', started a family alongside 'the enemy.' She thought of him as that no longer. But then, what were her kin? Better yet, what was she to her kin? A day before the battle, they had caught her sister-in-law and John's wife, Kathryn. Helena remembered her fondly, the girl had been the elder sister she never had. Yet she had been the one to point the finger. 'That's ... my sister. My sister-in-law, Theveus.' Nothing came of the capture. No closure for the woman, nor information for the church. And Kathryn left unharmed after several harsh conversations Helena had with the Haelunori, who to her horror, wished to disembowel the Queen Consort. And then the final battle arrived. "I hope you find some paradise ..." John was dead. She learned about it beside the very man who wished him gone. The King of Balian was dead. John, 'the last', was dead. Her brother was dead. For several nights and several days, Burgundy rejoiced while their Lord Justiciar was left to mourn on her own. For who would mourn the enemy? "John . . ." "John, I'm sorry," Helena wept.
  14. Helena watched the battlefield from afar, trembling. No sword nor shield, or armor to wear - Kathryn's prayers rung in her mind like salt upon the wound. The Lord Justiciar sulked back from the towers window, head hung.
  15. my princess needs a kid played 👽 discord is @velkuzat
  16. Helena stood opposite of Valindra and Ledicort, hand upon her in-law's - the hostage's, rather - shoulder. As if Kathryn could even hope to run in that little room. No, Helena was frozen. She had held the metaphorical dagger and yet hesitated, doubting, even, when she'd pointed out that the random woman they'd happened upon was in fact the Queen of Balian. So why did she feel this great dread?
  17. "Ever-loving ****, thank god. The damned wall is gone!" Helena, zeal lemonhiller, wept a tear of joy.
  18. Legal reasons, unfortunately. Idk about regular bans but people can and probably might have actually tried to file a case for ""slander"" because of people calling them nonces😔

  20. As one of the first three to get banned for Metaplay: there are legitimate cases where the rule has worked (our case), and then there a lot that just seem like the definition was stretched incredibly thin to fit the player into it. I do really think it was done with only good intentions, on paper its an amazing idea. Why should we tolerate OOC muck politics on here? But in practice even with the proper definitions it becomes more vague. After I was banned I had a slew of people in my DMs to bother & harass me about it. Whatever, expected, it was just namecalling and "never come back, scum !!!!". But when you're a roleplay leader yourself, you'd think you'd uphold the same RP leadership rules you're using to mock ppl: and then several of the people that did this got metaplay banned themselves. 🤷‍♂️ Since then ppl have been at eachothers throats, trying to find ways they can ask staff to audit people for suspected meta. I was sent a few SS's of people trying to accuse me & a friend of metaplay because our characters that hated eachother got married ?? And I know other silly things have happened to other folk as well. I've seen waaay too many friendships destroyed recently from all of this (between "leakers"/bans/etc). It's good in theory, but when you give anyone a chance to admin ban people they don't like, they're going to take it. And even then, like you said and many ppl predicted, it hasn't even really lessened the amt of metaplay that takes place: people are just more secretive about it now.
  21. you need to be petty-maxxing. you need to be keeping a list of every wrong someone has done to you for the last five years, minimum. my list stretches back to the day of my conception. before my fat, clumsy infant hands could write, I would have my grandmother maintain this list for me. vengeancemog even the smallest enemies with excessive displays of your unbridled malice. only then will you be truly free

  23. Helena smiled the sun's smile, glad to have gotten done with her first case as Lady Magister. "May GOD save that man. And may he get rid of that atrocious costume . . ." she murmured to her husband as they left the courtroom.
  24. John, no longer in his social years, had heard murmurs of their passing as he made his monthly trip outside the house. Wherever that house was, now. The winged man recalled meeting the two long ago when Rhys still lived, and occasionally spoke with them - he knew they were close with Orion. Orion. Oh, dear. He promptly rushed home and swept the void-sick man into a hug, muttering under his breath, "I'm so sorry." @Lapidary
