DEO VINDICE

“Stand firm in faith and be men of courage, for God is Our Protector”

The thunderous hooves of cavalry could be heard from Leuven to Helena as the collective forces of the Imperials and their stalwart allies marched to meet the Pertinaxi rebels who challenged the rightful reign of  Emperor Joseph. Fieldmarshal Arthur de Falstaff commanded the main imperial army, composed of heartlander brigades under command of Lord Conrad de Falstaff and levied highlander forces of Marius II, King of Haense. He was joined by the fearsome Princes Aelthos, Aeluin, and Vyrion Tundrak, leading the elite Valkyrim and auxiliary elven cavalry, the levied militia of the Golden City of Ves under the command Captain Solarius Watanbe, and the emperor’s brother-in-law Richard of Marna, commanding his own brigade of red-cladden knights.

Battle roared as horns blew from the Imperial side, Lord Arthur commanding his forces to strike straight into the Pertinaxi lines, joined by the flanking of both sides of each contingent of cavalry. Expecting a long, drawn out fight, the rebel forces did not anticipate the courageous charge of the revolutionaries and their allies, forcing an all-out rout of their forces, many of whom were cut down in the ensuing slaughter. The battle was quickly over as after the Pertinaxi rebels took heavy losses, retreating westerwards towards Helena.

Lord Arthur and the imperial army rallied their forces near the hill of Lower Rodenbourg, and collected their dead - leaving Upper Rodenbourg littered with the corpses of Pertinaxi rebels. They returned to their original position atop a hill as Aelthos Tundrak and his valiant cavalry force chopped down Pertinaxi stragglers. After a few back and forths with the remaining Pertinaxi forces, the battle was concluded as a decisive victory for the Imperial forces who on their return to Reza sang songs of victory and joy.

Lord Arthur, after the battle, gave the following the speech;

“My brothers in liberty, hear me now,

Only months dwindle till we march upon Iblees’ door, demanding his eviction with steel fists. What the rebel dogs saw upon the Upper Rodenbourg they shall see till they yield to their masters, for they have grown fat upon the spoils of the common man and whine for their wretched dessert. But the shackles of humanity have been freed at last, and no longer shall we be enslaved to their desires. Instead, we shall serve them the course of righteous judgement, by force if they so require it.

Once our emperor sits upon the throne in Helena and its moat comes filled with Pertinaxi blood, they shall know this my brothers;

There is a big day coming.”

Aelthos offers a copy to his father as he then nods. “You trained some of the finest elven troops out there.”

“No one will end the Pertinax bloodline but me. And I will make sure of it.” Hannibal grumbled. “Even if that means fighting against those that I still respect.”

Jack McCain rejoices after the battle, doling out pallets of Johnsblood to the sick and wounded. It would be some time before he would meet the man he hailed as emperor, who until such time had been an obscure Marnantine princeling. All reports had him being strong, honest and true. Truth be told, he didn’t much care. He would have preferred a crooked emperor, anyone rather than one of the murderous clan Pertinaxii.

The Sentinel of the Valkyrim, mounted atop his Fennic bred steed he had named Glory, would breath deep. Surrounded by his kin on all sides, he’d pat Glory’s neck solemnly. When suddenly he heard the horns of war blow cold. The Crown Prince had called the cavalry to action. Thrashing the reins Glory would speed off alongside his brother’s and sister’s in arms. For it was only a matter of time, that Aesilnoth no longer saw the surrounding Renatus lands. Instead, he began to only see red, the crimson blood of those Valah aggressors whom had slayed his kin and antagonized his friends for so long. Finally, would Wyrvun’s justice rain down upon them.

The Prince lay bedridden by sickness as the news of the victory of his and his allies’ troops first spread through the Golden City. The citizens were jubilant; freeman and patrician alike joined together in celebration for the continued fortitude of the republic. Captain Watanabe and his men returned as heroes, the towering pride of their enemies laid low by the humble footman and man-at-arms.

Alfred himself jumped at the opportunity to celebrate, before the news of Edward and Charles Morris’ deaths came by courier. Now the victory had turned pyrrhic, now it had become personal, more real than the haughty conjectures of politics. Alfred shut himself up in his chambers, his mournful weeping drowned out by the shouts of hurrah! down below.

*enjoys a meal within a tavern in Sutica, where she visits often. Surrounded by other citizens gossiping about the battle that she had seen, though she remains silent and content.*

*finds stars at the sunset colors of the sky outside, knowing that this is the calm before the storm and that her job is to get much more busy.. very quickly. Alas, she smiles knowing that much of the fighting has ceased for now. She can return to protecting her friends and the good people of Arcas*

“Ave, Ave!” Matilda would take part in the cheering as she continued helping her guardian with his copious amounts of stock in need of storing, not entirely sure what had happened or what had warranted said-cheering.

“Ave Fenn! Ave Haense! Ave Ves!” Dargo shouted, cleaning imperial blood off of his weapons as he went to bury his trusted steed, that had sadly fallen in battle “Fennic kavalree ees thaw best een thaw world!”
