With the tensions causing high risks in investment banking, investors turn to Iran’s vehicle & agricultural industry. Both having been in a long rivalry with the Illyrian industry taking the majority of the customers in Europe. Advertisement campaigns & media briberies are used to ensure publication of Iran’s recogniseable industry, which comes with a big price tag.

 

 

Meanwhile, government hackers keep a close eye on transactions from foreign corporations. A census is made of civilians being able to hack into foreign accounts & networks as the government implements structure in a future battalion.

 

 

Borders, fortified & closed, are monitored 24/7 as the army within train for a future offensive. Budgets in military & infrastructure is leveled sincerely.  Laws are loosened and the Sharia law is adapted to make the people more pleased with their liberty.

 

 

The government is not afraid to use fraud towards US stocks, having developed clever ways to make a transaction but then withdraw the money after, leaving the owner with no product nor price. It first was done once a year, but it became once a week. The government should notice this new activity in their stock exchanges soon. ( Like, now.)

 

Meanwhile, Ahmadinejad spoke about courage & hope to the caliphate refugees in the ‘Red-zone’ Bint Jbeil.

The Socialist Union of Nordic States

Greenland, a vast, barren but resource-rich land comparable to Siberia, had gone untapped for too long. A large immigration program accompanies by propaganda is initiated to try and increase the population at a new port beginning construction on the east side near Iceland. Counselling is offered to everyone in Greenland to try and cut the suicide rate. The agriculture industry is increased comparatively largely there, with the GMO crops allowing food to actually be grown in Greenland, rather than caught. Mainly though, island-wide prospecting begins, and the mining industry is heavily developed on already found resources, such as gems and metals. A sense of purpose and drive begins to take hold of the population of Greenland as the Union develops the small island in leaps.

With 2 large research projects out of the way, two new ones are lined up. The first project is mag-rails, extremely high speed transport that would be used for industry and civilian benefit. They would go from Northern Norway to South of Denmark's European mainland. Another begins construction in Greenland, from Nuuk straight across to the new port, which has been named Alianaappoq. The other project is a type of modular dropship. It would function as a traditional dropship, transporting troops, but also be capable of functioning as a mobile drone platform, with a 2 or 3 man crew, with two pilots and a maintenance / repair crew member when drones are the package. It would have automated defense systems, featuring an anti-anti-air trophy system and armour-piercing minigun turrets. These defense systems and additional guidance would be "manned" by the French-made VI. ((4 pages until prototype construction))

The Oceanic Imperium

 

 

As global tensions calm down, imperial troops withdraw from the middle east, transferring control of Iran to the new government, though imperial oil interests are still maintained. All other Imperium-occupied territories in the area are transferred to moderate self-governance, though all these governments keep close relations with the Imperium. A large military base is kept on the western edge of Yemen, to guard the Red ea.

 

As neutrality has been preserved, the Imperium is able to focus on expanding its military and growing rapidly in strength. As its research projects are hurried to completion, the army grows by millions, and no less than 300 Kiamat tanks are commissioned for the future. The armies of the Imperium are now reaching an overwhelming size and strength, enough to crush any nation on earth, provided a route of invasion could be made.

 

The Overlord MKII AI system is finally released. Accompanied by a sturdier, faster overlord drone, it allows for more advanced communication between unmanned vehicles. A squadron of drones now functions more as a single organism than a group of fighters, and vehicle for vehicle they can surpass any human-piloted fighter.

 

The outbreak in Mumbai is noted by local officials, but as of now it is not widespread enough to merit further response.

The facility by now was quite sizable: most of it was underground of course, but it was handling many projects at once. The scientists here were journeying into uncharted areas.

The Republic of Finland

 

 

Sighs of relief go out across the country as SU troops retreat back across the border. Finland had retained its independence, but President Sauli was displeased. Finnish troops had valiantly defended their borders, but the only thing that saved them was a conference they had no part in. He would not let that happen again. Finnish research goes into development of special suits designed for the cold and dark, snowy Finnish land - , masks that would prevent succumbing to gas or chemical attacks, and small-engine assisted boots that would allow the troops to sprint across the snow at speeds as fast as skis. Small generators are strapped to their backs and linked to their boots, goggles, and gloves. The gloves would hold a communicator and matches. The suits would require refueling once every two days though. (Tech boost used). METO is asked for the blueprints to new guns to support Finnish independence as well. Finland's production centers begin to produce these new suits custom to troops, while new mines are opened up across the northern, mostly uninhabited but resource rich land. Many materials are used for the new suits, purified in Finland's choice ironworks include steel and other iron alloys. Many Finnish civilians are also outfitted with these suits across the country in case of an emergency, and all are taught how to use it. Rocket launchers are attached to most military jet skis.

