Oren Feedback Thread.

My opinion, as a former Human role-player that did it quite extensively for one or so years, think that it's slipping back into noble-based rp that makes its rp more decentralized, taking away from what Havenok did by removing almost every village and town and removing nobles. I think it'd be great if you could somehow prevent that slow decay.

When Mogroka left, with most of our population back at that point it seemed like the only logical thing to do, a lot of nobles without the levy numbers to support the land, all our nobles with land are able to provide the levies required for battle, having mass groups of people within Oren expecting to gain something only to be told "no" is not something I want to do. Makes sense to have some a few small towns/villages so that people may visit rather than be stuck in a capital all day with nowhere to visit.

4.0 will be a lot different though rest assured. Not revealing any plans yet but if it succeeds. Many people will find Oren a very enjoyful place to be. :)

As I see Oren improve, but there are some problems that keeps me away from the city, and why it is losing players to the conclave.

While Oren has a massive playerbase, only your close-tied 'cult' alike group keeps it alive. There is no liberty, and the roleplay standards set only reduce the RP avaidable.

For example, every mention of magic, healing or even medical experience I get some guard of Saint Lucien or Abresi running upstairs to slay me for herecy, since that trend started to not only evolve with me but also with the people around me, I don't visit Abresi much anymore. But it is not only that, Oren misses the feeling of immersion when it comes to citizens. The playerbase is often spread, and roleplaying individually in secret in their upper floors. When I think kingdom, I see people working in farms, tailor shops spinning and people preaching all different kinds of things. Oren has criminals, guards invading your privacy and people running around to somewhere unknown.

Further, like Jens stated, there is just a far too big "Live to win mentality". Afcourse Oren is the biggest empire due a large portion playing humans, but that does not mean that one should attempt to win LotC. You can't win LotC, you can be part of a story. The arrogance of some Oren officials is something that is remarkable compared to other nations, as far as I know the former Medi'ir (Sorry Aherals but I ain't remembering this) of the Silver City is even less arrogant than some importnant human figures I met, and when you notice that something could be definetly wrong.

Overall I also agree  with Bickando on this one. The Nobility only motivates people to win so that they can become it to, and that is a factor that is better when it does not exist. A royal family is sure, but do we really need houses manipulating the whole roleplay scene in their own way? It would be cool if it was fun, but it decentralizes roleplay.

Even though people like Senda, Lark and Knox do their best to improve Oren, it still seems so dire when you look at it. Because its dominance in numbers it actually stops the growth of some new factions, or change. Oren should remind itself that even though it has dominance does not mean they necessarily should PvP their way to victory with no caring for other factions/factors as well.

But that is just my opinion!

The most amount of killing should be taking place in Wars and the battlefield - not the street of a city.

1. Get your Guards to all know their stuff.

2. Start using language as a cultural tool - it's very powerful. Orcs have Blah, Dwarves have their secret language, Elves have...Elvish, and even the Anadunai have Anadunie. What language do Humans have? I mean, you /can/ use Google translate then PM the English translation.

3. Flaunt your culture hardcore, there's nothing wrong with doing that. But - Flaunting does not mean violent spread of it. Be proud of it, but not enough to kill a man over it.

Everyone seems to forget that Oren isn't just made up of one culture. It is made up of many different cultures.

What? I thought the Raevir/Kraltan/whatever did a Cultural genocide on good old Multicultural Oren.

A stricter King would be better, I realize that you need to have fun but its very difficult to find you in any one place and when we do find you, you're either aimlessly running around or doing some trolly RP. So a more /serious/ Heinrik is all we really need, kind of like Godfrey...

Still the 2nd best ruler Oren has ever had, behind Seigmund

Love old time buddy

Hogvir ;) xx

Aye, agreed. To rule a playerbase, you need to be the guy who takes no **** - being responsible and resolute.

