  2. i know this is a joke post but i actually think one of the reasons there aren't a lot of peasant characters is because in a lot of places being involved and active in the community will get you nicely promoted, so a lot of people who start out as average joes but hang around and participate a lot get offered stuff like leadership opportunities and upward social movement, leading to them not being average joe peasants anymore. or at the very least, this is what i've seen happen to a lot of characters where i play, as well as basically what happened to myself. imo this is a good thing! it leaves an unrealistic gap in the social ladder sure, but it helps people get broadened RP opportunities on the flip side

  10. "Why do the cowards of Balian go running to the Pontiff for protection when those they insult and slight come knocking on their doors. They ought not run their mouths if they've not the strength to back it up. The Queen of Balian got herself involved when she accused Ser Rickard of murderering innocents in her palace, when in fact it was quite the opposite; the Queen herself robbed this man of an ancient relic." remarked Rhys var Ruthern to his family members over dinner.
  11. 1974. HIS HOLINESS CAIUS I, High Pontiff of the Church of the Canon, Archbishop of Visigia, Successor of the High Priesthood of the Church, Supreme Pontiff of the Church of True Faith, Keeper of the Canon, Missionary to Aeldin, High Servant to the Exalted's Testaments, Sovereign of the Apostolic City, Humble Servant of the Faithful and Vicar of GOD does decree the following… In the name of the Almighty GOD, we, Caius I, High Pontiff of the Canonist Church, by the grace and authority of the Laurel of the Priesthood of Owyn, do now address the faithful and all those who dwell in the realms of man in earnest kinship. It is with a profound regret and heavy heart that we of the cloth now must observe the strife and discord between the branches of the House of Ruthern within the Kingdom of Balian and the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska. This conflict, which we believe did spawn from petty squabbles and quarrels now has sown the seeds of division and discord among the tribe of Horen, and thusly is a matter of grave concern to the Holy Mother Church, for it threatens the peace and unity that men our vocation are divinely called to uphold among the faithful earnestly and with great commitment. As the shepherd of the Universal Church, it has become my sacred duty now to foster harmony and concord among the children of GOD. Therefore, under the auspices of our Lord, who is the Prince of Peace, we commit ourselves to the holy endeavor of mediating this budding conflict, with the earnest hope of restoring lasting peace within our tribe of Horen. In this holy endeavor, we have been approached by the monarchs of both the Kingdom of Balian and the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, who have sought our divine mediation and guidance. We accept this grave responsibility with humility and resolve, and we shall convene peace summits where representatives of both branches of House Ruthern, as well as the sovereigns of the respective kingdoms, shall gather under the banner of the Lorraine to seek reconciliation and accord. In these peace summits, we shall invoke the wisdom and justice of the Almighty, and we shall employ the Ecclesiastical authority vested in us to broker a resolution that is just and equitable. We thus hereby declare our unwavering commitment to monitoring this conflict closely, and to intervening in the name of peace and justice. Moreover, we now declare as the Mother Church our solemn pledge to ensure that this dispute does not escalate into a larger calamity that could engulf the kingdoms in turmoil and bloodshed. It is now incumbent upon all parties to approach these summits with hearts open to forgiveness and minds attuned to the divine will, that lasting peace may prevail and the bonds of brotherhood be renewed. We have received the grievances of the House of Ruthern of Hanseti-Ruska and their demands upon the Balianite Branch of their family, which are as follows; ✠ A formal apology to Lady Tatiyana and the House of Ruthern for the perceived slights. The Church supports this motion for an apology delivered from both sides onto one another. ✠ A payment of 500 minas for your grievances. The Church supports this motion for a payment delivered from the House Ruthern of Reutov to the Duchess Tatiyana. ✠ Forfeiting the title of ‘Head of Rutherns’ or any title that implies it. The Church supports this motion for both of the branches to come to a concord of confederation which will dissolve any claimed titles. ✠ The delivery of the Duke or his head for the House of Ruthern. The Church supports the Duke of Reutov abdicating and taking up a monastic life, and condemns any calls for his execution. ✠ An apology from the Queen Sybille for her dishonorable accusations# The Church condemns this demand for involving the Queen of Balian within their demands. ✠ The Balianites will forfeit the name of Ruthern entirely The Church unilaterally VETOES this motion. Under the auspices of the Law, no son may be punished for the sins of their fathers. Should a decree come to be published, that of which bastardises the Reutov line of House Ruthern, the Church shall release decrees of legitimisation to fix this wrongdoing and will take it as a challenge to Ecclesiastical authority.