In response to the outbreak of the international virus, Finland shuts down borders, airports, and docks.

 

Finland promises all nearby countries that it will stay basically neutral and not join alliances or unions as long as it is not attacked.

Russia

With the nations accepting the peace treaty, the Slavic Union found itself at peace once more. Recalling it's troops from Poland and Eastern Rusdia, President Ivan set forth to improve Russia from the inside. The idea of a united Slavic Union began to spread as members of the Union shared in the prosper of new time peace. From there, Ivan set to work.

Russian engineers begin creating moveable artillery that can fire medium sized missiles accurately over a large range quickly. Using radar tracking, the artillery could move across terrain and fire at enemies over 3 miles away accurately. They called it "Hellfire", and it fit it's name rightly.

Ivan looked east at much of the uninhibited lands. Granted much of it was cold forests, but beneath lie something of great value. Oil. Setting out companies for the oil and timber, small communities began to dot up in eastern Russia. These new products were traded with other countries to stimulate the Russian economy which now had access to the Black Sea.

Not only are new technological advancements made, but many of the Russian fleets and tanks and scraped for newer models being produced. A currency is made for the Slavic Union of good value called the Slava. This leads to a better sense of unity throughout the Slavic Union as it does well during this time of peace.

The world is in shock as a virus outbreak is on the go. Do we have it under control like Ebola, or is it spiraling out of control? Here in the studio is Mark Ross, virology specialist for the university of Indianapolis. Thank you for joining us this hour.

What are we seeing with this outbreak?

 

 

"Well after Ebola we seem to have more caution towards viruses become more active. I am shocked however how passive the governments act towards this one. When Ebola broke out, everybody was in fear that the world would end. Now we see that people are confident and underestimating this virus. With infections beyond control in Mexico City, Mumbai & New Dehli, and some cases in London, we can safely assume this is a crisis."

 

 

But after the Ebola outbreak the international community has been working on better vaccines & containment methods. Iran closed it's borders, bigger differences between climates and many exceptional superpowers present in the scene. What do you think about the lethality of this virus and, is it really out of control?

 

 

"Well, you say that assuming that unaffected superpowers would actually do something about the outbreak. With the current cold diplomatic climate and an ever growing population it is less secure than it seems Research shows, although vague, that 70 to 90% get infected by this virus. This, in Mexico city. What I suggest is closing our borders, stop international transport and await a strong vaccine to be developed by a collective of nations. This way, we can beat the virus just like we have beaten Ebola."

Greater German Empire

 

 

War had been missed by the skin of their teeth. Admiral Fitzburg was close to telling his ships of the German Baltic Navy to sink the Russian transport vessels before they made it to main land Poland. General Herr had scrambled the air force, and had the Russian advancing men in sight - about to light up the land like a Christmas Tree. Commander Schieffler gave the order to load the French Napoleon-IIs, so very close to blowing the Russian armies to smithereens. Then they all heard that the War was not happening, and in turn all sighed - in disbelief, gratefulness or disappointment. The German Second and Third Armies moved back to Greater Germany, lucky to have not lost a single man. 

 

Deep within the mountains of Austria, thousands of scientists cheer and clap. Their project for the last twenty-odd years had finally been complete. Supreme Chancellor Hans Wulfgang looks out on weapons that would protect his nation for hundreds of years with pride. The "H2-AH Hornet's Nest" missile pod would defend the country's borders - whether from land, sea or air - from even the most technologically advanced enemies.

The missile pod that would harbor the "Hornet" missiles. Whilst mobile ones can only hold two per vehicle, Wulfgang wants there to be at least one pod per major city in the Greater German Empire, able to hold at least thirty-two missiles, although it is highly likely they'd only be able to afford two long-range missiles per city.

