A new trade is proposed to Cuba, that they would trade Sugar and oranges for Sulfur. With the increase in population, Jacob extended the farm land, in mainland Texas and Florida. Copper mined in Panama is being sent north to be unspooled into the cities future electric system. To take full advantage of the new system, factories are being built to produce clothes, cigars, and processed sugar. ((6 pages)) Furthermore, a drydock is being built to produce metal ships powered by coal or oil. The first ship should be out in almost two years. ((10 pages)) Rey Fernando has decreed that all of the kingdoms shall use a common currency; the Veracruz Royal. They will be minted from silver mined in kingdom by it's second class citizens, the Peninsulares, those descended from the barbarians. Once the coins have begun being minted, the Tercios will escort shipments of the coins to the Viceroys of Havana, Panama, and San Fernando, as well as shipping some to the Union in the North to bring the two nations closer together. ((3 pages)) ~Yucatan~ The area, currently overseen by a Viceroy loyal to the Crown, is mostly populated by the Peninsulares second-class citizens who work in the rolling corn fields and rich gold and silver mines of the region. Expensive woods such as mahogany are being harvested as the land is cleared to furnish the capital of Veracruz. ~Panama~ The rural parts of Panama are much the same as Yucatan, with the copper mines being the chief source of material income. However, on the banks of the straight a fortress city is being constructed called Santiago. A large part of the Tercios will operate here, as well as being the home of the fleet. Construction begins immediately. ((6 turns)) ~Havana~ After the major destruction during the siege of Havana, the city is slowly rebuilding itself. The loss of status as capital of the kingdom was a huge hit, but the island and city remain the center of sugar, tobacco, and cotton production, fueling much of the nation's economy. It should be back in full working order soon enough. ((3 pages)) ~San Fernando~ The ammo and rifle factory has been completed, and is currently popping out box upon box of ammo for the military's new and improved carbines and rifles. The farming operation continues to expand to support a larger population. A fortress on the river is also being constructed out of brick and concrete to protect against hostile fleets. ((3 pages)) ~Status of the Kingdom~ Population- 250,000, room for 350,000 Military- 23,000 riflemen -1 metal frigate -13 wooden sloops At peace ~Diplomacy/Trade~ THE UNION- Shipments of sulfur, tobacco, sugar, and clothing are sent up the river in return for coal and iron. Patrols also continue to guard the Mississippi from pirates. Envoys are also sent requesting a listing of young women from the current Consul's family. WARDOM OF NEW ENGLAND- An envoy of the kingdom is sent up to New England on rumors from Union traders. They seek to learn about this new kingdom. AUSTRALIA- The king reaffirms ties with his faraway friends and offers new deals on ammunition and precious metals. He also introduces the Australian diplomats to the Tercios and the new ways of the world... EVERYONE- All who pass through the Strait of Santiago are subject to having their vessels searched. All who pass through the strait must dock in the city of Santiago. All metal goods which pass through the strait are subject to tax or confiscation. The Tercios will maintain orderly trade through the United Kingdom without question. Any goods being sold in the United Kingdom without the stamp of the Tercios is to be confiscated. Secondly, missionaries of the Church are sent out to all nations which the United Kingdom currently knows of. Their death will be considered an act of war. The current Consuls has only two young sons, but the competitor for the title in the next election has a girl of age 17. The Union asks that the Pope elect a Bishop and several clergy to officially represent the church in the Northern nation. Trades gained from the Cubans to the south are given to the Wardom, and goods from there are traded back to the United Kingdom. The Union makes a massive profit from this by acting as a middle man, although it is careful to give each country it's fair due. The Union asks that the United Kingdom allow for a colony of settlers to be established farther down the Yucatan, but above the Panama canal. Trade with other nations continues, and the Australian ships are stopped in Newcastle for mercantile reasons. There, they are informed of the wardom to the East, and it's potential lucrative goods. It had been more then a year since the war had begun, and little ground had been taken since. But now, the time had come. The Taiwanese were starving, low in munitions, and generally lacked moral. Meanwhile Honshu forces were well armed, clothed, and fed. The final assault, the one that would end the filthy scum was upon them all. The first of several small raiding parties clash with Taiwanese guards are launched in order to the soften the front line. The line manages to hold for a few hours before finally falling in. Their positions were compromised, and the Taiwanese had no where