A Little Poem

So, this has been sitting on my profile for awhile, and those of you who've seen it have probably said "Oh, what an edgy POS" and moved on with your lives.

But take a gander, and read it backwards.

I am part of a lost generation
and I refuse to believe that
I can change the world
I realize this may be a shock but
“Happiness comes from within.”
is a lie, and
“Money will make me happy.”
So in 30 years I will tell my children
they are not the most important thing in my life
My employer will know that
I have my priorities straight because
work
is more important than
family
I tell you this
Once upon a time
Families stayed together
but this will not be true in my era
This is a quick fix society
Experts tell me
30 years from now, I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce
I do not concede that
I will live in a country of my own making
In the future
Environmental destruction will be the norm
No longer can it be said that
My peers and I care about this earth
It will be evident that
My generation is apathetic and lethargic
It is foolish to presume that
There is hope.

I like this poem a lot because it really highlights one of the most important lessons I've learned throughout my life. Everything is what you make of it. Nothing in this world has any real value, or everything in the world has all the value in the world- and it's all totally, 100% on you to decide which, if either of those two options is true. What's the point of a big house or a nice car except to pay more on the bills? When you see the statistic that 50% of marriage ends in divorce, do you say to yourself "Wow, this means it's really likely that will be me!" or "Wow, sucks to be them?"

When you play on a minecraft roleplay server, where are your thoughts? Is it all important, none important, or some important? What do you let this server mean to you? Have you spent hundreds of dollars on alts and ddos networks? Or have you invested real, painstaking emotion and effort into crafting your character into a nation leader, or a representation of a perfect you, and expressed real frustration when your plans fell short of fruition? Have you ever yelled at somebody in skype for their character's actions, or been antagonistic towards somebody because you let your perception of their character influence your perception of them?

Because you shouldn't.

You are what you allow yourself to be, and the world is what it is. It's the day of the big game, you look outside, and it's raining sideways. You groan to yourself, "Jesus Christ!"

Jesus doesn't give a ****. It's still raining.

So, you have two options. Grin to yourself and suppose you won't sweat as hard, or scuff your toe and whine to your mom as she drives you off.

Perception is everything.

Good day, LOTC.

So what you are telling us is not true, since we can choose to perceive this poem as we want to... However that would make what you said true... And then we are looking at the same perception... Hmm...