 

 

 

 "Hornet"

 

The H2-HE Hornet missile would be the missiles to destroy an advancing army before they even knew what had hit them. It'd be launched into the air, travelling across the sky at roughly 25,000 ft before opening up it's back and side panels, releasing hundreds of smaller "Swarm" missiles. Once released, those missiles would find their own way down to the target army, whilst the Hornet flies over the target zone. Controlled by the French Virtual Intelligence, it would - when ready - drop at a 90 degree angle, slamming into the target army at hypersonic speeds, and creating the largest non-nuclear explosion known to man.

 

 

 

"Swarm"

 

 

The first section of the missile would open up, releasing roughly 250 HE missiles into the air, which would acquire their targets using the French made Virtual Intelligence. This would lead to flight corrections, and dynamic reactions to situations. Freefalling through the air, each one would be invisible to radar, with no power or heat signature. When finally within roughly 5000 ft of the ground, the now-spread out missiles would engage their single stored electrical fusion engines, thus activating the VI, which would find the 'safest' way to it's target... which could be as small as a pebble. The destructive power of these smaller Swarm missiles are unrivaled for their size - one of them being able to topple a skyscraper. Roughly half of them contain armor piercing, thermobaric heads, making them ideal for punching through enemy tanks. At hypersonic speeds, these missiles can punch through a foot of solid steel before exploding inside, turning oxygen into a long lasting, instant explosion.

The exo-skeleton goes under heavy reformation, to be more protective towards the wearer, be lighter, more cost-effective and allow for enhanced mobility using small jump boosters, like mini turbo engines built into hip packs. A technological boon had managed to ensure the completion of both the Scandinavian and Greenlandic mag-rails a long while before anticipated. Intra-SUNS industry becomes far more efficient, with large amounts of resources able to be transported quickly and cheaply across large distances. The growth in the Greenlandic frontier increases much faster with the mag-rail, with the necessary resources much aside to get to and across Greenland.

The Multi-Function Dropship is also completed and the technology is shared with METO. 200 are commissioned for the NUArF. ((1 page))

The plans for a space-borne project were made long ago, and now an ambitious project receives approval. A mid-orbit modular space station that will be equipped with a defence system to intercept missiles launched on Earth, and a drone launching bay to allow global drone deployment in emergency cases. However, the initial modules will consist of a command centre, crew quarters, biosphere for oxygen and food, and solar generators. ((3 pages until first modules are in orbit and operational))

The Greater Argentine Federation

As the previously on-standby reserved are called in as well, the army swells to field a million men. The economy stalls and starts slowly declining as military funding drastically increases to support the fielding of such an army, yet in the population centers enthusiasm is high and fueled by the propaganda machine. 

 

It was all in preparation for the conflict that could not be stalled any longer. The dam of bureaucracy and threats built by the competent Argentine foreign department could no longer stop the floodwaters of the remaining countries of South America, the pressure for war growing day by day. Finally, war is declared between the USAN and Argentina. Presidente Peròn states privately in a meeting with the USAN leader that "May the best win. The victor shall control our glorious continent." before brusquely exiting to meet with his generals to be informed of the plan.

 

The Argentine forces would stand tight and man the newly built line of defense winding all across the Northern border, nicknamed the 'Muro de Hierro' by it's defenders. A significant portion, 650,000 troops, many veterans from the numerous minor previous Argentine wars, will hold the line against the Lusitanian Union, the nation posing the most dangerous threat to Argentine victory. Along with these troops, 300 of the Overlord drones and 3 Kiamat tanks are secretly positioned a few miles behind the front, ready to pounce when necessary. They are the ace of the Argentinian military and are intended as a morale-smasher, to be used when critically needed. 550 TAM IIs, both the normal and anti-personnel versions, are distributed along the strongholds and further fortify the Argentine positions, forcing attackers into chokeholds where they are easy pickings for air strikes and artillery barrages. 