to run. The final battle, which would come to be called the Battle of Nantou, was little more then an outright slaughter as the bulk of the defending army was reduced to rationing what little ammunition they had. Their surrender came at the early hours of the next day, light snow floating down on the white flag that the Taiwanese messenger carried. Resistance was practically nullified by the mass starvation that was so wide spread. Occupation would be harsh, but not directly because of the Honshu. For their endless resistance, farms and other essential areas would not be repaired, and food stocks are confiscated. Resistance would not be tolerated under any circumstances, they would be punished severely by nature itself... -=- It was time for a new era to unfold across Japan and her territories. With the acquisition of both Australian land and Taiwan, nationalism is at an all time high. The Republic's head of state, Hisahito Ashikino, decrees throughout Japan and her colonies that the imperial bloodline had been traced to his family line. With this, the Honshu Republic comes to an end, and the Imperial Honshu Federation rises with the proclamation of Emperor Ashikino. -=- Blue prints to the Type 96 and 45 Japanese howitzers are found filed away in a forgotten museum, with several prototype displays having remained intact. Prototypes are analyzed, and with the blueprints, improvements on the designs are made. It will take several months before a working model can be put into production [1]. Several factories are tasked with producing their shells in the mean time. The shell designs are delivered to the Australian Kingdom as well, in order to maximize efficiency. Forts continue to be built in the mainland Asian colony, with a large garrison stationed in the region. Honshu builders begin to construct forts in the north of Thai land in order to ensure their future safety. Training exercises with the Thai begin as well, to aid in developing a modern fighting force. Mining continues to bring rich resources to the empire, with a large surplus of oil being stockpiled. Plans for the first use of the warships are drafted. -=- Several metal clad frigates sail towards the America's, filled with supplies and settlers. They head for the western portion of the Panama Strait, armed with maps from the returning mappers. They arrive in the land and settle down, laborers from Taiwan cutting away at jungle in the area. They now had an established outpost in the region, as well as holding a part of the Panama Strait. Contact with the Sikh Confederacy, Ethiopia, and Egypt is made. News start to spread that the young queen of Burma has been staying at the Grand palace at Ayutthaya for a extended period of time[Days],and that a marriage has been discussed there. I might also add that a helicopter is sort of ridiculous.] Russia: It appears that this sort of technology is far beyond the capabilities of the current inhabitants of Russia. The researchers are advised to scrap the project as the computer is effectively destroyed from attempts at disassemble. Those nearest to the eastern border can feel... something. Something large is coming their way. New Haven Yelling in some odd dialect of Russian, the sound of metal bouncing is heard. A sudden explosion knocks several men off their feet, and a group of 9 raiders appear from the shadows outside of the tunnel. They open fire on the rescue crew before making a swift retreat, disappearing into the underbrush of what appeared to be a thick forest. As she begins to talk the national translator begins to speak in your native tongue. "People of Iceland, and those who may be viewing in another country, I bring you breaking news! There has been a successful militia take over of the eastern island of Iceland. I repeat, the eastern island of Iceland is under the leadership of a militia leader known as 'Commander Sky' and has already begun to change how the island is behaving. As more information comes, I shall report it!" Almost instantly the reporter gets cut off, not thinking anything more of it, your local news station continues on about local news. Until, a good five hours later the reporters stop talking and stair out into the camera, as if listening into their earpieces and hesitantly begin to speak. The translator following suit. "Uh, well we have some more news but before we move onto it, we advise that all people prone to panic attacks are to change the channel or leave the room right now" A couple minutes of silence passes until the following pops on the screen, and a voice appears behind it. The voice a very rough and deep sounding one, with a thick Icelandic accent. As he begins to speak, your translator follows suit but is hesitant. "Good afternoon people of my home land, Iceland. I am Commander Sky, leader of the snæland Militia Force. I have come to you today to introduce myself as the new leader of the eastern island of Iceland, which from now and until the end of time shall be known as 'snæland'." A brief five seconds of silence ensues, merely for dramatic effect. They hail them in mandarin, shouting for them to state their business. Both of the ships have trained .50 caliber machine guns