Your View: 4.5.1 Event Map Preemptive Thoughts

 Share

Recommended Posts

Evening, Lord of the Craft!

After discussing it in today's Community Meeting, I'm wanting to get some opinions on what sort of things the community would like to see from the event map. That said, I'd like to begin with a short bit of information.

Details

The Event Map, currently going as '4.5.1' will serve as an event map. To make a comparison, the map will function much like the North did, in Anthos. This means that it will be exclusively used for events and event builds. It will not be settled by players, so there need not be any concerns of construction or the spreading of rp.

Lore-wise, it is going to tie in with the 5.0 map to a great extent. Details on this will be revealed as the events go on.

The map is a very large landmass, and it's going to be released in segments as the plot (and our builders) move forward. Don't worry - The first part is easily sufficient to provide many, many events.

-

Now, the main purpose behind this post is to ask you, the playerbase, as to what sorts of events you'd like to see come from the map.

How many players do you think can work in an event?

Did you like the old 'bounty board' monster hunting events?

What is your opinion on PvE in events?

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

It was very good when planned well.

What is your opinion on PvE in events?

When its not mob spawn after spawn after spawn. Give a few emotes with the waves, and something meaningful after. Not just YAY WE KILLED THEM event over.

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?

Too be honest, if not meta'd maybe if theres different stories not jsut the same old story in the repeatable area.

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

Maybe try something like anthos, Don't try the cliche dragon or undead. Add more twist in the eventlines. Don't make a special group the protag. Make EVERYONE a winner. Or even an event where we end up losing and in a great depression of a world. Make a new change, we always dont HAVE to win against an antag. Us moving to a new place because the antag scares us away, is a crappy lost imo.

I think something like this should come as a result of an event line idea, not trying to fit the event line into the island.

Why not just do events on the main map?

The new map allows for much larger scale builds, as well as the ability to create event lines and do worldbuilding without getting in the way of player builds. To go to the Anthos example - An atmosphere like the North couldnt have been created if the builds were simply dispersed between player lands.

Would it not be better and more immersive to incorporate event lines into environments that players are familiar with?

Not on the scale we're working with on this map. Smaller lines, yeah. But not the sort that we have in the works for this map.

You say you want to build these large scale builds for this large event, fair enough.

The question is, how intensive will these large scale builds be?

Will they allow for people with lower end pcs or what have you not be able take part of the event? I mean look at some of the large-ish cities, people try to avoid them because they take a bit render out and be in(laggy).

Or will the people who can handle the hardcore rendering out only end up being at the event?

How many players do you think can work in an event?

honestly i like small groups such as 10 to 15, but it really just depends on the event itself.

Did you like the old 'bounty board' monster hunting events?

Loved it, never actully fought one (tryed but it got killed before i got there) but people used to tell me how enjoyable it was.

What is your opinion on PvE in events?

As a person that hates pvp and pve i wish for them to be more RP fighting, but i understand its very hard to handle large groups.

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?

Since i never know when events maybe and never really get to play them, i think this would go great with smaller groups. The last true event i helped in was when the dwarves tryed to fight a mother wyvern, 4 months ago.

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

I Feel these would go hand in hand with the "Replay" event idea, mainly because most people would would be oblivises to the story line. Maybe bring in a new "Bad guy" to fight and such, for even if we dont want this to happen, things dont always go people's ways.

How many players do you think can work in an event?

As many as you want as long as they are spread out. I know in the Fringe we had a lot of people exploring Burzumkutotaz and everyone was so spread out there weren't many issues. It almost felt the north in WoW with so many things going on at once assaulting the main fortress.

Did you like the old 'bounty board' monster hunting events?

Yes

What is your opinion on PvE in events?

I think it'd be better if there was more diversity in the mobs. Strong mobs that would be a match for players but in near even numbers as players would be nice to see. (also less laggy)

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?

Oh yes, I would definitely like that. Not all of us are in the cliques that get to big stuff first or even fifth, so being able to see what they have would be really cool.

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

Don't retconn or change them halfway through. Put more thought into the storylines so that, that doesn't have to happen.

I like that nerd Zeeros idea, we dont always have to win, or just run off, to a new, land, we can have some evil tyrannical overlord to eventually over throw

How many players do you think can work in an event?

Tbh you can add any amount. Take the Red Realm for an example.

Did you like the old 'bounty board' monster hunting events?

I enjoyed it when it was in it's prime

What is your opinion on PvE in events?

They're good, I especially like when being outnumbered forcing people to work in groups rather than just soloing the entire horde of mobs.

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?

This is likely helpful for those on separate time zones though you may have to scale certain areas to condense that group of people.

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

No pro-tag wannabees, for the love of god NO. Let the descision making come from the Nations, they can choose how to deal with the threat. No linear story line ****, make it have the possiblilty of diff. outcomes.

Stop making temp maps, focus on and make the 5.0 map ffs.  It blows my mind that we would waste time and player grief (loss of items, having to build new homes, etc), only to have to do it AGAIN for 5.0.

*Reads the OP before posting*

Oh ok yeah that seems ok