 

On the Western areas, along the border with Peru, a minor force of 450 TAM IIs, 200 Overlord drones and 2 Kiamat tanks are backing 350,000 Argentine troops, dug in and waiting behind their trenches, walls, bases and towers. It is along this front that the first signs of victory are seen. After 10 days of brutal fighting and significant USAN attacks, the line is holding yet morale is dropping. Argentinians are weary and although their position is superior and the enemy litters the battlefield, each death of their own hits harder than the last as comrade after comrade falls to the numerically superior USAN troops. The battle reaches it's climax on the 11th day of fighting. The USAN generals, frustrated and pressured by their governments to achieve progress, throw everything they have at the Muro de Hierro. As the armada of tanks, anti-personnel vehicles, helicopters and transport vehicles storm towards the first lines of defense, the 200 Overlord drones present in the area are finally deployed. The enemy, unaware that the Argentine forces boasted such an air force extension is taken aback and panic ensues as the drones spit fire and missiles rain from the sky. The rout is complete as the two massive Kiamats storm out to meet the remaining force. Fear grasps the USAN soldiers and they retreat back across the border in disarray. The Argentinians wouldn't wait for a better opportunity. Spearheaded by the Kiamats, they storm across the border, entering Peru and killing or capturing the chaotic resistance. They do not stop until Lima has fallen and the army is knocking on the door of the Venezuelan Republic. A small side force of 50,000 men are meanwhile sent to swipe through Ecuador, occupying the country and digging in on the Northern border. A new defensive line is established in the North of Peru, more hasty defenses and barricades being put up, nowhere as strong as the Murro de Hierro down South. For now, the two Kiamat tanks and half of the Overlord drones in the area are redeployed to the Brazilian border.

 

Meanwhile, because of the global technological advance, production of the top-class Sol-2a and Sol-2b begin, using the first-generation Sol-1s for many materials and parts, thus hastening the production for a cheaper cost. These fighters will be produced about 50-100 ((per page)). A new research process begins, nicknamed the 'Armadura de Dios', an exoskeleton much like the ones deployed by other nations across the globe. Flexible and lightweight, it mainly protects vital organs and features a helmet with an advanced heat-seeking camera and display, used for communications and to aid the wearer's combat ability, recommending targets and tactics. Little attention is paid to the virus outbreaks as most of the hard-hit areas are distant and all eyes are turned on the front and the war. A few areas are quarantined and patients are put in special sections in the hospital, but no special units or extensive limitations on travel are put in place.

United States of America

 

The global economy of the entire world is prosperous and humanity had reached a new age of progress. All of America's previous research projects had finally been finished, along with a new and bolder one. American infantry soldiers were finally equipped with decent body armors and new deadly helicopters, tanks, and the Cyclopes had finished construction - becoming a powerful battlefield drone.

 

 

As America prepares for a human landing on the planet Mars, pre-research and file-digging is completed. Now, the U.S government finished up the ORION project up again - a space capsule designed to land in Mars. The operation ((started page 3)) has been extremely successful, thanks to global advances in technology, and within a month, an American would be sent to space with an objective of landing on Mars. It is announced to the entire world and the astronaut, David Hayes, is broadcast all over the planet. He will be launched from the Kennedy Space Center, in Florida. However, due to the recent viral outbreak, the area is closed off and everyone involved in the project is tested repeatedly to make sure the virus is not present, and then sterilized. The U.S thanks Russia for aid in the project.

 

 

As the virus seems to infect millions of people all over the globe, American doctors start worrying. The CDC begins to research this unknown virus, which they deem an unknown strand of H5N1, or the Avian Flu. Soon even doctors become infected, and the CDC starts preparing for the worst. Researchers are forced to study the virus in Hazmat suits, and it becomes painstakingly slow. Even though there is progress made, America cannot do it alone. The Virus rages through Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and even though it is rarely fatal, it is easy to see new symptoms developing with every new patient. President Baker soon finds himself worrying, as his son becomes infected. Doctors pry his son away from his embrace, and rush him down to a local hospital, and quarantine the Whitehouse. This is no longer just a virus. It is a global epidemic.

Third Mexican Empire

 

With crisis averted, the Mexicans breath a sigh of relief. Though, a pandemic disease has been identified in Mexico City during a check-up. Though the outbreak is highly infective, the mortality rate is low, much to the solace of the country. Infected patients are simply quarantined whilst a cure is developed.