trained on the ship, as well as 2-way-radios, informing the mainland of the ship's presence. The order is given to the Australian ship to follow them to port. Once at port, the Australian's would observe a beautiful, nearly entirely refurbished Tianjin, a soft electric glow coming from some of the largest of the buildings. As the group would board vehicles, inbound for the Imperial palace, they would see large amounts of everyday life, as well as guards. Soon they are in Beijing, after a drive along a nearly entirely paved highway. They would notice the massive amounts of weapons, notably the Type 24 and Sten machine gun. Once they reach the palace, they would meet with the Premier and his guards. The Premier stands up to greet them, shake their hands, and then says "What brings you to the glorious People's Republic of China? As you can see, we are doing very well, and would be willing to trade should you have what we need." The Brothers of Stalingrad The scouts report back to Stalingrad, a grim look on their faces. Their faces are pale, almost as if they had seen a ghost. The men report that there is a massive horde gathering, the have just crossed the Urals and are approaching. Soon, more travelers from further east enter the city, giving terrible reports of death and terror that was brought upon their settlement by this horde. A horde of Mongols... Any survivors is welcomed into the new colony (if any) the colonist also declared the Shetlands a part of Scotland. A letter is then send to King George about their success. Meanwhile King George receives word from his the scout team in southern Scotland. He orders them to find refuge in Edinburgh, due to the coming Radioactivity. If that was not enough, words of a heavy snow comes in. King George sees the optimism in the cloud breaking up into parts, and perhaps other parts went south,east and west, but that is a matter for another time. All people is advised to stay low, while the winter and radioactivity passes. He also appoints a Duke to to "Lothian" (all of southern Scotland) but to show everybody of the Womens new rights, he appoints his nieces "Princess Sophia" as the duke of the province. Making her heard of the rebuilding of the province. -Ethiopia Word is send to the Ethiopia of both the advancements of the state, and the upcoming winter and radioactivity. Warning them to have any transport or ship stay home, due to that the sailors may get sick. -Research Once again, a way to kill the cloud is being researched into. (unknown among of pages) As soon as the winter is gone, a team of researchers and soldiers on about 100 men (with hazard suits) will be send to the Province of Lothian (mostly Edinburgh) and begin to attempt to find a way to "kill the cloud." The trip is kept a secret in order to prevent Bavarian nationals from attacking the Chancellor's train. The harsh winter weather providing cover as the train moves through the south German country side. Soon, the train is outside the shadow of a beautiful city, it's outline silhouetted against the rising sun in the East. The first group of 500 men move out through the city, securing it's streets one by one on their way to the Austrian Parliament. Then, the Chancellor is escorted to the Schonbrunn Palace. The city is quickly claimed by the South German Federation, small scale generators powering the two landmarks. Soon, the majority of the South German Bundestag was based out of Vienna and in an elegant ceremony, the South German capital is moved to Vienna and the project to add an electrical grid to most major cities is added to Vienna and Wien (+20 more pages for the next 2 cities). The electrical grid is complete in Koblenz, most buildings now powered by hydroelectric power from several miniature plants along the river. Soon Heidelberg, Munich, and Mannheim and most other major cities will have soft electric power thanks to the massive amounts of copper mined in the Rhineland. Snow blankets the coast and a large trading ship with numerous goods is also docked beside a large wooden Navy ship... which is currently being loaded with cannons, ammo, and goods. A Navy Fort appears to be under construction as well, with tents in between W.I.P walls. The Men from the United Kingdom and the traders/diplomats from Australia are brought through the snow by silent armed guards dressed in wolf pelts. The foreigners enter a freezing cold, cramped military style jeep. As they zoom down the snowy roads, a plow affront the jeep keeps them from getting lodged in the white mess. Two escort vehicles accompany the group on either side, each with a serious look on every warrior's face. After driving through the night the foreigners approach a large fort city... A small guard force opens the gate and as the diplomats file in large ranks of military stand at the ready, as if expecting an attack from these diplomats. The diplomats are brought to a man in armor and wolf skin, strolling around with a gun strapped to his back... he beckons them further and then speaks. "I am Ebb Of Boston. Warrior King Of New England. I wish to further the relations between our nations but lets hope you.... don't make any stupid decisions while staying