Hello everyone,

I’ve got several topics that I would like to cover today, with a special surprise to conclude. First of all, I’d like to focus on an concept I feel is very important for all of us to be engaged in.

HELP OUR NEW PLAYERS!

One of the biggest problems for our incoming players is getting involved in a roleplay community. For many, the concept of roleplay is new and intriguing, and coming here they are excited to become meaningful members of our community. However, we’ve got vast lands to get lost in and a unique content ecosystem to wrap your head around. These learning curves can certainly dissuade new players, so something must be done about it.

How can I help?

Make them feel welcome! When a player registers on the server, send them a private message and let them know you appreciate them coming to LotC to share this experience with us. It can be as simple as «/msg newbro Welcome to LotC!». Prove to these people that they belong here and you absolutely will drive our server forward.

Forgive their mistakes, and educate them! We’ve got a matured etiquette that is above most Minecraft servers, most players will take time to adjust and may make mistakes—this is normal! Instead of filing for a player report or resorting to punishing them, explain how they could improve so that the situation does not repeat.

Offer them a job, a place to stay! This one is a no brainer, each newbie is unaffiliated and ready for action. Start up a buddy program in your settlement! Offer rewards for bringing in new workers and settlers, send members to roleplay with them and bring them back to their new home. This both helps players feel a part of the community and keeps your settlement active and powerful!

Let’s take the steps together to make sure our newbros are on their feet. This is important to our growth together as a community and server as a whole, and the contributions of every individual make a difference.

BRINGING BACK THE MONKS
(Space, Tsu did this…)

With this effort in mind, I would like to ask that everyone please welcome the official return of playable monks. Members that are willing to come forward to revive this group will be recieving express staff support in this endeavour and relevant region permissions.

As of yet this does not include the return of monk magic, however, this topic may be revisited at a later date.

Monks may engage in character development but are not allowed to take sides with any force. These people are beacons of neutrality and are a group expressly geared towards the integration of our new players.

An important point to note: Monks are a protected party. Combat is henceforth prohibited against monks and their mentored newbie (if they have one at the time) unless both parties agree this will help the new player understand mechanics. This is within reasonable manner of course, if a monk is being abrasive in roleplay please file a modreq and report the incident.

TRANSFER OF ADMINISTRATIVE ROLES

Effective immediately, I am resigning from my role as Community Relations Administrator in lieu of my unfinished work on Obelisk. Readicti will be taking over the role from now on, though likely in the future once Obelisk is released and stable I will return to these duties in full steam.

Please congratulate Readicti on the return of her role! As for myself, I am taking upon the role of Direction Administrator, responsibilities of this role mainly revolve around the planning and production of future content.

Any ideas for (plugins-especially) future content (aka months down the line) should be directed to me and I will find a reasonable way to incorporate your concerns. My Skype is (Telinir), hit me up and chat about LotC whenever you like!

VENTURE INTO PUBLIC-FACING MEDIA

As you all have noticed, this post is strongly focused on incoming players. The answer of why is simple, we are anticipating a surge in incoming activity in the next few months.

How come? The answer is simple—we’re going full steam ahead on advertising Lord of the Craft to new wider audiences.

We will have much to thank Scene21 in the coming future, as he has come forth to help us rebuild our outward facing media program from the ground up. Scene21 will be acting as the executive producer of his media branch and undertaking a few key responsibilities. Utilizing what appears to be a sprawling network of contacts and influence across several forums he aims to double our active player base in the coming months.

He will be working closely with numerous popular YouTubers as well as Livestreamers in the near future to help us project our unique premium experience into the forefront. Additionaly, he will be working closely with our Event Team to prepare enjoyable situations for the community and coming streamers.

Even beyond all of this, Scene21 has also expressed his interest in helping resolve any server performance issues. We will be working closely with him to ensure this comes to a positive conclusion. Let us hope for the best together and hope Scene21 can realize this insane dream.

What does this mean for me?

I ask that each of you recognize the significance of these events and act on your best behaviour in the coming future. Please offer your respect to Scene21 and incoming YouTubers as you are likely being filmed! Your names will be plastered all over these videos so act rationally and make a note to work cooperatively. As per usual transgressions will be swiftly punished (regardless if they were on camera or not!).

There is no better time than now to start dreaming bigger and focusing on greater goals. Let’s make Lord of the Craft among the most popular quality servers by the end of 2016, and keep roleplay an integral and core aspect of this experience.

Thank you all,

~Telanir, your Direction Administrator

I mean he seems like a rather new player himself, should we be given an explanation about who he is, and why he's being given this much authority?
No disrespect intended, but he applied 10 days ago.

Fair enough, he used to play long ago and recently returned with new intentions. Recently we have been able to hold discussions with this gentleman and we have reason to believe he may very well pull this off, but we've chosen not to mention quite why yet and instead let him show you who he is.

Scene21 isn't exactly as much as given authority here as we are providing him with a medium and support necessary to get YouTubers on-board. In the event that he is successful in this endeavour we would be able to assess him higher as a staff member and give him the relevant authority if that is deemed necessary by Administration.

In reality I must mention, this is the job that potentially any of you could seek out to do if you put in the time and effort into it, and as a staff we will continue to provide our full support to all member-initiative media projects.