 

Meanwhile, the Coraza project was an astounding success, just months after the construction and testing, a dozen prototypes are released for willing troops to test, however, due to the short time taken, Mexico begins to work on improving the model, such as improving the mobility of the armour by adding jump boosters and decreasing the restriction the user has whilst inside, including expanding on the integrated Viper Shades' HUD (1 page). Mexico has also become increasingly alarmed at the fighting in Latin America and withdraws 45'000 of their 50'000 men from Western Cuba to Panama. The previously dug in 400'000 who were preparing for an eastern defense are also called south. They are then armed with freshly assembled Charlie Rays recently assembled at the factories in preparation for total war. 500 Wolf Tanks are also sent south.

 

Emperor Maximilian also asks the U.S for the new Cyclopes drones and if possible, the blueprints too.

The Oceanic Imperium

 

In Australia, the project inside the restricted area is finally revealed. The best way to describe it is as a massive railgun, pointed into the air. It is long enough to provide massive velocity at the end, but with relatively slow acceleration. The reason for this is simple: to bring the G-force from the acceleration down to a level low enough for human passengers to withstand.

The Emperor himself arrives on the scene the day of the first scheduled use of the device. He is flanked by several badai troopers and takes his seat on a clifftop observatory as the final preparations are made.

Eventually, as the sun gives way to a cloudless night, the time has come to proceed. Three men and two women, all citizens of the Imperium, emerge from a briefing room, and after bowing to the Emperor, board a ship which is attached to the bottom end of the device.

The Garuda MKI is designed to maneuver easily in the vacuum of space, using ion thrusters for both propulsion and course correction, bypassing the traditional gas propellant. It is only lightly armed, with a single recoil-absorbing heavy machine gun which is not expected to be used any time soon. Its main function is transport, and it can hold a crew of up to ten people, plus cargo.

As the moon becomes visible over the horizon, there is a short countdown, and the launch railgun fires, sending the shuttle rocketing down its length and into the sky. A sonic boom rumbles through the area as it disappears above spectator's heads.

As the shuttle launches, several other smaller, though still-massive railguns surrounding the main one also fire, launching ten unmanned Overlord drones into the sky as well. These are modified for space, and are also propelled and steered by ion thrusters. Dubbed simply orbital fighter drones, they are fast, maneuverable, and armed with both a machine gun and the new Hammerhead MKII missiles, whose ranges exceed 800 miles and which have been fitted with extra thrusters to allow them to steer toward their target in space.

Once they escape into orbit, the eleven ships group up and begin their true mission. Flying over North America, they cross paths with the beginnings of the SUNS space station, and circle around it once before continuing, showing off as the marvels of Asian engineering that they are.

From there on they proceed along the scheduled route, the moon growing larger and larger in the pilot's sight. As the shuttle begins to descend to its surface, the drones adopt a holding pattern overhead, as their thrusters are not powerful enough to return from the moon's gravity well on their own. The shuttle, however, lands softly in the center of the Copernicus Crater.

The astronauts on board step out, and for the next few hours, they do fairly little of great importance. The main purpose of the mission had been to prove that this more efficient system of space launches could work. A survey is conducted of the crater, before the imperial flag is planted, and the shuttle once more lifts off, returning to Earth just as the sun rises over Australia.

 

The news the next morning takes the world by storm: a second country has put a man on the moon...

 

Mumbai, Imperial Enclave

Thinking the virus a low-level threat, the Imperium had been late to act, and now they were paying the price. In the slums of Mumbai, the death rate is far higher than in other parts of the world, as nonexistent medical care and poor hygiene multiply the risks. When the problem is finally discovered, samples of the virus are taken and transported to an undisclosed location in the south, where they are to be analyzed.
 
The results show an almost unparalleled potential for uncontrollable mutation, although who obtained these results and how is never even hinted at. The Imperium closes its borders with India, and searches every ship and plane that enters the country, but as patients are diagnosed with the virus in China, it becomes clear that it's too late. Luckily, the imperial government has the authority to restrict the movements of its own civilians, and any districts that become infected are immediately quarantined.
 
"This threat must not be underestimated," remarks an imperial spokesman in an address that is broadcast to the world. "The virus is, for now, relatively harmless, but it is perhaps the most unpredictable pathogen we have seen in decades. It is for this reason that the Oceanic Imperium calls for a global health council to be established and hosted in Singapore. We must prevent the virus' further spread, determine its weaknesses, and finally eliminate it by any means necessary.
 