here." Flanked by two armed guards the King brings the diplomats to his special room in the Coliseum where a fight with a bear and two slaves armed with pitch forks ensues. Watching the fight intently the King speaks to the diplomats, missionaries, and traders around him. "So we may speak of trade, politics, religion, and anything else your country has sent you 'ere to speak of... enjoy the show and free refreshments as you do so." Other Faction News: ~Military~ The Navy's largest ship has been constructed and loaded with cannons, many schooners and other smaller vessels are being produced as well. Weapon production slows as the mines begin to freeze due to low temperatures. ~Economy~ Trade around the Wardom halts but smaller businesses flourish among the settlements... getting much more local customers than usual. A small factory is being built where the government hopes to build firearms and ammo with plans and materials gained from their allies. For Queen Thirisanda has taken King Hiroshashi for her husband, bringing their two kingdoms together. Bonfires have been lit in villages all over the two kingdoms, and all were merry.Upon the Union of the two Royal families, the newly wed couple declared several projects to be started. These would be for the betterment of both nations and would greatly improve the unity of the two peoples.The first on the scedule was the construction of a railroad between the capitals of the two kingdoms. It would offer a great many jobs to those of the Burmese population who lost their job, due to the improvement in their agriculture. Even the expansion of the farms couldn't deliver enough jobs. This was the perfect opportunity. (3 pages)Other jobs to find for those without one was becoming a soldier. The Burmese had realised that their army would be too small to hold out against the military of any of the other nations. Therefore they would recruit another 10 000 soldiers.These new recruits were trained in traditional Burmese style with high discipline and cooperation. However they would also be trained in the Thais style so the armies of the two nations could work together more efficiently. (4 pages)The last thing would be that one of the tank-turrets, situated on the towers of the Burmese royal palace would be taken and transported to Thailand, where men with more knowledge of guns could reverse-engeneer the monstrosity. This would be a benefit to both kingdoms and improve their defensibility. Draeris 3124 Share Posted January 22, 2014 The African Kingdom The merge between the two kingdoms brought benefits, power, but also new problems & challenges to be overthrown. Caïro was in its original state, north side with layers of water. Up the hill broken homes & abandoned and overgrown streets. Only the mosque in the central square stood, and had gone through repairs and maintance. The Egyptians prepared for the arrival of their new leader, Haile Selassie. Fortunatly, hunger would not be a problem with the river of the nile bringing furtile lands. The prophecy told that the world would end one day, and for the world it happened. Egypt was like Scotland a project, a challenge for Ethiopia to civilize and make stronger. The first project was to secure the surplus food of the African kingdom, and that was by improving the agriculture of Egypt. Canals are being dug to increase the furtile land, and seeds are planted more effective. ((3 pages)) As all African citizens are required to fill out the same form the Ethiopian ones did, the goverment gets into a struggle on what capital, what system and how to keep control of the population. A centralized goverment is necessary, and reformations are made. Firstly, a civillian ministry is appointed to make sure that the people remain happy and heard. Secondly, the kingdom had an upper council to make sure the aristocracy of the African Kingdom remains in tact. Controlling the population however, was another story. With the enlarged military from 12,000 to 21,000 there was still gaps on security. And what if they went to war with the Scottish or Australians in the future? Two things became implented. Civil service, and civil watch. The Civil Service would be implented in a month or so, and make every capable and avaidable man and woman to be trained like regulars. However, the working population is left untouched. Expected is that 30,000 people are avaidable for civil service, and would be under training and civil projects like making ships or repairing structures. Civil watch however, exists out of people who occasionally travel through the African kingdom & cities. These would be armed with sabre & short-saw musket, and keep the order when the guard cannot. Expected is that a mere 8000 from the 30.000 is avaidable to become a civil watchmen. The printing press increased, and made sure that more books could be printed on a fast rate. This was all powered with the increasing mill construction and coal plant. However, Ethiopia was in need of fast and public news. Attempts to repair this "Television" failed horribly, destroying the TV totally. So they resided to a new, fresh alternitive. They called it "Informative Paper", however, in the folks tongue it