  17. Sorrel shakes his head. Certainly this woman Catherine, one who was so obsessed with him, was not to marry a man he'd never heard of... He went home to Vissengren to ask his mother's advice.
  18. The officiating Bishop, Father Jean, was known to sorely despise weddings, and had begun his mental preparations for the event well in advance. However, once the occasion was formally announced and the Bishop reviewed the list of invitees, a particular name caught his eye. To know now that the esteemed Lord Jaramy, Colonel of the Lechians, could grace the wedding with his presence was reason enough for Jean to forget about his reservations.

  22. You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) My story? And who are you to ask?... But you know what.. I need this.. Let’s go.. (sigh)… I was born in a wealthy family, which meant we had what everyone wanted.. I got a good education.. I can speak a language and a half, (nodding his head) I wasn’t really keen on the second language (ends nodding). But books always fascinated me, how much you can tell through them, just using words… I could’ve gone abroad, or just stayed at home, assume my father’s position after he died. I was a first-born after all.. But I didn’t, I.. My family.. Well let’s say that I did not agree with my family’s views and they did not exactly understand mine, so we didn’t get along that much.. At the age of 15 I just ran away from home, went to work in a library, a big one, and one that was far away from my past.. Worked there for a lot of years, got to read a lot, I really liked history and poetry, I loved them.. Ehh.. But this life got stale.. being a librarian isn’t as fun as it sounds. But at the age of 20 I met this girl. She was a great one, open-minded, smart and beautiful, as a goddess, fell in love, married a year later. I had 2 kids from her. And well, I loved that, I saw the world differentely. Now everything I did, was for my family, a librarian was a great job, again, I was happy.. I really was. My two little boys were the most cute and charming children someone could have.. When I was 32 is where it all crumbled.. A huge disease spread through the town.. It first took my little boy and then.. (you know this like sound, like huh, but not a confused one but a sad one, I don’t know how to describe it but basically it) my big boy as well.. My wife.. She ended her life.. I left.. I couldn’t stay there.. (deep breath) I became a sailor.. There I got a tattoo, a rose tattoo [inspired by the song “Rose Tattoo” by the Dropkick Murphies]. It was for my wife and kids, see (takes right sleeve off) (then puts it back on). I began to recover.. Starter writing a journal, it kept my passion my passion for books, and I needed somewhere to write my thoughts in. Met some nice people on that ship, made some friends, some good friends, but it didn’t last long.. We crashed.. (stares for a bit, like a ptsd stare).. We washed up on some remote island, god knows where, journal, nowhere to be found. I was thinking of beginning one again, would be nice.. But anyways. Out of the 10 we were on the island, only I survived.. We went crazy.. At a certain point, it was just who will outdo the others, who has what it takes to beat the others.. I didn’t.. I just hid away.. (deep breath) They took care of each other.. A year or so later, a ship appeared, I got its attention.. They saved me, and I can not tell you how much I wish they didn’t.. My “saviours” were pirates, bandits and outlaws.. bad people.. But.. I was in “debt”, I had to pay it off.. 4 years with them.. What I did.. It changed me for the worse.. (looks away and shakes head), I won’t give any details… (looks back).. They let me go after that.. I guess you can call it luck but I am not sure what exactly it is.. Ever since then.. I have just been wandering.. Going from place to place.. I.. (deep breath) I am just lost.. (looks down) Maybe I will find myself one day.. (shaking head) But I don’t see that happening soon.. (quickly looks at the stranger). Well thanks for listening to me, I needed to say that out, see you around..
  23. The van Leuven invitation wormed its way into Mahaut’s possession after enough searching. “Oh, Eam so happy for them!” There was a beaming smile on the girl’s face before shock took hold. “Oh GODAN, what do Ea even get as a wedding gift?”
  24. Malna/Annika grinned down at the invitation, immediately at a table with a well-loved book out, writing recipes. "Emma has been so kind to me... I'm going to make this the tastiest wedding ever!!"
  25. उपर्यध: समन्ताच्च शिखाभिर्वह्निसूर्ययो: । दह्यमानं विभात्यण्डं दग्धगोमयपिण्डवत् ॥ १० ॥ - Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam; Canto 12: The Age of Deterioration; Ch. 4; 12.4.10 The man observed the letter he had received a moment, dusting off the snow on his cloak as he returned from the North. Cathan then stared up towards the sky, where the 'meteors' had fell to the Earth alone. A small, hesitant breath left the masked individual, before he wrote back simply, "I do not believe I will make it, Congratulations on your marriage. - Fabius." तत: प्रचण्डपवनो वर्षाणामधिकं शतम् । पर: सांवर्तको वाति धूम्रं खं रजसावृतम् ॥ ११ ॥ - Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam; Canto 12: The Age of Deterioration; Ch. 4; 12.4.11
