Your View: Desired Server Changes

Just stop removing things, keep some means of order so that we don't end up with an RPG server.

I'm not trying to be a rouge. . .

Not the point.

It is imperative to new players, as well as interesting to look at, to have a world map. Though it may lead to a little bit of metagaming, it can add to the depth of the continent and is a useful tool that has been promised in the past, yet never delivered.

I've been asking for this, literally, for months.

Anyways, in order of most to least important (but all quite important):

  1. We need a lead dev. Our updates are very erratic and have no direction. When certain staff members take up a project and they are considered a 'lead dev' for that project, its very discouraging to see all their ideas shot down, even though they're 'heading' the project, whether they even knew that or not.
  2. Better advertising; we need this: http://www.uthrandir.com/#!features/c5ic There is literally no reason we do not have this. Media team, what's up?
  3. Add a world map: I've been asking for months.
  4. Perhaps do away with VAs: No more lockpicking, can steal 5-10% from an unlocked chest maybe?
  5. Better VIP perks. We need to add more, not take away.

I could go on for a long time but I don't really see any point in it. To me, LoTC is not fun because it's hardly Minecraft. We should be playing LoTC-flavored minecraft, not forum roleplaying through minecraft.

Players don't really understand the difference between RPG, RP, RP-RPG, Faction, PVP, Etc. Sometimes I don't feel like spending 2 hours roleplaying to get a sword made. Sometimes I just wanna throw some sticks and ingots together and go beat mobs. When I want to play Minecraft, I'll play it. When I want to RP, I'll do it.

Exactly. We need to remove the applications, the forum-dependence, and all that shizz. I don't like that the roleplay section of the forums is now a substitute for RPing in game. It should be posters, notifications and announcements, not forum RP. Leave it ingame.

What we need to do is not focus on what we should add or focus on what we should remove. We should focus on what we already have planned and get more people to work on them to get them to us. Magic plugin, Skills plugin. Maybe not focusing on plugins themselves just everything in general on things we have promised. We need to instead work on those things before we actually add more things to the list. Then we can add more things to it once everything is done. Also, updates to me for the past few updates haven't been that spectacular. We should have less updates on little things and instead have updates be more.. Spectacular. Something I would be surprised and even ecstatic about for when they are released. Lastly, I think we should have more thought out finalized decisions rather than on the spot decisions that end with a lot of hate. For example, the magic being free. Don't get me wrong I don't hate or love the addition. The only thing I wanted was a more thought out process on the matter with everything already done with restricted magic and non restricted magic for example. I first hated the idea, but now am starting to like it. Besides the expert mages here and there, it was fun rping more with freedom to see other aspiring mages. I really just think that they should have planned out all the things for the magic being free. Such as thinking each subtype by itself rather than just saying magic is free. I just think for it and future decisions on the gm and admin teams. They should fully think about the ideas thoroughly before making a decision. Even if you finalize it. Check it again, and critique the idea one or two more times. even after you think it is done. I just want a full system to be in place if they make one rather than a system idea put up. Then making major changes days, maybe weeks after it is put in place. Anyways, those are some of my ideas for now. Will put up more probably in a simple and orderly fashion later.

That server sucked by the way. Great concept though, but overshadowed by terrible roleplayers who can get away with being terrible.

No more possibly, or maybe, or soon , or we're debating. Tell us right now, is a magic plugin in the works and close to completion?

Telling you right now: In the works? Definitely. Close to completion? We'll see. The product looks good so far, but given the nature of plugins related to magic, I can't necessarily tell how close I am to finishing it. Your welcome.  :truestory:

Raise the community feel.

Its the holiday period so there's reasonable excuse for holding holiday related events. Talking about a BIG festival that is publicised through the main news thread, not just in the Events or the Roleplay topic. Give everyone a bit of fun and something to look forward to during the break, even better if it can carry over a few days. Lost of publicity well beforehand, maybe a bit of world painting to set the mood, and then we have a great big something to pull everyone together. Simultaneously releasing a new patch with some goodies to mess around with may also be assisting. If that goody happened to be magic, I might be overly satisfied.

EDIT: Have we noticed that something's happened with signatures? I attempted to fix it, for obvious reasons, and nothing happened.

