Nin's Passing [PK]

TheTri

Smoke from various torches rises from the Celestial Tower in honor of a fallen member of Aeriel’s Chosen.

After a century of harnessing his voidal prowess and Ascended abilities, Nin Taliame has finally passed on during a rescue mission at the hands of Richard Baruch during in which he was held captive. To the delight of many and the despair of some, the Ascended was not coming back. Nothing remained in memory of him aside from his various belongings and uniform.

"Stay strong, brothers and sisters. . ." was all he mumbled to himself before dissipating into grey ash for a final time

Bolon Stormtaker simple beat a fist against his chest while alone in his home before going back to drinking though he was forced to drink tea and smoke a cigar (Joint) in this time only keeping to his home alone with his memories as a few tears drop from his own eyes. Oddly enough mostly from taking down Richard for this short time after nin had his neck sliced open. His pain from knowing he's lost richard such a long time ago who out of a few he could actually call brother and family to fall the dark magic this world holds such a long time ago "This a unhappy and happy time. . . chimera's have been slayed and with them there master for this possibly short time. . . and having the unhappy moment of an ascended passing. . . just if I was a bit smarter maybe I wouldn't of acted so soon."  He'd go back to working on his home while continuing to smoke his cigar (Joint) which was making his mood only just a bit better

Elvira would be sat upon the SS Valour. Her tattoos would be clear to see, and her ink set would be by her side. The woman would go to etch a name upon the left arm, which bore the name of many other Ascended that she knew and had passed on. She would take her time, ensuring each letter is neatly written and clear to see. Eventually, she would finish adding the name and inspects it with a pained expression.

It was a tradition of hers - whenever an Ascended or Cleric passed on and she knew them, she would etch their names upon either her right or left arm, so that their names would be remembered by her... and should she fall, she'll know they're rooting for her and she needed to keep fighting.

"Rest well, Nin... and I am sorry I could not save you..."

The grieving figure of the lover was chatting with a peculiar person, a Druid. Tears ran down her cheeks, as her fingers thumbed over the last gift Nin had given her. The Druid, an old wise one, was speaking with a sympathetic look.  His words soothing to her pain and grief. After her talk with him, she returned to her job. Her lips kissed the gift, and she gave a watery smile.

"I'll see you someday, my love."

Rickard Vientos felt a wave of frustration and grief. Another friend and comrade of his having passed on;

"Fair thee well then Nin, may the Archaengul guide you..."

The Rapport-Sect Ascended still had much left to do.

A certain powerful Waldenian man shrugged upon receiving news of the Ascended's demise, his last memory of the man being smashing his nose. "...Shouldn't have attacked my wife. Rest easy, though," he remarked, murmuring a faint prayer per usual.

As word reaches Magnus Deed, he'd sigh and frown at the pasing "I am sorry ol' friend that you have past and fallen away, now guard the Desert forever old Ascended of Aeriel, and fight on, for if not, I fear the worst is yet to come" He says closing his one eye before walking into Wulf's Den to continue working, thinking and learning from past sarrows, and present faults. "Another one bites dust, now Kary what do you make of this? (@Vindicant) A Godslave's pasing or a friend falling?" He'd say as he would begin working thinking about the good ol' days when thinks where more simple.

Dear Nin Taliame, The letter began. It wasn’t long until tears mixed with the wet ink. A shaky hand drew the quill to the paper, urged to continue. The wielder was especially careful with his unsteady writing, for he knew it had to be legible. It had to be perfect.

I never could have foreseen myself writing this letter to you.

Blankly, Harlan stared at the page. A hundred memories crossed his mind. He could hardly hear himself think over the deafening sound of his own sobbing.

I stitched your robes as best as I could in case of your return. Did you know that I met Carsandra? I assured her that we would bring you back safely. I can’t lie, Nin, I was certain that we would bring you back to her. I envisioned the children you would’ve had, the wedding in all of its splendor. What a display it would’ve been.

Before you left us, I thought night terrors were a thing of the past, only present at a time when my soul was tainted with the greatest darkness of all. I was mistaken. Nightmares have haunted my mind during the sleep I do get. All I can reflect on is how close we were to you and Richard. I would’ve sacrificed anything, even my own life, to have saved yours.

As a result of Aeriel’s blessing, I believed that I could heal from any wound, but I know that this is a pain I will carry for the rest of my life. I will never recover from losing you. For the rest of eternity, I’ll lament over your absence. You were such a young and purehearted boy with the world at his fingertips.

I can’t call you a boy anymore, can I? You became mature. An Ascended, worthy of great respect in his magical talents and innovative gadgets alike. There is a reason why we all came to your rescue, Nin.

My greatest regret is that I was not able to even hold you in your last moments. I couldn’t have looked you in the eyes and told you one last time that you were treasured, and that your efforts to do good were never in vain, and that the world could hate you infinitely and forever but nothing could persuade me from believing that you could’ve done anything you put your mind to. I could have never foreseen your potential being squandered quite like this.

The Ascended remained planted in his seat. He squirmed as he pondered the letter’s unavoidable conclusion. It had to end somehow.

I know that I will see you again. Until then, I will carry on with the mission Aeriel wills, with an aching heart, and though you are not by my side, I will heave my sword with twice the strength to ease your absence.

I love you, Nin; my brother in Aeriel, my equal, my son.

   ~Doctor Harlan Everage

Harlan Everage let the ink dry. He creased the letter twice. Neatly, the man tucked the note into Nin's restored robes, which he then placed into a box. Candlewax was painstakingly melted along the edge of the lid, sealing Nin's precious belongings away from the harsh elements.
Of course, Harlan knew exactly where to put it.

Only the cosmos could see, but Dael shed a single tear as he wept silently. Although only one, for he knew where Nin would land in his afterlife.
The Grand Magus, will be remembered for years to come.

Marrow lets out a small sigh as he catches the news. "No matter how much I may have mocked you, you were still a noble heart, unique among your kind. Van'ayla..."  He pauses for a few moments, thinking to himself before finishing, "...llir."

In the depths of a swamp a robed figure sits, alone with nothing but its thoughts.  Even so far out into the wilderness, word of Nin's death had reached the ears of the creature called Shamblebones.  A dry voice, like stone rasping against steel, breaks the silence that so often filled the mire.

"And so, one more falls..."
