“Penned by the Right Honorable Glendon Stafford, Count of Cheshire.”

[ ! ] The Document is penned with the sigil of House Stafford, a stag prancing upon an open field.

Throughout my years of faithful, undying service to the Kingdom of Courland, I’ve accumulated quite the amount of experience, kills to my name, and battles underneath my belt. I’ve witnessed and partaken in all campaigns from the disastrous Orenian rout at Goldfields, to the desolation of Johannesburg, and to the victory had against Haense at the Siege of Vasiland. All of which was carried out beneath the Staunton banner. However, ever since Courland’s reformation on Axios, it became evident that this Kingdom would soon come down the dreaded path. Such loyalty to the Kingdom that I had begins to waver when having bered witnessed to the atrocities committed by the Crown, its insertion into the affairs of foreign nations, and the bullying of lesser nations of Axios into submission. This was especially apparent during the Courlandic aggression upon Mardon, a nation who sought nothing but peace and prosperity. Perhaps one day the Crown used to have vision in mind, to bring the age-old decrepit Empire to its knees, but that day has long since past. Now, they must find prey elsewhere. They have become what they despise the most. And to me it seems we have traded one evil for another. It pains me on this day to address the list of atrocities and wrongdoings committed by the Kingdom of Courland. But now, the list has grown insurmountable, incapable of simply being shrugged off.

To perhaps shed some light on some of Courland’s transgressions:

1). Unprovoked raiding and incursions into the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska via use of bannerless brigands, then later claiming to have no such responsibility for such deeds.

2). Before the outbreak of war, the slaughter of Haensetic nobility in cold blood, namely Boris Nicholas Ruthern.

3). The butchering of High Pontiff Owyn II whilst on a peaceful visit to Aleksandria.

4). Affiliation with necrotic beings, collectively referred to as Undead.

5). Blatant warmongering and intervention in foreign conflicts in which Courland has no business in.

6). The installation of a puppet ruler, Franz Josef “the False” Kovachev, to exercise control over the Highlander peoples, whom he draws no support from.

7). The beratement and stripping of titles and lands of Ser Gared Errmark.

8). Failure to properly address the Ruthern incident, resulting in House Ruthern’s official secession from the Kingdom.

9). The murder of Count Joren and his host within the throneroom of Curonburg Palace.

Now, for those who are unaware, Courlandic ‘diplomacy’ consisted of hypocrisy and subversion. To the Late King Tobias and his successor, Joseph Alexander, diplomacy entails plunging a dagger into the backs of those who refuse to submit to their will. Such a mentality is impossible to maintain. Much like the Imperium Quintus, they find themselves making enemies at every corner. Also much like the Empire, the administration fails to possess the knowledge and mindset required for keeping their vassals in line, and would instead prefer to subdue dissenters by use of force. And thus, I will no longer sit idle while the Kingdom inflicts their reign of terror upon the denizens of Axios. Ever since the reintroduction of Courland onto the geo-political sphere, they have been set on a warpath. First their eyes were set on the Empire, then Haense, then Mardon, and now the Ruthern lands of Metterden. Many years back I began to see the events unfold, my only regret was not acting earlier. For years I looked on while Courland made away with these inumerous crimes. No longer.

No longer shall I stand idle, and be a bystander while the Courlandic Empire preys upon the weak. How long will it be before Courland sets its eyes upon another nation and threatens its sovereignty? No longer will I stand for this. I will no longer associate myself with this interventionism, imperialism, and heresy that has become associated with the Kingdom. What I have put forth in this document is treason of the highest level, but I stand ready to face the consequences, for I know the cause is just. No doubt will I have my titles and land stripped from beneath me and be deemed a traitor. No doubt that I will potentially forsake the wishes of my own family members. But, I will lend whatever I may have, however miniscule it may be, to the cause of House Ruthern. Therefore, I hereby release myself of my vows sworn to House Staunton, which I should point out had not been renewed upon the coronation of King Joseph I, and do pledge my aid to the House of Ruthern. My grudge is not against the peoples of Courland, but rather its leadership and foreign policy. And so, I do entreat my like-minded brothers to too rise up and take up the sword against the status quo.

Curonia delenda est.

Durate et vicistis,

The Right Honorable Glendon Stafford, Count of Cheshire, Baron of Canterbury, and Lord of Castle Hornwood,

Reginald Stafford smiles while standing behind Glendon. 'Pretending' to be part of this rebellion to soon claim his rightful spot as Patriarch of House Stafford and Count of Chesire.

"Can we not atleast pretend we are creative with coming up with title names, this is just getting stupid now." Says Stanimir after reading the titles of 'Canterbury' and 'Hornwood'.

Rotger sits down with a watery red-inked quill to help him focus his thoughts... "Courlandic incursions into Hanseti-Ruska being Gared Errmark. So when he raids a nation that's openly being hostile towards us, that's reprehensible but when we take issue in him fighting against our allies the Dwed and chastise him for thus, that's also reprehensible. Bit of a contradiction, but hey, let's move on..." he shrugs as he lines the two sections.

"By no means am I agreeing to such actions, but if I remember correctly, a noblelady, one not able to play a part in the war, had her head caved in by Haense, along with the execution of one of the nobles we sent to diplomatically secure the kidnapped Princess' release. So... Contradiction again..?"