Lists and reasons, here we go.

1. Re-add magic apps at cost of [removing villain apps MAYBE.]

To paraphrase the great book of Telanir, "You can't have complete trust in the players, thats stupid, you can't have no trust in the players, some actually have common sense, you need to find a happy medium where you can moderate but still allow freedom." Which is why I hope magic apps will be added. Call it a gut feeling combined with logic, but look at the situation; with the "Soon" release of the magic plugin [which won't be all too soon honestly until we can get collaborating on it as a tech team], and the lack of Mas, there arises a very large issue. Previously where there were tiers, there is now... nothing. This means no teachers, no students, nothing solid and moderated by the staff as to be able to assign plugin ranks too when and if it comes out. Basically this means you will have to give everyone every bit of access to the magic plugin because they can now randomly learn a subtype or, hell, new type of magic never thought of before.

This is why I suggest removing villain applications as almost a bargaining chip for getting the MAs back. With villain applications gone, sure anyone can now be a villain, even that guy in a power ranger suit, or a ripped link skin, but that doesn't matter I suppose, the rules are broken to such an extent already its negligible who has a Va nowadays. The difference between Vas and MAs is that villain applications allow access to role play, magic applications allow access to a [soon] plugin and roleplay... see what I'm getting at?

2. Stem the hate to the staff.

"But they're not doing their job Arzota!" Yes I'm aware of this very well, but you'll note they're volunteers that do this on their own time and though it may not be a top priority, it's a priority nonetheless, else they wouldn't necessarily be staff would they? Truly, I beleive the amount of trolling and hate just needs to be diminish one way or the other, I know it won't happen, but everyone has a Christmas list yea?

Otherwise, I beleive everything is in order, as someone who has joined in Asulon the server has been taking a nose dive with the whole mechanism switch and what not, without arguing too much these are the only two non-flamey things I suggest to make the server a bit of a better place. Rp-Rpg may be the new feel, but all must remember those who joined in the heat of Rp default for everything, not just the Ageis veterans or the mixed noobs.

2. Stem the hate to the staff.

If anything, I'd rather there be more hate towards the staff. Every time somebody defends the staff, they're likely attacking another player. The staff are (supposed to be) composed of mature individuals that can handle hatred, criticism and mindless bickering. We volunteer full aware that hatred is what's in store for us, the players don't join the server to receive any of that.

We are your hatred sponge. Hate us. Hate us so you don't hate each other.

Thank you, yet this:

 made me cringe a bit.

This viewpoint isn't constructive. There are few reasons to hate staff, and those reasons should be a mere disagreement on viewpoint. An individual is in a state of decay if they must hate someone, or there is something incredibly wrong with the server and/or community.

Or y'know we could all love eachother or something, radical idea I know.

This is a problem we'll inevitably have to deal with yes. I think the MAs should come back but in a much simpler form. Write a short app of the subtype of magic you want to learn, get accepted, boom. Donesies. RP it however you want. No tiers. This is just to control who HAS magic and who gets the plugin.

Okay, Viper asked for links to threads showing popular ideas in the community and then that would be what they discuss. Ideas with a lot of support behind it with proof via polls and threads. Since I only saw like one person actually do this, I'm going to post the threads that show player support, that I personally support as well.

A newer thread but I would like to see Catapults implemented into LotC, it would add a whole new level of awesome to our wars... but maybe that's just the orc in me talking^^

http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/101629-catapults/

When it comes to magic, I think a combination of these two ideas might work:

http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/101844-idea-who-gets-access-to-the-magic-plugin/

http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/101663-whitelisted-subtypes/

Not sure if I support it or not but it does touch on a good point:

http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/101495-limitationremoval-of-many-aspects-of-combative-rp-or-the-need-for-it/

Interesting topic on eliminating currency plugins:

http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/100714-eliminating-currency-plug-ins/

A support or don't support thread for Villian Apps (I support them, don't hate >.<):

http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/101949-what-to-do-about-villain-applications-community-poll/

Maybe a solution to the "Too Many Zombiez" Problem?

http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/99722-40-professions-and-expereince-gain-poll/?mode=show

I think this might help improve some race's lack of RP or RP that is to few and far between - Don't hate me, I think it's a good idea >.<
