The Realm of Courland

The Duchy of Waldenians, Illatians & Auvergnians  

 

The Duchy of Courland, led by the Aleksandr Fransesco Staunton, is the crown jewel of the Orenian Empire. Situated in the north of the realm, it embodies its Commonwealth heritage both culturally and politically. Despite the ruling dynasty being a controversial subject, decades of their stable reign has brought blossoming to both the population and its wealth. Today, the Duchy serves as a caretaker to a variety of native and foreign cultures that sought the fortune and peace of the north. With its strongly religious and conservative identity, many assimilated to the identity and cause of humanity; making Courland the biggest supplier of militants and expertise today.

 

Government

 

The founding father of the Duchy; Percival Staunton, had envisioned a progressive government on meritocratic principles. His following consisted out of former Commonwealth officials and inhabitants that carried long standing traditions in administration and warfare with them. But due to their unique cultural identities, that in no way allowed imposed influences at the time, Percival understood that each culture had to be represented in their own respective field of expertise. Thus, giving birth to the government that reigns of Courland today.

The Chancellor then oversees the Chamber of Administration as a delegate of the Duke, which serves as the legislative & administrative body of the Duchy. Although Duke Aleksandr grants high autonomy to officials, his ancient right to abolish or revoke the decisions made by this Chamber remains.

These three individuals each act as a delegate for the Chancellor in their own branch, who they lead within the set guidelines by the Duke and, or Chancellor. Each branch holds lower titles with specific tasks and authority, that are abolished or apart of an individual institution such as Die Starke Armee.

 

 

The Duke stands as caretaker of multiple lower nobles, that are appointed by the Crown. While most are recent to the scene of relevance, others have long accompanied the Ducal family since its existence.

Purses his lips whilst sealing an envelope bound with golden wax and places it into his desk drawer.  The letter is addressed  to the Duke of Courland. He calls for his steward, momentarily halting the  renovation of Dunwych Hold.

 

              "I certainly hope this won't mean too much more work." he sighs tiredly, glancing upon the fields of Ambrosa , "Admittedly, we can only be strengthened from here-on-out." he pauses momentarily, furrowing his brows with a slight chuckle. "Si, we'll have to defend ourselves and Oren now."

 

A moment of some silence steadily overcomes the man.

 

             "Ab aeterno."  he mumbles.
