One of the arguments I've heard revolves around the fact that there will always be a need for more plants, potions, etc. Why not allow staff to place a limit on these? I'm in favor of a system that gets rid of the suggestions and allows the occasional breakthrough in technology with heavy RP work, beforehand lore team agreement, and feasibility. At the very least, the lore needs to be cleaned up so one can look through all of it and really immerse themselves in the lore. Originally the wiki was meant to do this, but it's not longer suitable with the constant lore being implemented.

I. . .well, hmmm. . .this wont work. Just think about it: what's the main problem in LotC right now (or at least was, im not sure if its still is)? Restrictions. Players will say that the lore only being contributed by the staff is a restriction as players can't contribute what they want when they want. Plus, i like writing lore, and have pages of lore not posted on the forums that I hoped to post later on. Dont do this staff. . .it will just cause more problems, and quite frankly I like player lore, there is some pretty good ideas there that maybe even the staff could not contribute.

Now, I realize that you might come up with some system that allows players to post what they want to see on the server on some topic and the staff expanding on it, but that has loads of problems as well. It turns lore writing into a chore, and makes players get angry when the lore comes out differently than anticipated. In my opinion best thing to do is just keep the current system, and enforce a rule about how much lore can be posted at a time. This will contain the influx of lore, and make it easier for the LMs.

You totally misunderstood the idea. Players would be able to create lore on a whim, so long as it doesn't breach a set of guidelines put in place by the staff/lore masters. As in nothing OP and what not.

Wait, so I can finally be a Tree-Person? O.O

I don't know what the policy has been, I assumed you could only play as the official races/sub races. I think with this new policy, it will allow players to have unique or un-approved additions to their characters, actions, and environment, as long as it was represented in MC.

It's like if someone roleplays having two blades for arms. In the end it's still an iron sword vs iron sword, since the fight is using MC mechanics.

What I do question is:

When did this change? We used to have it this way, not because it was a rule that we could do it.

But because it just was this way, we didn't need regulations in the same manner that we do now.

I look forward to see how this will effect the server.

Lore should definitely be restricted and set in stone by the lore team. If people wish to 'suggest' lore and not 'propose' lore that shouldn't be an issue and if that wish to be so heavily involved in the LotC lore then they can simply submit an app to join the LT.

I have always thought writing lore was interesting. It lets you have a better understanding of whatever you are writing the lore about which makes you be able to RP it better. As it stands the only thing you actually need lore for is anything that gives your character an advantage. Why should you make it where this is unable to be regulated? It also allows other players to be aware that this invention, equipment, or whatever it is you are writing lore about actually exists. Also the thing I don't think many of you are realizing is the rules they will have to put in place to control this so it doesn't get crazy would probably be more constricting than current lore regulations anyways. It sounds nice, but I am afraid it in actual practice would merely make things worse across the board. Now I could be wrong, but I don't see the issue with lore how it stands. If this were to actually go through though, I would still want the lore section to remain up. I remember one time someone asked me why I would ever write lore if I didn't need to. What they didn't understand is it allows other people (new people) to view and understand it quickly and easily. Not to mention I just like to write lore sometimes. Also while I am here, I have always wondered but why don't LM's write more lore themselves about things that are in the game but have not yet been explained in lore? On top of that, I wish the lore section was more organized so I could find the lore on certain things easier. Or if that could not be achieved, have a place, such as the wiki, that has all the lore neatly organized so it is easy to find, then if there is not lore on it request lore to be written or you write the lore yourself then get it approved. That is just my two cents though, thanks for reading it all if you did.