The overall death toll is quite low, for the moment, and in all other areas the Imperium continues to gain strength. The flourishing worldwide environment allows imperial technological prowess to proceed at an unmatched rate.
 
The modernization of the imperial infantry is completed far earlier than expected, and the new rifles and body armor enter production. The army, already a staggeringly large organization, is taught how to use them and continues to go through rigorous training. The new gunships are also finished, and are to be used as a major method of transport from now on.
 
As the Imperium controls a colossal portion of the world's oceans, exerting its influence over the entire Indian Ocean, half of the Southern Ocean, and half of the Pacific, it begins a huge survey of the ocean floor, using a new generation of submarines. The uncountable factories of Asia were always on the verge of a resource bottleneck, and almost everything at the bottom of the ocean was still untapped. The project hopes to find anything of use below the waves.

 
The government begins distributing new strains of crops to farm managers throughout the Imperium. They are far hardier and grow faster than the farmers have ever seen, producing two or three separate crops a year. No information is released on where these strains come from, or who developed them. In addition, further underground farms are constructed to expand the food supply to even greater levels.
 
National defense is also a realm of expansion; drone hangars and missile defense systems spring up all over the the empire, especially along the borders. The war machines of the Imperium are ready for battle at all times, and although their numbers are unknown to the rest of the world, they are frankly ridiculous, and the word "overkill" might spring to mind for some.
 
The Imperium requests the blueprints to the USA's new infantry drones, and in exchange offers to share the Overlord MKII system, the successor to the AI system that both country's drones work off of. ((Last page explained the improvements))
 
 

Macquarie Island, Southern Ocean

As possibilities had expanded, so too had Omar's responsibilities. The ability to modify genomes so easily had apparently awakened a storm of ideas in the Emperor's head. The staff of the facility had quadrupled already, and the projects that it was working on were as diverse as it was possible to be. There were the humanitarian projects, like the research into genetically modified crops and into the virus currently rampaging across the world, and there were projects with goals still nebulous and far into the future: there was a lab for example that was looking into the possibility of changing the human genome to reduce the level of free radicals loose in the body, which could possibly reduce damage to DNA over time and lead to greater things.
 
But of course there was the other end of the spectrum, the projects that nobody spoke of: the 10,000 prepubescent boys at the south end of the island, and the lowest level of the main facility, which was always under quarantine. Omar of course knew what these things were, and he knew that they would make lesser men shudder. But he was not a lesser man. He alone was willing to do the things that had to be done, but that so many found distasteful. And one day, his name would be known to the world, as the man that had lifted humanity to its greatest heights of achievement.

The Socialist Union of Nordic States

Greenland continues to industrialise, with the population now doubled to 120,000 through immigration, and the suicide rate beginning to decline. Many more resources, such as rare earth metals and gems, are produced. A portion of the gems are given out to the Greenlandic populace, old and new, for their good work. Nuuk begins looking more and more like a modernised small city rather than an almost feudal-looking town.

The SUNS station still undergoes construction in orbit, and it progresses well.

The Multi-Function Dropships finish production and their troop transport features are tested, and they excel at rapidly moving soldiers whilst maintaining their own defence.

However, the drone function cannot do so well without drones, obviously. As such, research, testing, and prototyping begins into a light airborne AI-operated drone that could have anti-air, anti-infantry and anti-armour capabilities, with a pair of 50 Cal. Machine Guns and a single armour-piercing missile launcher that would lock onto targets. It would be the rough size of a large human, and would be used in the new MFDs. An AI would be required to pilot this drone, and the SUNS military didn't want to become overly dependent on the French VI. A new AI is researched into, with the French VI helping to create the new one. Caution if rogue AIs is paramount. A failsafe system is designed that would self-destruct the AI that would be impossible to overcome. If the code is changed without a pass that only exists in the loyal programmers and top, trusted generals, the failsafe engages. If any attempt is made to overide the failsafe, the failsafe engages. If anyone attempts to hack into the AI, the failsafe engages. Every possibility is considered to ensure there is simply no way for a rogue AI or enemy hacker to cause damage with the AI.((4 pages))