The King himself needs to set an example OOCly. I'm sorry for generalizing but all I do is see you post trolly/flamey comments on warclaims or conflict threads. I very rarely see you in game.

As for Oren itself, I think you exist more for RP and smaller scale interactions than war and winning. I recently joined the Lucienists on an alt account, and so far I'm having a blast and the people are nice, but I did notice that no one really interacts with each other in RP that much until it's time to armour up and kill things.

(This is probably because I play a elven character, but nonetheless)

Almost every single interaction I have had with human characters has been "Minas or die" and its rather frustrating. I understand that some of this is cultural and or a characters dislike for certain races- But I would at least appreciate more than "Minas or Die"

One time this happened and my internet crashed- I had my roommate (who was traveling with me) oocly tell them I would be back in a second- and they just walked away. We weren't worth their OOC time and even they didn't want to continue the role play after "Hand over your armor"

When I was playing a human character- She stumbled around Abresi for a few hours during a relativity active time and no one spoke to her. I got literally no interaction until I returned a few days later with an Orc escorting her, and only really got RP because I knew exactly who to go to and who I wanted to talk to.

Sorry if this is Rambly, I'm a little frazzled currently with IRL things

The Minas or die thing is a "House Thorne" thing whom are a bunch of Bandits and aren't with us in any way. We actually do our best to hunt them and kill them. But on the second point I admit that's true, it's hard to get RP in Abresi unless you already know and are friends with a good portion of the people in it already.

This is something I can agree on when it comes to Oren, it is a nation with many cultures and it is up to all the different cultures to try and flaunt their individual culture. The Raevir are really good at this but most of the cultures in Oren has sort of faded since the old days and it feels like almost everything but Kralta has turned into the regular "Renatian" culture.

For example is the Stafyrs who are Northerners with Hansetian origin and based slightly around IRL Rhinelanders in many senses, we had a period where we started to try and build up a form of culture of it but faded (Something I am considering redoing) or the Bristric culture who had a period where they were really good at this but that as well faded.

So my suggestion is for the people in Oren who are leaders of certain cultures and groups (Including myself) to try and increase the showing of their cultures and build a stronger focus around their culture, this would in my opinion lead to more diverse styles of RP.

Other then that, most "agressive" trolls that trolled everyone and anyone are now gone from Oren and most of the people  that troll only do it with people that they know well OOCly and in close enviroments.

With the regards of people wanting to do magic and such in Oren, I would refer to an old system with magic licenses that Oren once had where people that wanted to use magic had to aquire a license to use magic which made it legal and could be shown to a guard. This was a way to monitor people that used magic in the nation which to me is understandable to keep track of in RP.

I am unsure if that system is in any form of function today due to it not being mentioned in quite some time but it is a system I would propose for the church and if they decide not to implement it, the privy council.

Some magic will however always be outlawed in Oren such as necromancy, due to logical reasons.

Knox, Cracker, Senda and many others has worked very hard to improve Oren and the general look on the nation I think the fact that this feedback thread was made is a good testimony of that and I would like to give them huge props on their work so far.

As rain stated, to truly be a good leader on LoTC you need to influence your playerbase IC, as well as setting/encouraging higher standards OOC'ly.

Yeppers, I got frustrated after emoting (my character was blind at the time) for hours and just switched back dwyn

I can at the very least say they did not have their names set as Thorne when things happened, I think onlyyyy once i was minas or died'd by a thorne and that was because I was being silly and walking around in full armor alone, the person was actually more reasonable then some other players I've ran into. (He asked for my armor and weapon, aswell as some money, my character ICly mumbled about how silly this was and they chose to just take my armor)

I've pretty much stopped playing my Human because it just wasnt as fun, maybe thats just because I've always loved elves (And in almost every game I play I get a little too excited about their lore- Have you read bosmeri lore in TES? Oh my goddddd its amaziiiing)

I once again apologize if I get offtopic, its the way I talk sometimes especially in the morning when I'm more derpy.