"About Mardon..." he taps the feather end of his quill against his lip, "first off, we were called to arms by an ally. Secondly, we disengaged from the war before its conclusion, allowing Mardon to remain, but ohh grr, we're such bloodthirsty conquerors, right?"

"Finally the Ruthern incident wherein the Rutherns murdered a noble and occupied a county. The return of the county and a meagre fine seemed a fair response from the Arch-Duke, the response the Crown backed. Aaaand Count Joren, that was.. when they drew arms during a court session and quickly found themselves overwhelmed. Draws parallels to WhoCares Vanir who died outside Riga after failing to raid it."

"Haven't I been over this? A fine was offered that they denied. Seems someone's been so inactive in Courlandic matters that they've missed half a decade of affairs."

"All traitors will get what they deserve, it is God's will and no one can change the will of the Almighty Creator." An Old Believer would say, "He shall pay for this treachery, who dared to betray Courland, the Kingdom which gave his House the land he governs now. I will see you on the battlefield" The Old Believer would say and prepares himself for the skirmish.

"Courlandic incursions referring to the Brawm rebels who murdered Duke Henrik Kovachev and were supported by a Courlandic garrison when they were sieged. The same Brawm rebels who Courland had promised would be evicted from the north. The Brawms failed to leave and Courland failed to aid in their eviction as promised. See the Greyspine Concord, term 7." ((

So... Contradiction again..?"

"Firstly, this isn't a contradiction at all. The kidnapping of a noblelady does not excuse the murder of a nobleman, equivalent exchange does not apply in wartime situations, that's absurd. Secondly, the Princess was only captured after the Archduke of Courland lead an attack to murder a Baron in Haense without provocation or any attempt at diplomacy. The Princess was kept in a cell alive and very much unharmed until she was freed. She was kept as a comfortable prisoner in good health, supplied with food, water, and everything else she could need. Obviously it was not a kind act but it was one deemed necessary due to the obvious incursions from Courland, and the princess was never actually harmed.

Also, the noble who was """"diplomatically""" sent to negotiate for the Princess' release came armed, with a party of armed men, who drew weapons on the Karlsburg guards and were promptly defeated. In fact, the son of that nobleman later seceded from Courland and said that his father did go to Haense with violent intent and that it was an act of suicide."

"You were not called to terms by an ally. You aided Savoyard rebels of your own accord after they came to your throne room and requested it. You had signed no treaty with them and they were brigands rather than an actual faction. You had no obligation to aid them whatsoever.

"It's baffling that people continue to insist that the noble Edward was murdered. He was never harmed. He is still alive. Should you wish, you could send a bird to him and speak with him RIGHT NOW. I simply cannot comprehend why it is so impossibly difficult to convey to you people that EDWARD ROSWELL IS ALIVE.

Also, the first person to draw arms was Frederick Staunton-Baden as confirmed by every single eyewitness who was not actively participating and fighting WITH Courland. The Ruthern men only drew arms after Frederick Staunton-Baden did and in fact only after Adelwen Ruthern shouted "Protect the Count," referring to said 8 year old. And even after that, the men of House Ruthern attempted to retreat rather than fight against the Courlanders but were cut down while attempting to flee. It's disgusting how you spread such evil lies without a second thought. Truly, you are either a very evil man or a very deluded one."

Responds Nikolai.

Rotger never sent his one copy of an edited letter, though he somehow receives a response nonetheless. He scribbles on the backside of the response 'the princess was not harmed but her friend, a noblelady, had her head crushed. I've seen the scar. Secondly the group that came 'armed' for the release was after the murder of one of our solitary nobles who was sent to secure release, a member of the privy council at the time too. Also, congratulations on not even being able to murder a man correctly; I haven't met Edward since his 'departure', nor was I informed of his survival. However I greatly suspect he survived through no 'mercy' on the Ruthern part. On top of that, I personally recall the Brawms attempting to defenestrate a noblelady of Courland in our own palace. And it's awfully divisive taking a child to a meeting in which you plan on drawing arms. And need I mention how I inhaled thanhium one Galahad Doesn'tMatter  threw at a praying infant princess.'

"Her head was crushed but all she has is a scar to show for it.. are you mad? How does one have their head crushed in and still survive? Is she an undead? What manner of dark magic are you speaking of that allows one to live after supposedly having their head caved in? As for the matter of Edward, there is no evidence to ever suggest that he was killed. You insist that he was but there is absolutely no reason to believe so whatsoever or any evidence of such a thing in any way, shape or form. If we killed him, he would be dead and not alive--therefore, he was not killed. I truly do not understand why the permanence of death is such a difficult concept for you to understand. And once again I will reiterate, we did not take a child to a meeting where we intended to draw arms. We did not intend to draw arms. And in fact, we did not draw arms until they were drawn on us by Frederick Staunton-Baden, and even then it was only to protect our own. Also, who the **** is Galahad. I've never heard of such a man in my life, nor is such a man employed by House Ruthern. As for the Brawms, I've not heard of this incident but there was never a condemnation of them by Courland nor did Courland ever aid us in removing them. And, there was still a Courlandic garrison in the castle when it was sieged.