was called News paper. In the Egyptian region, functional and stabilization repairs are made to its coal mine. ((6 pages?)) With the desire for colonization, several ships are made from the African coast to sail to their new future destination. ((3 pages)). The new rifles are completed and being produced. With the factory the iron can be forged faster and more precise, making it more perfected and easy to hold. The new zooming glass in implented, and is perfect to look focused at a foe. Talks with Australia continues, the battle on the nearby industrial terrain is lost. It was a stalemate of 200 regulars from each side. After that a diplomat is send to Ethiopia for peace talks, terms are unknown yet ((mod tell me )) The boats become common travel between Ethiopia, Bahrain & Egypt. These three are now major trading posts. The population in Scotland of Ethiopians slowly die off, but with the acquired Hazmat suits the new traders do not become affected by the diseased crowd when going on shore. It slowly loses its grip on Scotland, and instructions are written for if the whole population really dies off. A ship is send to the old colony of Serbia, with shock they saw blood and burned stripes everywhere. Blue lights could be seen on the horizon. The colonists immidiatly went back on their ship, only to go to their next position, the old lands of Greece. This was expected to be replacing the Serbian colony. It was cold there, but the coast remained warm enough to survive. A quick fortification is build to found a city later on. ((1 pages)) Meanwhile, the regulars are being armed better. To catch up with the properly armed Mehal Sefari, a new sort of batallion arises. Quick, enduring and brutal. The Hussarians are heavy armoured riders who have acces to a handmade Hemlock Pistol & Lance. They ride on horses or camels, and will be used in the vanguard. The 4000 regulars without horses are being armed to walk with more lighter armour. The Hussarians are different from eachother. The royal guard is decorated and always horsed, the vanguards heavily armoured and intimidating. The Centurions are walking and basicly armed. A civillian made a painting when he saw them in training. Coin improvements are made with the better powering & perfection of the pressing machines. The coin is far more elegant, and shows the head of Selassie and the symbol of the African kingdom, the proud lion. Meanwhile, the first official academy of Philosophy & Science is made in Addis Ababa. The educated children go their with the small fees required to pay. There, they work on elite and pressured circumstances. Educating the children to maximum possible. With the people re-inventing new things again, like gravity and chemistry. They write new books with the coalition of teachers and students. Education becomes a prime aspect now. Meanwhile, with the advancing on methods to create paper and coin. The lumbercutters are able to make thicker paper and coartboard, making it able to make proper books and for the first time.. boxes! Better books are made, and are coloured with the artists who use dyes from natural resources avaidable to the people. With geography people can easily find faster routes and get ideas of unexplored lands. The construction of a new, majestic religious centre is build for philosophers & priests to handle in. This will be a massive project, but would raise morale and happyness to the African people, showing them how wonderous their kingdom actually is. Their love was forged on the battlefield and in normal Wardom customs they will help each other survive against waves of Gladiators in the Coliseum. After the royal bloodshed a great after party will be held, sacrifices to Mars and vows of Matrimony will also occur. Please attend this wedding of great proportions and show your respect to the great Warrior King and his Warrior Queen. Iron will soon be flowing throughout the wardom, once this happens bronze in the empire will begin to be used as other materials, not weapons. DigitalRescue 4 Share Posted January 22, 2014 HORNED MEN OF ICELAND Scavengers and their trailing caravans lead down to the coast, salvaging any and all scrap metal available. Three men freeze to death as a blizzard hits them, but the rest carry on. On the beach they see a peculiar sight - an entire Old Age destroyer, washed up and snapped in half. They walk up and assess it, before salvaging it for it's carry-able metal and searched inside for any information about the old world. They come back, their caravans stacked with tonnes of metal, where they are gifted and treated to the hot lagoons found in the volcano to prevent them from freezing to death. On Svalbard, the long mining operations are stopped for the winter. Tonnes of coal were sent to Iceland in the last few months, along with hoards of gold ready to be smelted. The colony huddles together, large bonfires held every night to prevent death. Outside, the 'Black Fields' of coal collect snow, only one of the three pit mines running out of coal. Iron ore is also sent back on the ships, and mining will continue after the winter. Meanwhile, Queen Amelia hears by word of mouth of the "Militia" on the East Island.
